Picador launches a Twitter book club

Can you discuss a book in 140 characters? Some readers will be trying. Mediabistro reports today that publishing imprint Picador has formed a new book club on Twitter.

The club will kick off with Yoko Ogawa's "The Housekeeper and the Professor," to be discussed on April 10, 2009 in "pithy Twitter posts." Upcoming titles include "A Wolf at the Table" by Augusten Burroughs, "The Story of a Marriage" by Andrew Sean Greer, and "Last Last Chance" by Fiona Maazel.

At 2 pm today (Tuesday), Picador will be promoting the new club by giving away free copies of "The Housekeeper and the Professor."

Chapter & Verse readers are reminded that Monitor book reviews are also available on Twitter at twitter.com/csmonitoronline.

(And Monitor book podcasts are available as well at iTunes.)
