Sarah Palin: “Going Rogue” hits bookstores early
By Marjorie Kehe | 09.29.09
It was originally scheduled for release next spring, but now HarperCollins says former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin’s memoir, which is entitled, “Going Rogue,” will be in bookstores by Nov. 17 – just in time for the lucrative holiday shopping season. (To maximize hard cover sales, the book will not be available in e-book format till Dec. 26.)
The publisher is obviously expecting a big return on the book. The initial print run will be 1.5 million copies, as was the case with Sen. Edward Kennedy’s memoir “True Compass.” (That book was also speeded to press earlier than had been expected after the senator’s death on Aug. 25.)
Palin has told the Anchorage Daily News that she hopes her book will serve as an “unfiltered forum” as she has been troubled by “so many things written and said through mainstream media that have not been accurate.” Palin has not disclosed what she is being paid for her memoir, which is said to be about 400 pages in length.
“Governor Palin has been unbelievably conscientious and hands-on at every stage, investing herself deeply and passionately in this project,” says Jonathan Burnham, publisher of Harper. “It’s her words, her life, and it’s all there in full and fascinating detail.” Palin has also had the help of ghostwriter Lynn Vincent.
As for content, we’ll all have to wait till November to find out. But the book’s title may hint somewhat at its tone. During last year’s presidential campaign, pundits suggested that Palin, John McCain’s vice presidential choice, ended up “going rogue” and defying his campaign’s control.
And then, of course, there’s the question that most interests politicos, touched on in a story by the Monitor ’s David Montero: Is the book connected with a possible 2012 presidential bid for Palin?

Can’t wait to run out and buy this book. Will I find it under HUMOR or FICTION!!!!
4. Doug Wolfgram | 09.29.09
How can it be an ‘unfiltered forum’ when it is one-sided? Forums are two-waydiscussions. Also, if she is being paid an ‘undisclosed amount’ the information cannot possibly be objective. I am interested in what she has to say, but why promote it as though this is the only truth. It should just be promoted as ‘my side of the story’ which is all that it is.
5. Adam | 09.29.09
So, getting a divorce, having a child with a child without wedlock, quitting the office of the Governor all equal ‘going rogue’? It’s more like ‘going psychotic’.
6. American Critic | 09.29.09
This is a call to all in the land of the Free.. Let’s send a message. Let’s do all we can not to buy this book. The last thing that needed is to show any form of encouragement.
7. Rleb Blco | 09.29.09
The way thy are!! Always getting advantage of a minute of FAME !! thriying to make money out of notthing!! very lucrative fame !! Thats the way they are, POLITICAL PEAPLE!!
8. Chuck Norris | 09.29.09
The only way I would be interested in buying this book would be if it came on a cardboard roll.
9. BrokenArrow | 09.29.09
Is there anyone capable of making a bigger spectacle of herself, I think not.
Of course this will be purchased in BLUK by her big money backers, then the sham of the BEST SELLER LIST will ensue. Lord, I grow weary of the sham and drudgery that is our political carnival.
She should donate it all to charity, you betcha. GAG.
11. james m. | 09.29.09
Don’t you have to be able to read and speak coherently before you can write a book that garners a 1.5 million copy run? Beyond that, how on Earth did the ghost get 400 pages of print worthy material from her?
12. ericdcr1@yahoo.com | 09.29.09
You Obama haters need to go away. I agree with Gadaffi when he says Obama should be king. Forget Palin.
13. Disgusted…. | 09.29.09
if you’re as disgusted with Palin as politician as I’m (just think - she might be making difference for our country! for our children!) please DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! You don’t want to support people like Palin. Thank you.
16. US Citizen | 09.29.09
She obviously represents something important to millions of conservative-minded Americans, and altough I disagree with her on most things, I certainly respect my fellow Americans’ view on different issues, and the fact that there are millions of them out there can’t be ignored or taken lightly.
The problem I have is that she represents the worst of the United States and the conservatives/Republicans need to find a way to a WHOLE LOT better than Sarah Palin! She’s a truly ignorant woman who can’t even answer the “tough” questions posed to her by the “mainstream gotcha press”… things like “What do you read?”. She doesn’t read. She doesn’t know anything about the world. She’s ignorant and she needs to go away, forever.
Conservative America, you can do better than this, can’t you? Is this the best you’ve got? Really?
17. Glenn | 09.29.09
I just read your rules. You call the above comments construct debate, what a joke. Only Palin haters are allowed to comment.
18. Andrew | 09.29.09
I refuse to buy this book as it will support Mrs. Palin. I recommend everyone else following suit.
19. John Fitzgerald | 09.29.09
In a world full of brilliant people, there are many whom I will turn to for answers to how my world works. She isn’t one of them.
Can’t we have a list of people that are simply ignored having so clearly demonstrated ignorance?

21. Jay Gregs | 09.29.09
Palin wrote a book? I have little faith she could read a book let alone write one. I must admit I am curious what the pop-ups will be.

23. HippyHawk | 09.29.09
Well it certainly is interesting to see how a Christian Women and her Memoirs are being treated here by the commentors.
24. justiceserved | 09.29.09
Maybe she’ll explain why she attended 6 schools to get a 4 year degree and even release her transcripts! How can a book about her even be assembled with her input when she displayed such a lack of knowledge on the campaign trail? Oh, I get it, it’s about her favorite topic; herself!
25. DSC | 09.29.09
I would have liked, “Gettin’ All Mavericky” better. How many more hip nicknames does she have, which no one uses except her?
26. Richard Hogan | 09.29.09
Only in America. Only in America could such a laughably unqualified buffoon get nominated to be Vice President, babble incoherently for months, and then get paid huge sums to write about her thoroughly uninteresting self. I’m sure, however, that Harper will provide her with an editor who knows English. If so, her utter vacuity will be all the more obvious.
27. Steve | 09.29.09
Sarah Palin is an inspiring figure, a woman who took on the good ol’ boy network in Alaska and won. She embodies the values of personal responsibility and individual freedom that made this country great, and millions of Americans hope she will help fight the slide into socialism that is currently under way. That’s why her book will be a huge best seller. All of you Palin-haters will just have to grin and bear it!
28. John | 09.29.09
It has big, easy words and nice colorful pictures. The book is also known as “Sarah’s First Pop-Up Book”
29. Mister | 09.29.09
Yawn, another novel of fiction comes out by an author who doesn’t know anything. Ho hum. So what’s on TV tonight?
30. A~ | 09.29.09
Seriously. This is just about money. She quit as Governor of Alaska because she knew she could make millions writing a book and doing speaking engagements.
She’s a loony. The fact that people love how she ’speaks’ to them just goes to show how much trouble we’re in. The far right has gone off a cliff and is dragging the rest of the GOPers with it. Pretty soon she’ll have her own show on Fox where she can spout her mental obscenities to her adoring crowds. Heaven help us.
31. William The Cooperator | 09.29.09
Someone should tell her that:
(A)the make word for make up isn’t “rogue” but “rouge.” Obviously this is an allusion to all the RNC money she spent at department stores while on campaign. Besides, “Going Rouge” would be so much more appropo.
(B)those of us literate enough to actually read her book (not that all of us will) can actually see through the attempt at the use of a synonym for her favorite word, “maverick.” And not only that but that is a tired word, concept, and political motivator.
The fame-whoring here is seriously transparent, the comparisons with Teddy K. disgusting (Seriously–what has she accomplished with her life–the comparison is an insult), and the ploy to start her 2012 presidential race warchest obvious.
All she has ever done in her life, outside the biological function of birth, she has quit before she finished–school, successful parenting, Govenorship of AK…all she does is quit.
Why is half of this nation in love with a quitter? Sex appeal? I just don’t get it.
32. Seth | 09.29.09
She is soap opera. She is vanity and greed. She is undisciplined. She is not to be trusted with the protection of this country or the constitution.
34. Eric | 09.29.09
She can’t be original, even took the name of the book from a Bit on SNL that Tina Fey did when she was with Senator McCain when Tina says “listen up I’m going Rouge here” but I say good for her that she can snow some people.
35. Just an American | 09.29.09
Who is she really? no one,a failure,a quitter……what could her book say to change that? We as a country need to look forward not backwards
36. Huling | 09.29.09
Sounds like a lot of insecurity out there. It’s so easy and petty to join the mob and poke fun at Gov. Palin on a blog. I’d like to see how any of you would fare in a face to face discussion with her. My guess is that she would make you all look very foolish. Try thinking for yourself and cut back on the Kool-Aid.
37. Bill | 09.29.09
I think its wonderful that the Republican Party now has a complete idiot as their spokesperson. She doesn’t even have half the brains of Rush Limbaugh. That is really saying something. The left wing should support this new mentally challenged right wing leader who thinks she can see Russia from here back yard.
38. Al | 09.29.09
Say what you want about her but she will be a major factor in the 2012 election. Many like her since she is true conservative and speaks with authority on conservative issues. After four years of socialism, massive trillion dollar debt and big government in every part our lives this country will be ready for someone that wants to lower taxes and get big government out of our lives. Just like Carter opened the door for Reagan. You will see…..
39. Flint | 09.29.09
“Only in America. Only in America could such a laughably unqualified buffoon get nominated to be Vice President….”
Richard (#26), While I don’t believe that Palin was a good nominee for Vice President and definitely shouldn’t even consider running for President, supporters of the current administration can’t say much because we’ve got (slow) Joe Biden in office as VP right now. Although I do give him credit for doing his job, which is making the President look really good in comparison…
40. Michael | 09.29.09
“Palin has told the Anchorage Daily News that she hopes her book will serve as an “unfiltered forum”
Translation - a way to bloviate without anyone being able to actually question her. She is going out of her way to actually avoid quetions, as in posting in Facebook, trying to avoid further embarassment.
41. Tim B | 09.29.09
When Palin says she was never found guilty of wrongdoing as Governor of Alaska, she is lying. She was found to have violated state ethics laws by a bipartisan panel last year. Do you understand these simple facts, Palin supporters, or is it more liberal bias trying to tear down good hardworking honest people who would never quit their important leadership positions halfway through?
42. Keith | 09.29.09
Two pages of Sarah Palin will be better than 400 pages of the baffoon who wrote Audacity of Hope.
43. Bob Owen | 09.29.09
I agree with Sarah politically. I can hardly wait for the release date. As for Sarah’s attending 6 colleges to get a 4 year degree (which I do not know whether the comment above is true), my brother went to 5 colleges to get his masters degree in engineering and he has an IQ of 155. He also has over 30 patents, not counting those inventions he had which belong to his three employers in the early part of his life after college.
44. paulo | 09.29.09
Wow why all the anger and hate! What did this woman ever do to you! Read the book or don’t read the book, but don’t hate, it’s not good for you.
45. Richard | 09.29.09
“personal attacks on other commenters are not (welcome), and will not be published.”
These are the comment rules. Who monitors this? I don’t care about Palin one way or the other but most the “discussion” here are just personal attacks. Weak minds attack others when they have no ideas of their own.
46. Jennifer | 09.29.09
I can’t wait to read this book. What a great title!
P.S.
Palin haters get a life. We all know you’ll be hidden in the back of the bookstore reading this book! LOL Get over it!
47. Robert G. | 09.29.09
Quote from the article: “Palin has also had the help of ghostwriter Lynn Vincent.”
Lynn Vincent ghostwrites a LOT of things. This isn’t Palin’s work; it’s someone else’s.
Don’t compare her to Ted Kennedy. You might not like his politics and his personal life may have been a mess, but Kennedy’s accomplishments included staying on the job until the end.
Sarah, you walked away from Alaska when you were most needed. You’re a quitter.
48. captainkona | 09.29.09
She should have called it “Going FAIL”. It would more accurately reflect her Governorship, her business dealings, her VP bid (which was the single most pathetic in American history) and her ability to raise a family.
LOL….just, LOL.
49. Mike | 09.29.09
Reading the comments just confirms the belief that the left is terrified of this woman. If she was such a loon and as irrelevant as the left would have us believe, no one would bother to comment. I look forward to my advance copy, and buying several as gift for friends. I can’t hardly wait to see the New York Times, Newsweek, and others trash the book and further galvanize real Americans.
50. justiceserved | 09.29.09
In response to Bob Owen, Palin received a degree in journalism, not a master’s in engineering as your brother did. It shows her to be a quitter, and flighty, which she has displayed by her public actions, quitting committees in Alaska when other’s disagreed with her and bailing as Gov. to pursue $$$. She IS a rogue/charlatan/huckster who in a prior day would be selling snake oil. She had no knowledge of the larger world prior to the election and I cannot see how she is acquiring it by promoting herself & this book. As the Gov. of the least populated state in the union she couldn’t take the heat and quit. I too went to numerous colleges, earned a BS, became a mediator, was involved in numerous start-ups, lived abroad, and would share my transcripts with anyone. Palin is a waffle house waitress, not to demean waffle house waitresses, but she is not fit for public office, except in those states where education is low, racism high, and any true knowledge is frowned upon. She is an anti-intellectual ala the mob who buried our country the last eight years!
51. CHRISTOPHER VOIGT | 09.29.09
Boy,all you panty wearing libs must be very afraid of her.God bless her.I know most of you don’t believe in God.
54. Karl Marx | 09.29.09
Why are all my followers so scared of this woman? Does she represent a threat to my ideals? Did she remove the corruption in Alaska we need (in her own Party) to promote my agenda for your Country? We know have churches following me (Black Liberation Theology), we are about to control the economy with health care, forced green technologies and ignoring the resources in you own country. Please do not misunderstand our motives with “global warming”, it is about control! We can forge way beyond Socialism; we have the opportunity to remove the Capitalistic Pigs who represent job growth in your country. We have the chance to enrich other countries pursuits to remove the wicked sins of you Americans. Corruption is good! Ignore this woman, as any anger we show only “feeds her base”. No one should be responsible for their own actions, let the Government help all the victims of hard work and independent thought. Hate your country and trust your leaders, that is the way to fairness. Punish the CIA, Punish those who succeed and we will take down this sinful country! Please do not mention her name again, you only make her stronger. Obama will take us to a World Currency, remove the “dollar” of sin and all the “C” students will receive the same grades in life as those working for “A’s”. It is only fair, right? Follow me for my way is the way of your leader. We will remove the weapons which have caused so much suppression beyond your borders and the remainder of the world will cease to hate you after your weapons are gone for good. She probably believes in the tragedies of history the “west” has tried to sell us. Why should your country fight wars for others. Democracy shall perish, follow me my minions.
55. Tim B | 09.29.09
Predominate conservative opinion here appears to be that anyone who dislikes Palin is afraid of her. It seems her constant self-promotion as a truth-telling maverick has worked on you. I’ll try to briefly explain the hatred towards her: it comes from the same place as Cheney hatred. What do the two have in common? A complete disregard for basic truth, an infuriating penchant for creating strawmen caricatures of the opposition’s viewpoints, and a publicly smug sense of satisfaction at having perfected those two traits.
When Sarah Palin quits her job for no legitimate reason, then makes up that death panel lie and uses her disabled son as a supporting prop, and she is still hailed as “principled” by her supporters, you tend to get some angry people who live in the real world who really wish others would rejoin them.
56. Katherine | 09.29.09
Sarah Palin vs Barack Obama? Most of you penning your hatred venom of Palin in this blog would choose Obama and probably did.
So, really, what you have to say here, matters not.
Maybe you should go to Youtube.com and see the latest popular video of ACORN ‘community organizers’ (Obama’s groupies) praying to him. Here is a link so you don’t have to strain yourselves…

As a fiscal conservative, I will not buy this book. I will check it out at the Library, and I encourage any and everyone of you who wants to read this book also go to the library. That way, lil’ Miss Sarah will not get your hard earned money!
58. Leslie | 09.29.09
Wow read all these comments, really..look at society as whole here, this is how you react to a book being published? Why is it that any politician, survivor, journalist, wife of a prominent figure etc. who writes a book is called out in such evil ways? We are a free country with rights of free speech, free enterprise, if the book is not of your flavor don’t buy it, don’t read it, but don’t slander the one who’s story it is. Everyone has a story and everyone has a trail of garbage in their story per the voice of someone else who has not lived the life? We are all aware that politics have gotten out of control or should I say VERY MUCH IN CONTROL. Not what God intended for our Government, read your Bibles. If Sara Palin has an opportunity to tell her version of her life up until now so be it, don’t read it! But maybe to hear direct from her own mouth may bring some answers to the long asked questions you claim were never answered. If not she still has every right to prosper in America just like everyone else does even those that aren’t American?!
59. Sharon | 09.29.09
Thank you, Sarah Palin, for your strength and courage, integrity, tenacity, and unflinching faith in God. You Go Girl!
60. Peter Parker | 09.29.09
Sarah Palin has a simplistic world view and demonstrated ignorance on the workings of the Federal Reserve during the fall of 2008 thus towing the line for crooked Wall Street Investment Banks. Now Palin seeks profit from a book deal. Informed citizens are caught in a media spun web of political crooks, phonies and rouges.
61. Allen | 09.29.09
I know Sarah personally as she has been a long time family friend, and while I don’t personally agree with her politics, most of my family does.
Her story is actually quite simple and uncomplicated, she stands up for what she believe in no matter what. Even in the face of staunch opposition and facts, she’ll fight. She doesn’t know much about history, foreign policy or economics, but she actually was a professional writer. One of her first jobs was working with my Mom as a journalist for the Frontiersman Newspaper in Wasilla. It might actually be the few things she is good at. So this book will likely be well written.
If you agree with her and are anxious about this book, have fun. You won’t be disappointed, because she is EXACTLY what you think. Nothing more. A small town girl that received a shoddy community college level education (yes her degree is from a university that she briefly attended) who grew up to be a journalist and soccer mom. She decided to stop complaining about politics and was elected mayor by others that were fed up (and actually voted since there was only a 15% turnout.) Those at the state level liked her attitude and got her into the governors office, then McCain decided he needed a woman and someone that didn’t have any skeletons in her closet. Besides the same problems that face most people in this country, she didn’t. Then the media dug into her life and discovered every dirty detail and derailed her political career. That’s it, no great mystery.
There is not depth to her, she really is just a regular person. And a lot of people will agree with her because she is just like them. They like hearing about themselves, especially from someone that can actually write and has had some lucky breaks. So yes it will be a success. I won’t buy it but I know plenty of other people will. I do have to laugh about the definition of Rogue. It does seem to fit her well.
And yes, this book and a potential talk show are the main reasons she quit being governor. She was stressed out about all the money and time that fighting the ethics complaints was costing her family, when the book deal and talk show came along she decided to quit.
63. USrevolution | 09.29.09
Wow, it is amazing to me how many haters there are out there. OHH, thats right, you all are enjoying living off my tax dollars through either welfare, fraudualant disability, or self inflicted unemployment. The days of stealing our tax dollars are going to come to an end and big government will fall.
64. Pinktricam | 09.29.09
AWESOME!
I’m looking forward to finally reading Sarah’s side. She’s the true standard of the American woman. I’m buying copies for all the women in my family this Christmas.
65. Richard | 09.29.09
No way a Gov from a back woods state like Alaska or Arkansas would ever make it to President! Well almost nobody.
66. Danny | 09.29.09
Wow! I came across this site in interest for Sarah Palin’s book, which I will buy. This is clearly a site that caters to liberals. I never knew you liberals were so afraid of her.
67. USrevolution | 09.29.09
And all the comments you have posted you dont “regard as obscene, defamatory, or intended to incite violence.”
That is HORRIFYING to me. May god bless Sarah Palin and may all of you eventually wake up to what it is really all about.
68. dANNY | 09.29.09
She’s dumb. A political idiot. Not in the mainstream. Surrounded by flunkies who agree with her. Not that pretty. Talentless. The personality of a slug. And, she is laughable as a serious political figure.
Yes, I’m talking about Tina Fey.

Yep. little miss Death Panel has all the credibility in the world, doesn’t she?
I’m elated that she has a book. I hope you Lemmings follow her closely.
The more Sara Falin speaks, the more Liberals there will be.
70. chibuyer | 09.29.09
The joke is that anyone believes she wrote a word of this “memoir”. Her “collaborator” is nothing but a ghost writer.
Someone sign me up. I want to write a book without writing it and make millions for nothing more than being a hockey mom.
71. what’s the matter with you people | 09.29.09
Well, I for one pre ordered the book because I think Sarah Palin is great!
72. Lori | 09.29.09
Wish I could write a book and sell thousands or millions of copies…15 minutes of fame is now longer thanks to the American media fascination. Too bad we can’t be fascinated with our own lives…
73. Sussan | 09.29.09
How can a woman who was pregnant when she got married, had a teenage daughter become an unwed mother, treats people who disagree with her with total disdain, believes in two Americas, lies frequently, quits every job she ever had, says she adores her children but wishes she had “a wife” on the campaign trail with her (and has barely been with them for the past two months), can barely string a literate sentence together, and who is a member of a church that believes in witches, be called a ‘true conservative?” Is that really who you want to align yourself with? She is attractive, an ex-pageant contender, and not much else. Seriously. She whines a good game, but how in the world can you believe that in the 8 weeks since she quit her job, she has come up with 400 pages of anything but narcissistic whining? If it is anything else, you can bet she did not write it (and that’s my bet.) Also, since she refuses to be interviewed, this book will make it to the bestseller lists and promptly drop. She MAY allow herself to be interviewed on Fox, but those fans are already poised to buy her drivel. The rest of us…no way on Earth do I care what she has to say, and I refuse to contribute to the Sarah Palin Fan Club.
74. Joni | 09.29.09
It’s easy to see by the comments and negative publicity, that the liberals are still scared of this woman…If she was not a concern, they would not be concerned enough to have a comment.
I say good for her, she has taken the most evil publicity and hateful comments…If she can take her family from the face of this evil, profit from her experience and live “happily ever after”…good for her and her family. Jealous bunch of libs aren’t you?
75. Chuck Johnston | 09.29.09
Let’s see, published Nov. 17… Should be in the remainder bins by Dec. 15, right?
77. Nepenthe | 09.29.09
I love Palin. Anyone that can get Libs panties in a wad like she does is fantastic. Shouldn’t one of you libs start attacking her down syndrome son soon? I read some of the worst possible things that can be said about someone during the election about her son. I did read the one comment by Adam that attempted to smear her on her child.
78. ColonelP | 09.29.09
I can’t wait to read the parts on how people were riding on dinosaur backs only a few thousand years ago and how pregnant rape victims should be forced to have the rapists’ children. Reading the chapters on shooting wild animals from helicopters should be really cool since both the helicopters and the animals are moving, and it requires such skill, determination, and aggression. Hey I saw an airplane up in the sky this morning, and Ms. Palin would concur, that makes me an expert on all kinds of airplanes and flight in general. Oh and Vice President Biden will be happy, I guess, to know that he has many, many new constitutional powers that Sarah Palin enumerated on unedited national television when asked what are the duties of the Vice President. Drill baby drill!

I am great supporter of Sarah Palin. She is what America needs. If she is elected President she can once and for all destroy this rouge cowboy called the United States of America on the world stage. The world will be netter off with an America that looks inward at itself and leave the rest of the world to sort out the mess that America has caused.
Go Sarah Go!!! all the way to the Whitehouse.
81. Jim Dandy | 09.29.09
Palin is about as opposite of “Rogue” as one can get. Her mind has no capacity for original or independent thought. She just parrots what, to her total lack of education and even native intelligence, makes sense to her. And what makes sense to her seems completely political and devoid of insight. She does not notice that she and her family are a joke. Her continuance in the public eye is pure entertainment, like “Dumb and Dumber”. Those that are her supporters really need to have their heads examined because they are definitely not on straight.
82. Ruby2sday | 09.29.09
Love her. She represents the best of American women, and I don’t mean those that claim to be women but are all too willing to abort an ‘inconvenient’ child and shrill like harpies (ala Joy Behar or Janeane Garafolo). It’ll be a bigger seller than Teddy’s book, unless he devotes a large portion of it to Chappaquiddick, women, booze and immoral/unethical conduct. I wouldn’t buy Teddy’s book if it DID come on a roll.
And Adam, Sarah’s not divorcing. And, I’ll bet 100 to 1 that you’re no where near the man that Todd is.
83. Betty | 09.29.09
You’re all just jealous because you aren’t going to make a mint for just being a normal everyday citizen and telling your story. I’m going to buy it for sure and I bet a bunch of you Palin haters will too just because for good or for bad, she has peaked the interest of the American public.
84. Karl Marx | 09.29.09
I bet the first printing of 1.5 million copies sells out by that holiday in December. My minions will not keep quite and thus they spread the venom of a “free society”. Trust you Government and hate your country. We cannot defeat her with logic or facts so my followers please shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this is onlt helping revive the Reagan Conservative Philosophy which took down our best chance for the “movement”. Long live Jimmy Carter and the fireplace with those cute sweaters. We shall save the victims from having to work and stop those who want rewards for their efforts. Now my children, please leave her from our words, we shall not be afraid of a god fearing honest woman.
85. Betty | 09.29.09
From what I am seeeing here and elsewhere the biggest problem this country has right now is that our dictionary has been defiled. It seems that the word truth no longer holds the meaning:
the true or actual state of a matter, conformity with fact or reality, verity,a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like.
It now means:
Those things which members of the liberal left deem to be actual, verified in their minds or keeping with their proscribed principles.
Interesting. I’ll have to get in touch with the publishers of Webster’s and let them know.
86. BigTexPatriot | 09.29.09
To all those of you who keep harping that liberals are afraid of Palin, you are mistaken.
The liberals, and moderates (such as I) too, are afraid of her followers! The real haters.
87. Abbee Lee | 09.29.09
As a women, I would be interested to read it as she is a strong part of our country and is a strong women with strong morals and integrity and a Christian as I am. She is a mother of many children and has been able to be successful at that and other things…this is commendable, if you ask me…
88. Mark | 09.29.09
So much hate. Why is it if you do not agree with someone’s views you need to rip them apart? Grow up a little and show a smidgen of decency. Is she the only politician to say some dumb things? I know Obama has said a few, http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/barackobama/a/obama-isms.htm# They just don’t get covered (covered up?) the same. Don’t even start with VP Joe’s ability to butcher most of his public comments. How many books has Obama written? Was he going for the quick buck or is he held to a different standard? “Dude, where’s my dignity?” Amazing…
90. P Henry | 09.29.09
The last thing we need is another incompetent, nitwit Republican governor from an oil-rich state making an fool out of themselves on a national stage. We just got rid of one in January.
91. Handsome | 09.29.09
First of all, anyone who says liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin, that is
a double edged sword. Most liberals, moderates, Dems, independents and
even sensible conservatives such as George Will, Kathleen Parker, and Peggy
Noonan (a woman who truly worships at the oracle of Reagan) say she simply
is not qualified and generally get a good laugh out of her; inability to
answer a simple question such as what papers does she read; middle and
high school civics questions such as Supreme Court rulings and how
somehow urban areas of the nation are the “Fake America.”
In her Hong Speech, according to papers in Asia and not palabum in American
press, many found her speech to be litte more than a rant about domestic
partisan issues-F-22 spending cuts, healthcare in context of “universal
care bad, overpaid insurance policies good” and tax cuts and deregulation;
spouting well worn and disproven talking points that banks were told to
make bad loans (all empircal and expert evidence disproves the myth of
ACORN and the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act causing crisis)and
Afghanistan. How many of her points had any bearing on bankers from
Berlin, Dublin, Tokyo or Taipei eludes logic, as she did not present
the U.S healthcare debate or increased spending in the context of
increased public debt may cause some pause for investors/creditors
of U.S debt instruments e.g Treasuries; only presenting in terms
of buzzwords-socialism, tax cuts, death panels, Main Street, USA (once
again, relevance to a banker or fund manager from Tokyo or London).
However, the “fear” is the fact that she is trying to assert herself as some
type of force on very important public policy debates. If she was just some
blowhard A.M radio talker in Alaska or columnist like Jonah Goldberg,
there would not be much fear, just laughs. But, as a former VP
candidate and politico, she is attempting to dictate the terms of
policy discourse. Like many demagogues before her-Hitler, Lenin, Castro,
Khomeini-she offers simple answers to very complex issues and appeals
to prejudices, fear and ignorance. While she herself would be lucky to
receive 25% of the aggregate popular vote in an actual Presidential contest,
that small base is enough to cause concern and potential harm to the order
and harmony of the Republic. As many have learned to their peril, a
dedicated vocal minority can attain power when the moderate majority is
apathetic. Remember in 1932, the Nazi Party only held 33% of the vote but
were the largest single voting bloc in the Reichstag. Fidel Castro was
a failed revolutionary wannabe in 1952 but returned to become dictator
of Cuba 6 1/2 years later.
Also what scares any thinking person is Palin’s inability to know what she
does not know. The fact that such a person desires to have any sway
upon U.S. public policy and has had some sway, enough for the ELECTED
president to have to discredit statements such as “death panels” is
a scary thought. What is scarier is the majority (Dems) seem to not have
enough spine to stand up early on (Obama waited until September) and
call a lie as such and stand by their legislation.
Once she is disposed of in 2012 primaries (if she opts to run), that will
be the end of the Sarah Palin soap opera. If she by luck wins, she will
be crushed with one swift stroke, ending her sad Jerry Springer saga
once and for all.
92. Handsome | 09.29.09
Just as a follow-up, here are Palin’s Top 10 quotes. Ask, after reading her
“gems” if this is the type of person you would hire and place in a position
of major responsibility if you personally had to make a hiring choice.
Then ask, do you want such a person entrusted with the safety, security
and harmony of the United States.
1. “As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border.” —Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska’s proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS’s Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008: She believed Russian trade and diplomatic missions take place over Alaskan airspace, even though no evidenc of this has ever been produced. Link: http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Did_Palin_lie_about_trade_missions_0927.html
While she did meet with a Russian diplomat in 2007, there was no forward movement between Alaska and Russia on Transartic issues. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2008174647_palinrussia12m0.html Outside of that, no evidence exists Putin ever reared his head over Alaska. Most Russian leaders either fly over poles or to major coastal locales (LAX, NYC, DC), not Alaska; same with Soviet predecessors.
2. “I think on a national level your Department of Law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we’ve been charged with and automatically throw them out.” —Sarah Palin, referring to a department that does not exist while attempting to explain why as president she wouldn’t be subjected to the same ethics investigations that compelled her to resign as governor of Alaska, ABC News interview, July 7, 2009
3. “We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. … We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation.” —Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in Greensoboro, N.C., Oct. 16, 2008: Promoting hate and discord
by implying urbanites are anti-America and cities are “Fake America”
4. “Ohh, good, thank you, yes.” —Sarah Palin, after a notorious Canadian prank caller complimented her on the documentary about her life, Hustler’s “Nailin Paylin,” Nov. 1, 2008
5. “Well, let’s see. There’s ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ―” —Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008 : Common
excuse is she is not an attorney. This is 8th and 11th grade civics/history
and the fact she is ignorant of basic U.S history beyond buzzwords (Constitution, small government) is scary
6. “All of ‘em, any of ‘em that have been in front of me over all these years.” —Sarah Palin, unable to name a single newspaper or magazine she reads, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008
7. “They are also building schools for the Afghan children so that there is hope and opportunity in our neighboring country of Afghanistan.” —Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Oct. 5, 2008
8. “[T]hey’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.” —Sarah Palin, getting the vice president’s constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008: Actually believes VP
is involved in actual legislative process.
9. “I told the Congress, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,’ on that Bridge to Nowhere.” –Sarah Palin, who was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it
10. “I’m the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can’t.’” —Sarah Palin, as quoted by former City Council Member Nick Carney, after he raised objections about the $50,000 she spent renovating the mayor’s office without approval of the city council: Read this article in Salon
about her time as mayor:http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/09/17/palin_mayor/

Read em and weep. The two hottest things going right now are Sarah Palin and Glen Beck. If that troubles you — choke on it!
94. Kim | 09.29.09
Interesting how she’s still able to bring out the Palin haters… life must be pathetic to hate that much. Seriously.
95. Karl Marx | 09.29.09
Please do not make the argument my minions that experience is important for the Presidency. Your current hope never ran a lemonade stand, has just turned over Europe to Russia and we commend him and sing indoctrination songs in school. He has successfully increased your debt and deficit levels beyond repair. The movement will overcome democracy, let the sleeping giants alone. Principles are the only way to defeat our corruption and save freedom. We have the opportunity to win this war, our comrades will be slaughtered in the next election but the end justifies the movement. She only cleaned up one State from corruption; we need Charlie Gibson and Tina to distract the American public from the real issues. I mean what is more important than the Bush Doctrine? Of course it is only a “phrase” and not a doctrine which has many different meanings but your leader is busy convincing you he is “digging you out of a hole”. He is in charge of the “fair share” movement while dismantling your military. Carry on Minions!
96. Karl Marx | 09.29.09
Unfortunately, the people will vote with their wallets. She will sell many books, out sell our lion, Teddy, but in the end, corruption shall overcome. Someday the movement will succeed and elections will not be a part of the Capitalistic Demons of America. Sarah Palin has principles which are dangerous to our movement but corruption and Teleprompters will overcome this annoyance to our mission.
97. Karl Marx | 09.29.09
Is it true that Newt will be her running mate? No, please say no. The movemnet would be crushed, stop them now, Putin is our man!
98. Edward Meardon | 09.29.09
Wow. This really brought out the Palin haters! There are things said here, that that would NOT be tolerated against Hillary Clinton, or Nancy Pelosi. This book is Palin’s chance to answer her critics, because you have to know that CNN, CBS, NBC, and ABC certainly are not interested! If you don’t like Palin, don’t buy her book, but you haters should know that many people will be buying this book to hear what she has to say, and to spite you!
99. Adrian Veidt | 09.29.09
Can not wait for the book and have been searching the net non-stop hoping for find a site to pre-order.
Mrs. Palin is amazing and I can not say enough good things about her.
100. Bill Valenti | 09.29.09
Palin’s not a rogue, just another fraud milking the publicity she got from McCain’s stupendously bad pick last year. Here’s a song (”Sarah’s Faked Alaska”) about that:

Going Rogue really… better name for the book is “I Don’t Have a Clue, and America Knows It”
102. Grant | 09.29.09
You know, when I first learned about Sarah Palin’s “simple” life, I thought she was merely an average U.S. citizen who had the ability to inspire millions with ACTION. Silly me. She has the ability to inspire the world.
I think it disturbs some that a.) she a woman (tex) b.) she has accomplished things that Ivy League Grads haven’t accomplished c.) She has mastered Bill Clinton’s “Talking Points” ideas in short order.
To call Palin supporters “haters” is farcical - Go to any liberal website & look at how they actually demean her as a human being, continually refer to her sexually instead of as a co-citizen in our democracy. Degrading other humans for standing up for what they believe in will get you no where. Why don’t you get up off your duff & do it too? Oh, I guess you are too busy trampling on others . . . and I thought Dems were “the party of the people” - thanks for proving the lie.

How is it that a book expected in the spring is suddenly completed mid September? Not that hard to write? Not much for content?
If $arah is the best the Republicans have to offer, they’re really in trouble!
106. Becarefulofwhatyouwish | 09.30.09
Amazing! how a normal person, who became an elected governor without support of a political machinery and millions in “donations”, who has a nice family, is able to speak without a teleprompter, not afraid of speaking her mind, or to jump into a national political race without the years of rehearsal enjoyed by others who started on the same race much earlier; can energyze huge crowds and get so many scared that she may succeed at something good, whatever that may be. Just amazing….
107. Im factual | 09.30.09
To the Paline haters….I can understand. You have to watch Obama every day on TV. You are upset with Obama but you can’t yell at him…….you voted him into office. Obama was supposed to get us out of the wars…….he hasn’t done that..we are INCREASING out troops in Afghanistan. He was supposed to give us SHOVEL READY JOBS. He hasn’t done that. He was supposed to get us all health care…he hasn’t done that. He was supposed to make friends with all the world leaders……he hasn’t done that. He was not going to hire anyone who was a lobbist in the last 2 years……well he couldn’t even follow his own directions on that one.
There are so many things that you are angry about with Obama…that the only thing you can do is to transfer your anger to Sarah Palin.
108. Karl Marx | 09.30.09
My minions are now listening and stepping away from the woman. Her belief in the American people and her distaste for corruption of the Shining City is a hurdle for my efforts but please do not speak her name. We have the chosen one who will keep the movement alive. Chicago has taught him well. Yes he did, Yes he did!
109. IDESIGN | 09.30.09
Every time Obama opens his mouth, Palin is looking better and better. Obama turned out to be an empty suit who can’t put 2 sentences together without his teleprompter
110. Ajax Young | 09.30.09
totally ghosted. palin can’t be coherent for more then three words in a row, much less 400 pages. and in just a few months? not possible. this was 90% in the can a long time ago.
111. suki | 09.30.09
Actually Tina Fey, who makes her living copying people, copied the “going rogue” bit from Palin’s own call to commentator (Beck maybe?) saying she wasn’t being booked into media sessions that would be friendly to her by those assigned to “help” her. If I remember it right, she said she was ‘going rogue’ and making her own call.
It should be an interesting read and will have the libs bouncing off the walls.
112. Susan | 09.30.09
While many of the comments here were quite amusing, I find it deeply troubling that so many in our nation do not see through her. She was able work up large crowds of people. Perhaps they were not intelligent people, but they can vote. Perhaps they will vote based on misinformation they receive in urban-legend paranoid, conspiracy-theory email spam, on accusations, distortions and lies, and false beliefs about an America which can no longer exist the same way it did in a different era. They will allow themselves to be manipulated by propaganda.
I saw in the New York Times today that she’s having hard time getting bookings on the lecture circuit, and from that I have some hope that at least educated, thinking people realize her immense limitations. It’s also telling that she lacked the self-awareness to realize that her audience can’t be found there.
113. glenn boom | 09.30.09
Wow, her actions seem to strike an ugly nerve for so many who fail to comment on the actions (talk airplane) of the speaker of the House and others. Keep going Sarah, you impress me as a “real” person.

I miss her.
115. Stacy L. | 09.30.09
I love Sarah Palin! I will be placing my order after I click the submit button for my comment. Go Palin, all you haters, get a life and put all your bad energy to some good- maybe charity work or something.
116. Me | 09.30.09
I’m a liberal, and I’m terrified of Palin, yes.
I’m terrified of her, and of people like her.
I’m terrified of her, NOT because I’m afraid to “loose” in the game of American politics.
I’m terrified of her, and of politicians like her, because they treat American politics like just that — a game to be won or lost. I’m terrified of anyone who treats politics like a game.
Take a good hard look at why YOU, as a Republican, think Democrats are “terrified” of Palin — because she might (oh my god!) WIN?! Then YOU are what is wrong with politics in America.
It. is not. a. game.
It’s serious, deadly serious. Stop thinking about WINNING; stop thinking about BEING RIGHT. Take a good hard look at who will live or die, starve or eat, suicide or live a happy life, when deciding which politicians — and more importantly, which POLICIES — to support. Get out of your little box where everyone in the world is exactly like you (or else completely evil). Learn something about the world. Try actually caring about other people, not just those who look/think/act/live like you.
The more you idolize one person, and refuse to admit any of their faults, the more you turn this country into a DICTATORSHIP rather than a DEMOCRACY.
117. Nancy Henderson | 10.01.09
Sarah Palin , I will buy her book, and support her as a presidential nominee. Those of you who are spending your time bashing her, which is what most liberals do , have not heard or read what the N Y Times said about her after they heard her speak in China. To bad that you who are doing the bashing, have bought into the lies of the liberals It shows that you do not know history. If you all like socialism so much go live in a socialistic country. AMERICANS ARE WAKING UP TO THE FACT THAT, while they have been enjoying the freedoms bought with the lives of our soldiers in many wars, AND the nasty hollywood stars who have always been red and socialistic with everyones money but their own, and the liberal congress trying to communize our great Nation just like the rest of the world, WELL WAKE UP LIBERALS BECAUSE GRASS ROOTS ARE WAKING UP AND YOU WILL SEE AT THE ELECTIONS FOR YEARS TO COME that This Great Nation is One Nation Under God, and not into communism. The bums will be voted out. When you can’t see that John McCain would have lost bitterly without Sarah Palin, you are really blind. Sarah Palin was his only hope. John McCain has voted very liberally for many years and he is lucky that he received the votes he got. Millions of American’s are waking up and are going to see to it that the corruption in Washington DC is going to be voted out . You can kid yourself into thinking that Sarah Palin is unintelligent but the future will tell the truth.
If personal attacks on other commenters are not allowed here and won’t be published then why have the previous statements of anyone been allowed here.
118. MADELINE TREVISON | 10.01.09

Palin/Bachman (and Liz Cheney for secretary of state) 2012…Lets let the ladies have a chance to straighten out this mess.

I feel like taking a BATH after reading all the TRASHY comments left on this form. What the heck is wrong with you people?
122. Thane of Towson | 10.02.09
Whoever allowed Palin to title her book “Going Rogue” with all the play the word “rogue” can cause is probably the same person who told the Japanese to call their national health drink Calpis.
123. Carmen Matthews | 10.02.09
When we look at the meaning of “Going Rogue,” we have many choices in deciding what this book could be about, and why it is being written now.
Rogue means: Unprincipled, deceitful, unreliable, a vicious solitary animal who separates from the herd, and defraud.
So, is Sarah Palin saying, “Here’s where I’ve been. Here’s what happened to me? Here’s my struggles? I was a deer-in-headlights throughout the Presidential Campaign. I’m better now. Please forgive me for allowing the Republican party to use me. I’m a new person now. And, I’m really ready to lead you?”
Will the public buy this, given the far-reaching visual, audio and kinesthetic impression she made on millions of people?
No!!!!

You know…you can tell who the dumb-o-crats are the most scared of by who they attack the most. Look at Letterman (what a perverted old **** by the way), he hardly misses chance to downgrade her and she’s not even on the front burner. Not in public office, not a governor, nothing, but he still thinks it’s funny to knock her. They fear her because she can mobilize the ’sleeping giant’ which is the conservative America, not Obama’s Amerika. Just wait till her book smokes the presses. I may buy several copies just to pass out to friends. I love Sarah Palin, she’s also prettier than anything the dems can produce.
126. joe six pack | 10.02.09
I hope someone will take the time to read it to her and explain all the big words and complete sentences she’s pretending to have written.
127. Glen Beck | 10.02.09
You call yourselves christians? What is wrong with you people, don’t we have enough problems in this country? Can’t you do something more constructive with your time, then constantly making baseless remarks about someone you truely don’t even know? Goto chrurch and receive God!
128. Cooperscopy | 10.03.09
It’s funny to see the liberal’s response to this book. They continue to say she’s irrelevant, but, they take every opportunity ti trash her in every way they can. I think there’s a psychological disease on the left when it comes to Sarah Palin, and most of it is based on a deep seeded fear of her connection to millions of Americans. http://cooperscopy.blogspot.com/
129. Mary B. | 10.03.09
So glad that her book is coming out early. Do you think she will win a Pullitzer prize? Or maybe set a Guinness world record for the largest amount of B.S. ever published in one book? My only regret is that she did not entitle her book “The Sarah Palin Idiot’s Guide to Prolonging Your 15 Minutes of Fame”
130. Ed | 10.05.09
Wow you people are nasty, nasty people…I thought liberals were nice and understanding…wow guess I was wrong! Since when is Sarah getting a divorce? I guess that’s something else the left made up about her. She’s smarter and more experienced than that dumb-ass who’s in the white house now…and the guy from Delaware he picked to be his VP…Biden or something? At least the people of Delaware are relieved of having him as one of their US Senators now! You all can boycott her book as much as you want, it’s a run-away best seller already and it’s not even out yet!
131. bc | 10.08.09
I like and support Sarah Palin. She and her family were more like decent, regular folks than anyone the media had ever encountered. They then suffered more abuse than anyone I can ever think of at the hands of the media as a distraction from Barack Obama’s creepy associations from Chicago. That’s what the media really thinks of the US middle class… and you’re next.
Lazy thinkers let the media tell them what their opinions ought to be. The media is a fraud and Obama is a Fraud. Don’t be a lazy thinker.
133. Liberty or else | 10.09.09
Give me back my damn liberty
I only ask just one thing from any politician running for office, and that is will he or she actually up hold and protect the constitution of our country?
It seems as though all or at least most members of Congress have long forgotten that they swore to do just that when they took office. Perhaps they didn’t actually forget but figured that you would not take any notice while they trashed our constitution in order to fatten up their pockets with your hard earned cash.
I don’t see any one in either party even remotely concerned about the safeguarding of our constitution but I believe that Sarah would come the closest.
I’m suggesting that any incumbent who has proven to have ignored, sullied, tampered with or trashed our constitution or bill of rights should be removed from office and jailed immediately and not allowed to ever again have any part of the political process.
I’m also suggesting that any candidate that runs for office sign a contract to uphold and protect the constitution and if he or she fails to do so with any act in office be fined, jailed, disbarred and fired.
134. a true patriot | 10.16.09
Sarah Palin is not a politician, she is a strong, God-centered, family oriented woman who happens to be in politics. She fulfills her promises, something Mr. Obama needs to learn. As mayor of Wasilla, she promised a pay cut, she took it. She promised a tax break, she fulfilled it. She is not all talk, she takes action with profound integrity, honesty, and transparency. As Govenor, she brought Alaska to a surplus. She had the highest approval of ANY Govenor in any state. Because she connects with the people. Because she listens to people and does everything in the best interest of the people. She resigned from Govenor, not at the decline in her administration but at the peak where there was a stand still. All, let me repeat, ALL 12 accounts of ethics violations were dismissed, but through litigation and expenses, about 2 million, she saw it as a stand still for Alaska, not for her. She resigned for the benefit of Alaska and the people. Believe her or not. I do. The beauty of America is that you have the freedom to express your mind without being punished, even against our own president if we don’t happen to agree with his actions. Sarah is a breath of fresh air. She is a powerful voice of the people. In general when polled, people lean conservative. Because conservatism is what protects your freedom, it is what stands for the ideals of the American dream. You can come from nothing, get a business loan, start a business and earn profits to propell your business and create jobs along the way. Conservatism is not what is killing our dollar, and Socialism is not what has flooded millions of immigrants into this country searching for the American dream. You want to relinquish your freedom to the government? Then by all means, surrender to socialism. You want to keep your freedom granted to you by the bill of rights? Then say no to big Government. I will buy her book. Go Palin!

In regards to my previous post, I meant capitalism not conservatism on the issue and point of what isn’t killing our dollar.

I am looking forward to the book. I don’t understand why people are so afraid of this book. I thought it was the conservatives that were supposed to judge a book buy its cover.
