‘Going Rogue’: Sarah Palin’s 400-page book due Nov. 17
Former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s memoirs will have a huge initial printing of 1.5 million copies - the same amount as late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s.

Former vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin has finished her much awaited memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” The book, which is due out on Nov. 17, has many wondering if Ms. Palin, a favorite among possible Republican candidates, is gearing up for a presidential bid in 2012.
The book may certainly help. Palin’s publisher, Harper, moved up the release date and ordered a huge initial printing of 1.5 million copies – the same amount as the late Sen. Ted Kennedy’s memoir.
“Going Rogue,” Palin’s first book, was completed only four months after the deal was announced. It is expected to weigh in at 400 pages.
Since resigning as governor of Alaska, Palin reportedly hunkered down for weeks in San Diego to write the book, working closely with ghostwriter Lynn Vincent. Ms. Vincent has a successful track record: Her collaboration with an art dealer who befriended a homeless person, “Same Kind of Different as Me,” has sold 560,000 copies, spent 75 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list, and been considered for a Hollywood movie, reports the San Diego Union Tribune.
Neither Vincent nor Harper would disclose the contents of the book. But Harper editor Jonathan Burnham said it contained “fascinating details,” according to the Associated Press.
CNN points out the that book’s title refers to the criticism lodged by aides to her running mate Sen. John McCain as the 2008 campaign drew to a close.
After Palin strayed from the campaign playbook several times in October 2008, one McCain adviser griped to CNN that the vice presidential nominee was “going rogue.” Another called her a “diva.”
The public is likely to seize upon the book. Following her controversial and much-watched vice-presidential bid in 2008, Palin has continued to make headlines. Palin has a wide fan base on Twitter and Facebook, with about 900,000 followers, according to the AP. A fan recently paid $63,500 in an online auction to have dinner with her.
The former governor of Alaska returned to the limelight this month, giving a talk in Hong Kong, the Christian Science Monitor noted. Observers say the talk may have been designed to burnish her foreign policy credentials and put her back in the public eye.
Despite garnering attention through her talk and her book, Palin, the AP points out, “operates from behind a veil.”
<< ‘Kill Obama’ Facebook poll: latest sign of healthcare anger? | MainHer spokeswoman won’t even say what state she’s in. The Washington Post reported that Palin spent a month in California working on her book but has since left. Spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton declined to comment.

The difference between the Palin and Kennedy book is that the Palin book will contain truth.
The Kennedy book will contain propaganda. Please follow the accompanying ULR and then ask yourself if this person was any where near the caliber of American as Sarah.
Thank you and may God bless you and yours!

What a dumb name for a memoir. It must have taken the Palin ghost-writing braintrust all of 5 minutes to vote on that one.
100 years from now - IF - Palin makes the history archives, she’ll have the most ridicules title among all political memoirs.
I pity any book critic who has to take this one. That’s pretty much a guaranteed ticket on to Sarah Palin’s Enemy List.

the fact of the matter is that the republican regime pillaged the country’s coffers to the point that they din’t want to win power in the last race. this is obvious by their choice of mcain as president and then the joke of palin being his running mate. mcain is hated for selling out and condoning the bushies torture program…enough said for now

The bias of the Christian Science Monitor continues to amazed and confound me. As a devout Christian Scientist I summarily object to the Monitor’s ongoing subtle attacks against anyone who is not in tune with the paper’s particular political persuasion. With this in mind, I believe that since the Monitor fails to uphold the dignity and is not representative of the Christian Science faith, it is essential that the publication divorce itself entirely from the church and particularly cease the use of the words Christian Science in its title. The paper is an affront to the religion and many of its members because it has become a party to a specific political agenda as shown by its continuing vilification of groups and individuals with whom it disagrees.

400 pages! It must contain 300 pages of pictures. I doubt she has read this book either, if she has it was the first one she ever read.

This book could be a regurgitated, high school paper and the loyal Palin followers would still praise it. That’s how badly we need more female politicians. Let’s get some of these competent, female CEO types to run for office, so Americans can stop drinking the kook aid of this first female VP candidate. Wake up. She was a ploy to capture the female vote, and it largely worked. Many of her other followers are those who pull for a political party the way one pulls for a football team with a series of bad seasons. It simply doesn’t matter how empty and naive her espoused views are.
If this contains a single intelligent phrase, it is most likely the work of the actual writer in charge of translating Sarah’s catch-phrase filled babbling into coherent English.

It is amazing that anyone is actually interested in hearing what this ignorant snowbilly has to say. She was mayor of a tiny town in Alaksa, then governor for 2 years of a state with the population of Brooklyn, NY. She has proven herself to be absolutely uninformed about any topic of interest to any citizen of the modern world; oh, right…she was good at using technology to slaughter animals from the air. She also mastered the fascist technique of repeating lies about political opponents until they were belived, and demonizing them with slanderous names. She needs to disappear from the view of compassionate, rational people. Maybe she could open a caribou burger stand in Wasilla.

What possibly could this book be aside from complaints about how the media portrays this woman? I have heard very little from her that was not a complaint about how things are in hollywood or with the liberal media, of course fox news is an exception, as long as you say the right lies they are okay. This woman never brought anything to the table aside from saying business as usual was not the way of her new world. At least under the current admin people are proposing changes, critical ones, allowing for the public to weigh in and shows the upright ability to change course based upon sentiment and rapid retrospection. Can you imagine the grace that would have been saved if, for example, the Bush administration conceited that no clear evidence of WMD were found following inspection when they knew this to be the case? Conservatives only complain about actions but do nothing to have an intelligent conversation about what a ‘better’ option would be, just that the ones presented are liberal whitewash…Palin can only follow this ridiculous lead into the abyss. Who can POSSIBLY take this person serious, regardless of her background, gender or otherwise. Has she brought anything tangible to the people of the US or elsewhere? What has she actually done for the state of Alaska? Secured some highway funds in the backpocket of Uncle Ted? Sadly, many of you will revel i the magic of this incredibly important doctrine du Palin set to press. Interpret as you do the bible, exactly how you like so that it suits your personal agenda…

I’m surprised it wasn’t spelled “Goin’ Rogue.” But here’s the real question: we know Palin didn’t write it. Did she even bother to read it?
18. Chris Casa | 09.29.09
We’re reacting here merely to a publication date announcement. No actual book to review yet but after we do read it we’ll be debating who really wrote it, why and what’s it all mean, no matter what’s in it. I hope it’s amusing as she’s shown she can be.

This woman is a loser and I am sorry but that does not say much for those that follow her and look to purchase this book. Oh and to the OP above who said you will get truth out of Palin’s book. Yea if you consider truth whatever she spoon feeds you.
Come on that was one of the most unintelligent remarks I have seen in a while.

The only way to understand Sarah Palin is to think: Political satire - not to be taken seriously. It all falls into place this way. Otherwise you are left trying to understand how a limited intelligence, politically confused, make-up-reality-to-fit-my-needs dope could have this much exposure on the national stage.

Why would she name the book based on a label given to her by her OWN campaign staff? It’s not as if it was from her critics and foes - it was from “her side”!
If this is any indication of the content, sounds as if she’s going to be bashing McCain and the GOP establishment as much as the Lettermans of the world.
Oh - that’s right! She needs the money. Backstabbing = more money. (Look at some of the literary masterpieces coming out of Bush’s inner circle.)

The sad part of the story is, that there are a lot of people out there that will take the book literally and hold it up like a bible.
How can anyone take a person serious, that abandons her job in mid term. How are the people of the great state of Alaska feel that the person they voted for left them hanging high and dry. If money was the issue, than it is even more despicable what she did. She just proved to have her own interest before the interest of the office she held. Why would then anyone in their right mind even consider her for a higher office. Oh - sorry, I don’t want to ruin her ability to make even more money for the possible first president of the USA to quit just because the income will be so much higher.
Her intellect is lower than most world leaders and she would make Bush look like a genius. Why are we even taking her serious. Just because a few misguided people in our country are rooting for her. Just because a minority of the people in the US thinks she is good does not mean that she is all that. We have to get to a reality check in the US on what is good and what is plain stupid. And Sarah Palin (quitting when it gets tough and uncomfortable) is not what the US needs. She will quit again when it gets tough!
32. Roland Olsen | 09.29.09

Are you talking about Palin or Obama, who basically abandoned his 6-year senate term after one year in office to begin running for the presidency?

That anyone, at last in theory, may step forward and endeavor to lead in politics is a cherished and wonderful American tradition. In this age of ever-lower standards, however, I find Palin’s peculiar odyssey depressing to behold. In my view, her obvious lack of wisdom, her blithe dismissal of reflection and compromise, her penchant for divisiveness (dubbing supporters “real Americans” versus all the rest), the distressing reports of disarray in her personal life, her hopelessly fractured syntax, her abrupt decision to abandon the Alaska statehouse, and her disturbing tendency to cite half-truths and un-truths in her attacks, make her wholly unfit for adulation, let alone high office. And how sad that the once grand GOP has embraced her empty charade.

The difference between the Palin and Kennedy book, I would say, is that the Kennedy book will be on the library shelf in five years, and the Palin book won’t even be remembered.
Gross mistake in the wording of the article, as if the writer was slightly intoxicated with the Rogue PR: it says: “Observers say the talk may have been designed to burnish her foreign policy credentials and put her back in the public eye.” Burnishing implies there is a something that can be burnished. Palin has no foreign policy credentials that can be burnished - apart from that proximity to Russia thing…

If I were Obama I’d be smiling from ear to ear, praying that Sarah’s fanatical followers propel her through the Republican party machinery and into a 2012 candidacy. Palin 2012 candidacy = Obama second term. She has a fanatical, tiny base. Ten times the number of her fans would never vote for her for governor again, much less President.

Roland,
the difference is that President Obama did not leave to retire or to follow a better income, but to take an even higher office. Shara Palin just abandon her job from one day to the other. This little difference is what distinguishes quitters from winners.
I can’t consider some quitter to be the President of the USA. For her it is only about her image and not about the people of the state or country she represents. Sometimes I get the feeling she is still is running for Beauty Queen just that she mistakes politics for a beauty pageant.

Alaska was a pretty corrupt system until Palin stepped in. Her reforms took on entrenched politicians (inc. Republicans), a mafioso-style union boss, and Big Oil.
Wouldn’t it have been nice if Obama had been principled and brave enough to confront the corrupt Chicago Democratic Machine? Or shady political operators like Tony Rezko? Racist preachers? Instead of doing business with every last one of them?
IMO people could end up voting for the Gipper-in-Heels in droves- they’ll surely being looking for some such antidote to the Bolshevik con-artist who’s taking a wrecking-ball to this society now.
Small wonder then that far-left moonbats -along with Team Obama’s David Plouffe internet-control squad- are out to destroy her. The fact that she’s been highly successful in life while rejecting liberal feminism explains the extra dose of venom in the attacks-
Go get em ‘Cuda- you’re one tough lady… and there’s a lot of us behind you.

The conservatives normally pick good experienced leaders and this celebrity Palin has obtained, in my eyes, puts all of these bible belt republicans following Palin in the same basket of trivia as the 13 year old girls who follow Britney Spears.
It makes a mockery of our country and shows just how stupid some of us republicans can be.

There is a bit of a timeline problem with the Palin book title. Shouldn’t it be “Still Going Rogue”. I suppose that “Gone Rogue” could be a future prequel. In any case, the entire concept is an exercise in absurdity that defines ignorance by choice from sea to shining sea. After all, nothing matters but the bottom line.

I dont think we will see Sarah running for any political office. She shines when she has an adoring audience. She say nothing but reaps adulation from her “folksy” inflections and pandering flatery to her audience. She showed her true intent in Asia when she demanded “no press” be present. Fame & fortune are her new “goals”. The easy way. Entertainment where you can say and do anything you want and never be held accountable again !!

First of all, like many best sellers, one must have some understanding of
how books do become best sellers.
Often, books by or about politicians, whom have had some degree of impact
on the political landscape, whether that impact be substantive or
just perceived/passing, are purchased by every municipal library system in
America, who order at least one copy of a book deemed “hot” at the time (note: in 1980, many libraries and stores ordered a copy of Richard Larsen’s
THE DELIBERATE STRANGER about Ted Bundy; which was made into a tv movie with Mark Harmon 6 years after its initial release. Today, one has to special order the book, particularly if they desire the original cover).
The question is, what does Palin have to add to the national debate or
disourse. Like many demagogues before her, she offers simple answers to
complex issues; appeals to prejudices and fears. Like Castro, Hitler, Lenin,
Khomeini before her, she reduces complex matters to buzzwords and slogans;
creating enemies and scapegoats i.e. “the media” The book title relates
to how her handlers actually wanted her to face the media and answer
questions and how she circumvented the campaign to speak to “friendly”
media i.e. Beck, Hannity; those who would fawn over her and not ask her
anything meaningful beyond her favorite buzzwords-socialism, Obama pals
with terrorists, “real America,” tax cuts, etc.
While in and of herself she is a national and global laughingstock, never
underestimate the power of an ignorant yet vocal minority or determined
personality. In 1932, Adolf Hitler only gathered approximately 37% of
the vote in the election for President and the Nazi Party only had
33& of the vote for the Reichstag. Yet, the Nazi Party was the
largest single party and Hitler was able to force an appointment as
Chancellor.
In 1952, a young Cuban attorney from a wealthy landowning family attempted
to overthrow the government of Fulgencio Batista. Fidel Castro was
jailed but relased and Batista dismissed him as a little rich boy
playing revolutionary. 6 plus years later, Castro forced Batista out
and became dictator of Cuba.
If Palin was not trying to assert herself as a force in the current policy
discourse, most would dismiss her. Part of the problem is the Democrats
gave credence to her by removing language that she alleged contained
“death panels” but was a falsehood and the President waited too long
to issue a forceful response. By doing so, she gained traction and
was able to assert herself as a force in current politics. If she was
just writing a column for the quack and hack publications-NR, Washington
Times, American Spectator or NY Daily News, no one would pay much mind.
The fact that she is issuing lies and distortions about important issues
and is able to have some type of impact is scary.

The joke is on Sarah Palin–the definition of Rogue is deceitful, conniving, unprincipled, dishonest and unreliable person, scoundrel or rascal; liar or cheater. Yep, that sounds like the ghoster writer pulled the wool over Palin’s expensive glasses! Sad part is that Palin will try to convince people that there is a positive side to the meaning of this word–and rather than looking the word up in the dictionary, her blind followers will believe her……Dad–but Palin is probably laughing all the way to the bank. Ask any Alaskan, she was the worst Governor we have ever had–her popularity in polls is below 20% and the elected officials are still trying to undo all the damage she has done with her poor decisions. All talk–no intelligence–that is how we will remember this quitter. Too bad Alaska can’t get the proceeds from the book because of all the negative publicity this loser brought to our State. We are not the trailer trash or hillbillies like Palin and her dysfunctional family. The next book will probably be written by Bristol–the Queen of Abstinence. Let’s see if Palin puts her money where mouth is — and donates all the book money to charity. Palin is the Queen of Greed.
56. MColins | 10.01.09
Any one who is even mildly engaged in current events knows that since the election Democrats have carried out a coordinated and systematic attack on Gov Palin designed to destroy her as an option for any national leadership position. To that end there have been numerous groundless lawsuits filed against her by Democratic proxies in Alaska, each one in turn dismissed or defeated. While not a single charge was true, the cost of defending herself against these attacks ultimately accomplished their objective which was to make it impossible for her to govern her state particularly while having to deal with mounting legal bills topping $500,000. Realizing that Democrats will never rest and that this strategy was coming straight from the DNC, Palin stepped down from her governorship so her state could have what it deserved, which is a chief executive who could remain focused on the issues important to Alaskans. I would call this a grave miscalculation on the Lefts part as she is now free to build a national reputation free of the internecine plottings in Alaska, and so far she has improved her standing nationally.
Jibbering idiots who ironically repeat talking points about her supposed lack of intellect are only talking to themselves, and are apparently too dim to be able to distinguish between political gamesmanship and reality. Had this woman been a democrat, even with her prolife position the story would be very different as she would be hailed as the epitome of what feminism saw as the true role of women in America today.

FOX news must love Palin–not very intelligent so is willing to babble whatever verbage that Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh or Gretta say. Listen to their programs, and the next day Palin spouts off their comments like they are her original thoughts. The commentators get mucho bucks and listeners/higher ratings for their controversial thoughts and Palin is their puppet. Palin promised voters in Alaska many things and failed miserably. She decided to quit rather than stop the media circus. Forget what she says about doing what is best for Alaska or doing this for the good of the Country. This greedy diva loves being in the limelight and hired many speech writers and publicity agents who work full time to keep her name in the news. Money is the only thing that she is interested in and her family means nothing to her other than being props to get her more attention and money. Maybe with the book deal she can pay back the State of Alaska and the Republican Party for the $150,000 worth of clothes that were never returned or donated (as they said they would be.) Who cares how many points Palin made in her high school basketball games? I bet she doesn’t tell the real reason why the other players called her a ball hog and the real reason for the name Sarah Barracuda. It helps to be a point guard when your dad is the pe teacher.

The claim that Obama’s personal stormtroopers were carrying out a personal
vendetta against Palin appear to have no credible basis. I did some
searching and the only place that the claim is references is on blogs and
sites that support Palin or the party.
The only person with any DNC connection would be Linda Kellen Biegel, the
blogger who calls herself Celtic Diva, who was asked to be the state blogger
for the DNC Convention last year. Outside of that, she has no ongoing
relationship to the national party and no proof has surfaced that
establish she received funds on a regular basis from either the state
Democratic Party or the DNC.
Furthermore, the claim of $500,000 in legal bills relates to her decision
to hire a private attorney, Thomas Van Flein, rather than let ethics
charges go through the state attorneys and the Personnel Board; communications with private attorneys are reportedly not subject to
state disclosure laws or regulations. Can Vickie address this issue as
she is an Alaskan who is more familiar with the process there?
Also, John Coale, Mr. Greta Van Susteren and a lawyer who helped her set up
a legal defense fund said in a Newsweek article dated July 18, 2009 that
the fund was on its way towards covering $500,000 plus another $100,000 in bills incurred subsequently.
As far as improving her national prospects, her negatives are 2/3, according
to a Wall Street Journal Poll in late July.
An August poll by Marist College (Bill O’Reilly’s alma mater) show Obama
defeating her 56% to 33% in a hypothetical matchup in 2012.
She does not poll well with independents, urbanites (whom she implied are
not part of the “Real America”), young voters, women, minorities or
voters with a college education. Young voters voted for Obama 66% to
33% and independents suppported the President 52% to 44%.
By all means, if her book is a best seller, great. But, if anyone expects
this woman who is obviously not intellectually curious, cannot address
the most basic of questions about U.S history or what she reads and
cannot articulate intelligently on any topic other than throwing out
buzzwords and hot buttons to be a serious contender for the highest office
in the nation if not the world, they are obviously not in tune with
anything resembling reality.

Some of you wannabes only wish you could be ‘all that.’ Instead, you sit…feed your face with criticism … grow old without any legacy to speak about other than the fact you trolled the net to vent on Pretty Sarah. Sounds like Cinderella’s stepmother and sisters. Ha! This is great for her publicity. Also, she is not having problems with speaking contracts…she’s simply choosy.
