This article is referring to more than “passive construction design.” It is speaking of a distinct system of construction specifically called “Passive House.” Thousands of buildings in Europe have been constructed to this particular (and premier)standard of energy consumption, and it has gained a foothold in the US. This in no way seeks to invalidate the point that passive construction design has been applied throughout history, nor to ignore or belittle the advances of our lifetimes. To the contrary, it has built on that knowledge. While “doing some research,” please consider passivehouse.com, passivehouse.us, and my own article at http://www.passivehouse.us/passiveHouse/Articles_files/HEM_Climate_kernagis.pdf

Hiya,
Kinda surprised to read that the ‘first passive house was built in Germany in 1990.” This is so inaccurate. Passive construction design has been part of many cultures throughout history and subject to much effort throughout the 20th Century. Do some research.
Cheers.
