The soaring costs of college textbooks has been making headlines for quite some time now. Last August, for instance, the University of Arkansas predicted that US college students would spend $2.5 million on textbooks in that month alone.
There may come a day when students do all their reading online and will no longer be troubled by the expense of enormous books that come bundled with supplementary CDs. But until that day arrives, here’s an interesting alternative: You can rent your textbooks.

The problem with renting is that the price is generally not cheap enough to justify the total cost of the book. If you buy the book online, and then sell the book online, you will come out ahead 9 times out of 10 then the cost of renting. It is a very interesting idea but I do not think it is the solution for lower prices.
