In the summer of the long recession, US jobless claims climbed up this week despite hopes that it would go the other way.

Because it's tough to find a job, each week Monitor staffers comb the job listings in search of interesting places to work. The most intriguing jobs we found this week are in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Baltimore; Camden, S.C.; Orlando, Fla.; Crandon, Wis.; Boston; Bethel, Ohio; Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; and Omaha, Neb.

1. Freelance wig maker
Employer: Arizona Broadway Theater
