Sarah Palin’s speech written by a vegetarian
By Eoin O'Carroll | 09.08.08
I’m not naïve enough to think that Sarah Palin crafted every word of her speech last week at the Republican National Convention. But I assumed that whoever did write it had at least a passing familiarity with animal carcasses. After all, a Google News search reveals at least 1,393 news stories published in the past week with the keywords “Sarah Palin,” “speech,” and “red meat.”
But I was wrong. According to Time magazine, former Bush speechwriter Matthew Scully, the man behind Palin’s speech, is a vegetarian “known for his vigorous defense of animal rights.” He is often at odds with the NRA and opposes “more brutal versions” of hunting, such as gunning down wolves from airplanes, a practice Palin supports.
Mr. Scully’s dietary practices are in line with statements by Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, who encouraged people to curb global warming by eating less meat. Mr. Pachauri, who is also a vegetarian, cited the greenhouse-gas emissions and habitat destruction caused by raising cattle and other animals for food.

How can this man live with himself supporting and writing speeches for Palin? Time for a reality check man!

Palin’s speech was written by someone who does not live in accordance with his philosophical beliefs. What a shock!
It seems The ends justify the means for people like John McCain, Sarah Palin and Matthew Scully. I fear for America.

Well, that’s a lie. When you write, you tell a little bit about yourself. Unless the man has suddenly changed, it was not Matthew Scully who wrote the speech.

Eliza, would you care to enlighten the rest of us? Who wrote Ms. Palin’s speech?

I feel the speechwriter’s personal views are irrelevant. His job is to use his skills to help make the intended points, and in this case the point was to inform the voters about the Governor. The speech was to introduce her, fully, clearly and to make her appealing. Apparently, the GOP felt that it would be appealing to offer a “pit bull” as the backup for the person who controls the largest arsenal on earth. Wouldn’t a pit bull say something like, “We’ll show them they can’t push us around. I’ll attack first.”

I think Mr. Scully has lot all his credibility by helping advance the political career of such a dangerous politician

not that shocking if you think about it. republicans claim to be pro-life and super christian but are opposed to turning the other cheek or helping the poor (like jesus did) but are for spending lots of money on war. big surprise that scully is a hypocrite also.

Take a good look at this link. I don’t know if the amount of insanity enveloping this country has been properly studied or reported on. http://www.vegsource.com/talk/top/ LOOK AT IT. Here is what you’ll find: “Obama is a muslim.” “Obama supports killing babies.” “I’m never visiting this site again because you’re voting for a democrat.” THIS IS WHAT AMERICA HAS TURNED INTO. When and how will this stop?

How could he be such a hypocrite and write the speech then?
He could resign or ask someone else to do it.
The speechwriters are [naughty word deleted] to their jobs and salaries - it’s beyond belief !!
