Book deals for Laura Bush and Sarah Palin?
By Marjorie Kehe | 11.12.08
There’s been a lot written over the past few days about the fearful state of book publishers. However, that shouldn’t make a lick of difference when it comes to a couple of mega book deals expected to be signed before the month is out.
Although book publishers advised President Bush to take his time on his memoirs (waiting until he’s out of office and his approval ratings improve), they are apparently suggesting the opposite to Laura Bush. Interest in anything the first lady would write is high and speculation is that she could make a book deal rivaling that of the $8 million contract that Hillary Rodham Clinton signed for her 2003 memoir “Living History.”
Sally McDonough, Mrs. Bush’s spokeswoman, said yesterday that she “has expressed interest in writing a book after she leaves” the White House and is pursuing the prospect but would not comment as to whether or not the first lady has actually met with any publishers. The AP, however, reports that, “Laura Bush wants to write a memoir and will be meeting with several publishers, according to three publishing executives with knowledge of the proceedings. They asked not to be identified, saying discussions are in the early stages and highly confidential.”
As for Sarah Palin, today’s New York Post quotes Hollywood insider Hal Lifson who told the Post, “CAA, ICM, William Morris, Paradigm and other agencies ’smell books, talk shows and commentary for Fox and CNN’ as possibilities for the Alaska governor.”
An anonymous publishing source whom the Post describes as “high-ranking” predicted that, “She’ll sign a deal by the end of the month.” When it comes to money, however, Palin’s potential earnings are not being compared to those of Hillary Clinton. Instead, according to the Post’s high-ranking source, “Everybody will compare what she gets to the book deal Tina Fey reportedly made - $6 million.”

married the ‘most unpopular ‘president, and, from Pallen why she ‘mated’
in a campaign the fate of which was sealed before it actually begin

She’ll have to give up her day job, Alaska law forbids an outside job. Oh I forgot she already has one they didn’t disclose they are part owners of a Wasilla car wash. I would be interested in reading a book by her handlers, Wasilla hillbillies what a hoot! At least that would more likely to be truthful. Everything that comes out of her mouth is either nonsense or a lie.

Maybe Laura could try writing how she managed to look the other way when George W and family, CFR and Trilateral finalized plans on 9-11 “terrorist attack”. How she played deaf, dumb, and blind during Hurricane Katrina when people were dying and sick and needing to be rescued. How she stuck her nose in a book while her husband handed over billions to AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Citibank. Maybe what she is planning to do with her share of the kick backs her and George received? How this little wimp of a woman never will find the guts to divorce him like Neal Bush’s wife had courage to do. She should hide her head in shame.

Bush and Palin should be required to write at least 90 percent of their book themselves, not hire other ghost writers to do the job. Or both, including Joe the plumber, should have their works printed by some Vanity Press outfit. Let them pay for, market it, and collect the profits on their own merits.
Pricey book deals are as bad as paying sports pros high salaries to play children’s games.
