Cheap movies coming soon

By Dale Roberts / August 22, 2008 edition

With production costs rising, Hollywood is looking for ways to make cheaper movies. One tried-and-true method is to remake classic films. But even these can be expensive. So studios are trying a new genre – the budget sequel. Here are some movies currently in production:

Dances with Coyotes

A Tale of Two Townships

Most of the President’s Men

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Film Festival

The Amityville Unpleasantness

The Sound of Muzak

20,000 Leagues Under Lake Superior

The Maltese Chicken Hawk

The Bridge Over Kwai Creek

The Moped Diaries

Apocalypse Soon

Larry of Arabia

You have got to be kidding!
At my age (80) the origional titles are meaningful to me, as to the impact on younger movie goers. well, I do not know. If this is to be pulled off, the first one has to be absolutely smashingly good so good it gets far more free publicity than it deserves

LOVE it! We need to maintain our sense of humor in these trying times. And after getting a medical misdiagnosis and suffering all kinds of stress, then receiving (with relief) great news, I can use ALL the laughs I can get!
Thanks Dale Roberts!

What about Redbox, available at your local drugstores, retailers, & fast food joints. When I can rent a new release movie for $1 per day theaters seem pointless with tickets now costing $10 a pop (before food & drink).

Holywood needs medical help to figure out what works again. The last big movie I truly loved with my kids was “The Incredibles”. I would still enjoy watching now it except my kids watched it probably over 50x and burned me out on it. In a few more years I can enjoy it again I’m sure.

The other things Hollywood does is make sure their is at least 2 sequels to any movie that does half way decent. It’s now the norm instead of a surprise.
