Palin: Obama “palling around with terrorists”

By Jimmy Orr | 10.05.08

It’s “time to take the gloves off,” Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin said on Saturday before launching an attack that sought to link Barack Obama to a violent, 1960s-era radical group.

No ramp-up time was needed for Palin, fresh off last Thursday night’s debate. She hit the ground in Colorado and California, ’spittin’ fire’ as the folksy governor might say.

“Our opponent … is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country,” she said, referring to a co-founder of the 1960s-era Weather Underground, an organization the FBI labeled as a domestic terrorist group.

The co-founder, Bill Ayers, now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, served on a board with Obama and held a fundraiser for him in 1995. Obama has condemned the actions of Ayers, and many media organizations have discounted any ongoing relationship between the two.

New York Times

In discussing Obama and Ayers, Palin cited the newspaper that the McCain-Palin campaign regards as a foe.

“I get to bring this up not to pick a fight, but it was there in the New York Times, so we are gonna talk about it,” she said. “Turns out one of Barack’s earliest supporters is a man who, according to the New York Times, and they are hardly ever wrong, was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that quote launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and US Capitol. Wow. These are the same guys who think patriotism is paying higher taxes.”

Swift-boat

In an email to reporters, Obama spokesman Hari Sevugan condemned Palin’s remarks and included a listing of media outlets that dispute the charge of any meaningful relationship between the two men.

“Governor Palin’s comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign’s statement this morning that they would be launching Swiftboat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation’s economic ills. In fact, the very newspaper story Governor Palin cited in hurling her shameless attack made clear that Senator Obama is not close to Bill Ayers, much less ‘pals,’ and that he has strongly condemned the despicable acts Ayers committed 40 years ago, when Obama was eight.”

Aggressive

Sevugan was calling attention to a statement McCain strategist Greg Strimple made on Saturday as reported by the Associated Press.

“We are looking for a very aggressive last 30 days,” Strimple said. “We are looking forward to turning a page on this financial crisis and getting back to discussing Mr. Obama’s aggressively liberal record and how he will be too risky for Americans.”

Stop the bleeding

The tougher approach is part of the McCain campaign’s strategy to stabilize poll numbers, which have dropped substantially in the last two weeks. With voters more critical of Republicans for the nation’s financial woes and several shaky performances by Palin in the media interviews, the McCain campaign has some ground to cover.

But after a better than expected performance by Palin in Thursday’s debate (a CNN poll found that 84 percent of Americans thought Palin exceeded expectations), the vice presidential nominee followed the campaign’s playbook.

“This is not a man who sees America as you see it and how I see America,” she said. “We see America as the greatest force for good in this world. If we can be that beacon of light and hope for others who seek freedom and democracy and can live in a country that would allow intolerance in the equal rights that again our military men and women fight for and die for for all of us.”

Erratic

Not wanting to let the McCain campaign change the conversation, Team Obama released a new television ad calling attention to the McCain strategy.

“No wonder his campaign’s announced a plan to turn a page on the financial crisis, distract with dishonest, dishonorable assaults against Barack Obama,” the ad says. “Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy and we can’t afford another president who’s this out of touch.”

The :30 spot calls McCain “erratic in crisis” and “out of touch on the economy.”  Familiar scenes are peppered throughout the spot including a shot of McCain with President George H.W. Bush on a golf cart and a smiling McCain with the current President in the Rose Garden.

McCain and Palin ticket should be known as hypocrites. Keating five, troopergate, witch doctors, distortion, lies, etc. It is a ticket of George Bush scare tactics. It isn’t going to work this time. For that matter, it will do more harm than good. The American public realizes that McCain is trying to avoid the issues by distorting the truth and slandering Obama’s character. (Bush tactics). If that is the best McCain and Palin can do they can’t lead this country . Middle Class needs someone, like Obama, to represent them instead of the rich, privileged and powerful which the Republican’s represent. I guess the Republican’s do not realize the public learned their lesson from Bush scare tactics that got us in a war and killed thousands and destroyed our economy.

Does the country really want a President who thinks the only way to win is to use smear tactics. If someone with this type of character is President, he will use the same tactics to convince America of a policy he is trying to promote (Bush Tactics).

My only surprise is why Obama is not using Keating five in the campaign. It is factual and there is tons of evidence of McCain’s involvement and guilt. Maybe he is saving it for debate night! Wouldn’t that be a zinger.

Sarah Palin embarrisingly shows the world she dosen’t understand the POINT of what she reads. The article all too clearly showed that Obama and Ayers are NOT pals. In fact the article states Obama has expressed NOTHING but disgust at the acts Ayers committed when he was 8 years old, and Sarah was 5. It is very scary to me to think of a woman who not only can’t name one supreme court decision she disagrees with, but can’t accurately understand the point of an article, what will she not understand in correspondense she receives as VP? As an aside isn’t this the same Main Street Media she is now citing as almost never wrong, sorry you don’t have it both ways.

Dog gonit, she’s scary. You betcha. Very.

Who cares? I hope Obama wins so I don’t have to see Hillary run in four years, besides I want to see the Rich(actors, musicians, talk show hosts)pay more taxes!! Got that Barbra Streisand,Bruce Sprinsteen, and Opera Winfrey!?! Pay up!! Thousands of welfare recipients are counting on you!

Amidst the noise, American is about to make a historical decision that may change its way of life.

Numerous forces are at work, pressuring American voters into a decision during a time of extreme stress.

This is not a time for knee-jerk or emotional reactions. Cool heads should prevail.

If there is nothing to it, then why is Chicago Mayor Daly hiding the minutes and other documents relating to The Annenberg Challenge, Where Obama served as Chairman at Ayers’ request. Does the Public’s Right to Know not include this information?

Mrs. Palin is now mouthing the dirtiest dirt. I almost feel sorry for this talking head, but the issues are so serious to our country that this behavior is just criminal and doesn’t serve our democratic process. Usually side groups do this type of thing, but the McCain campaign is using their own “Palin” to do this. Well-informed, intelligent people will not give this any credence, but a small but significant group of people who want to believe these things will.

This example is a bald-faced lie and Mrs. Palin has a potty mouth and mean girl spirit. This is the behavior of the playyard of bullies and the easily influenced. I thought Mrs. Palin had some type of moral compass being Christian, but now I know that she is just one of the same. The same McCain/Rove lying and dirty tricks machine. Potty-mouthed Palin.

9. Bill | 10.05.08

I think that the MCCain Campaign has a valid point.
Why not scrutinze the senators(obamas) background?
If he wants to be President, don’t you think the American people need to see the whole story?
The media certainly has gone after MCCain/Palin with no relent, why not equal time?
Or does the Obama campaign have something to hide?

10. John | 10.05.08

I believe that the McCain campaign is desperate and lowering themselves to this level,in the hopes that the American people will be swayed with this nonsense. It is yet another example of a lie by the McCain campaign. A campaign whose manager says that elections are not about the issues will stoop to anything. Fortunately the American people are not so dumb or trashy to fall for this nonsense, and from Sarah Palin no less. The only reason that she did not run crying out of the debate is because Joe Biden is a real gentleman. She showed her ignorance there and again with this lie. John McCain talks about honor ,as if he ever had any. As a former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces I’ve known some REAL American heroes,John McCain is not one.

11. trok | 10.05.08

Look who’s talking terrorist? Isn’t it First Dude who belonged to a group advocating Alaska seceding from America & declaring Alaska first? And he was older than eight when he belonged.

12. Michael Britton | 10.05.08

I find it interesting that a campaign filled with inconsistencies in judgment is saying that Obama has exercised poor judgment. I’m sorry, but to cast Sarah Palin as a woman who has exercised perfect judgment when she obviously made the poor choice to not inform her daughter of the consequences of unprotected pre-marital sex, then to cast that as a “blessing” (when most evangelical Christians view sex outside of marriage as a sin) is hypocritical.

I, like many other voters, I think, are tired of the negative, scathing, falsehood-laden attack ads of McCain and want candidates who focus on the issues, which the McCain/Palin ticket has steadfastly refused to do. Maybe if they would tell us some details of how they plan on fixing the country’s problems their poll numbers would go up. But to link Obama with William Ayers, who perpetrated his “terrorist” acts when Obama himself was a child, is ridiculous. I hope this tactic forces the poll numbers down even further.

13. bruce Becker | 10.05.08

Liar Palin is about to lose her cases in Alaska, for hiding her Alaska state business emails in her Yahoo account.

I dont understand why Christian Science Monitor feels obliged to publish her slander and scurrilous lies.

1. “Pals around with”. Is there any evidence of such behavior? NONE. ZERO.

2. Terrorists. Plural? I thought her false allegation was only about Dr Ayers. Who else? She tries to extend this lie to a vague scary other terrorists, without any evidence at all.
Sen Obama was 8 years old when Dr Ayers was an activist. Nowadays, Dr Ayers is an educator in Chicago, who recently worked with Mayor Daley to bring $49 million in grants to Chicago. And Obama does not ‘pal’ around with old Dr Ayers.

The editors of this website have an obligation to make it clear that these are lies, by Republican desperadoes, who are now so far behind in polling that they have only the hope of false allegations.

14. ralph e gray | 10.05.08

how could anyone in their right mind support or vote for obama ?

15. Edwin | 10.05.08

The association is as bad as calling President Roosevelt as Stalinist, because he worked with Stalin to defeat Hitler.

Republicans are losing, because right wing religious, radio, and political wackos in control of their party are corrupting Republican values in favor of swiftboat politics. Contrast Palin’s attack with Obama criticizing McCain’s health care proposal. Instead of slinging mud, Obama is the change he preaches.

People love and are standing up for Obama, because they see what a fine example he sets in how Americans should discuss their differences. Palin’s conduct is unbecoming someone who could be President if McCain’s health fails. The Republican establishment must be routed so that the better people in the GOP can rise up.

16. Trueblue | 10.05.08

“Sarah Swiftboater” has been unleashed by the McCain campaign to spew whatever vile garbage she wants. Not able to use the race card, she is fabricating a terrorist card. McCain used to have a reputation for integrity but not any more. He is letting his VP partner pander to the lowest of the low and it reflects directly on his integrity and judgement.

17. ginger | 10.05.08

Hey Good to know that Palin has finally learned the name of a newspaper! Now if we could only get her to read one! And UNDERSTAND it!

18. Lawrence | 10.05.08

Ms. Palin offers no substance, no wisdom, no experience and no intellectually compelling reason to elevate her from lipstick wearing pit bull to vice president. McCain knuckled under to the forced pregnancy lobby in choosing her, darn it.

Left with nothing to offer, Palin now resorts to slinging mud. This should be viewed as a concession that she has nothing of substance to offer, for if she did, she would tout that, you betcha.

19. Ziad D. | 10.05.08

Sad its sad how cheap politics have become in America. Sarah Palin looks more like a stripper than a governor.

20. C. Richmond | 10.05.08

The McCain campaign plans to get tougher? What? Are they going to have Palin wink at us more? You Betcha!!

21. jackie | 10.05.08

She is SO unprofessional!

22. Matt | 10.05.08

Really don’t care for this sort of smear. Admit I’m a bit biased, but this stuff seems to come more often from the right than the left. Ayers is only one person, so the “terrorists” claim is clearly a lie. The allegations are for something that happened 40 years ago. Wasn’t it Palin herself who criticized Biden for looking backwards for looking a mere 0 to 8 years back? Heck, if we assume people can’t change over time, then Palin herself has a pro-choice running mate (McCain claimed to be pro-choice in the 2000 election).

Moreover, if you look at Ayers recent activities, he’s been involved in education and community service programs. Heck, Obama met him on the board of directors of an anti-poverty philanthropic organization. Not exactly an association to condemn Ayers for.

23. Jeff | 10.05.08

McCain has a lot of nerve. He sent that idiot Palin out there to talk about a New York Times article as if this is the first time she’s read the Times or heard of Ayers. Ayers is old news now, he doesn’t matter. This came up during the primaries and no one cared. McCain is clearly desperate and Americans are not going to buy this guilt by association, dishonorable attack. We have two wars on, and an economic crisis. This attack is clearly meant to distract people from the issues, and it will backfire. If McCain wants to play the game dirty, get ready to hear about Charles Keating early and often.

24. No nonsense | 10.05.08

It is not about Palin, it is about Obama who is not even qualified to be president. Voters should not expect Biden to perform for Obama. Have you ever told your boss how to do his job? Probably not!

25. Matt | 10.05.08

Obama & McCain are both corporate puppets of their own making.

“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” –Thomas Jefferson

26. J. Paul Kahler | 10.05.08

Apparently, the Obama campaign would have us believe that terrorist Bill Ayers is simply someone Obama met once or twice and that he never had any kind of relationship with the man; that he never heard an anti-american, white-hating statement by Jeremiah Wright in his 20 years of attending Trinity United Church of Christ; that his college education wasn’t paid for by Muslim extremists. One the other hand, we are to believe that John McCain and George Bush are one and the same? Give me a break!

27. James Huffer | 10.05.08

Do NOT be surprised at the timing of the next terrorist attack but Barrack Obama will have had absolutely nothing to do with it other than opposing the Bush mafia and the evangelical hypocrites. failing that they will try to complete the downing of his aircraft to finish the failed attempt of last month. Good soccer mom Cristian Ms. Palin has no trouble at all using fear and lies to try to save the republican party from being exposed as the criminal conspiracy they have been since the 1930’s. It isn’t rocket science to see the pattern of attacks on Americans and the association between the Bush and Bin Laden families. If it quacks and waddles it’s a DUCK morons.

28. Thomas W. Hestand | 10.05.08

How wrong she is and how wrong the Republican party is for allowning her to cite these totally eronieous statements. The Party has set her up to fail and fail she will. Her inexpericence is surpassed only by her belief that John McCain will be good for the Country. Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States of America and she will become just a fleeting memory , thanks in no small part to her and John Mccain’s attempt to change the subject. Its called re-directing, where if you change the subject and harp on it enough, then you can deflect the attention away from the ECONOMY and maybe enough people will forget about it and swallow your message about Barack being associated with a terorist at the age of (eight)?

29. Holden Caulfield | 10.05.08

Let me get this right: Sarah Palin wants to act indignant that anyone is “looking to the past”, but somehow we’re all supposed to believe that a guy who hasn’t had a connection to Barack Obama in 13 years and who was considered a terrorist when Obama was eight years old now makes Obama a terrorist.

If Sarah Palin were a prosecuting attorney and made that argument in a court of law, she’d be disbarred, right after she got laughed out of the courtroom.

30. Tripsy Daily | 10.05.08

Sarah Palin will use any tactic to try and scare the American voter. Consider the VP debate, when she invoked the quote ‘NEVER AGAIN’ in referring to financial institutions, bankers, and lenders in the U.S. Sarah Palin thoughtlessly stole the most famous quote related to the Holocaust, simply to score political points and to provoke the emotions of American citizens. Furthermore, Sarah’s “2nd Holocaust” rhetoric is nonsensical fear mongering. I beg to disagree with Sarah Palin and argue that Israel is not a luxury concentration camp where the Jews of the world are kept safe by the U.S. If Iran launches a nuclear strike against Israel it is NOT a 2nd holocaust, any strike on Israel, nuclear or otherwise is an ACT OF WAR. Israel is a sovereign nation (20% of its population made up of Arabs - who are equally at risk), capable of defending itself in the Middle East with out help of the US. McCain/Palin simply wish to use Israel to advance a White House policy seeking aggression against Iran. Sarah Palin is too ignorant for me to believe there is malice behind her antisemitism. What I do believe is that she lacks even the slightest bit of awareness and integrity that might otherwise safeguard against such inappropriate and dangerous rhetoric.

31. neohippie | 10.05.08

I agree let’s not let the candidates hide the truth, why is the McCain camp trying so hard to bury Palin’s Troopergate scandal, where she allegedly abused the power of the Office of the Governor, to fire her ex brother-in-law, shouldn’t abuse of power investigations take priority over a national elections, why should she be able to smile and wink her way out of what should be a criminal investigation.

32. Leo Lindquist | 10.05.08

Errors indeed. Why does the media not comment on the errors Biden, 30 yrs in DC and a supposed foreign affairs specialist, made in the debate?

33. ScientistEngineer | 10.05.08

Funny thing, our founding fathers were accused of being terrorist by the British.

McCain should be ashamed of his behavior; he definitely isn’t an officer and gentlemen and Palin is an illiterate hack.

Let’s rebuild America and become leaders in the World for honesty. We can be some much better.

34. No nonsense | 10.05.08

why would someone seek a religion outside America? Obama sees American values differently! This is what Palin was talking about.

35. pierre | 10.05.08

The campaign is turning sour. The conservatives ,the neo-cons and their supporters will not give power easily. They will play with the fears of the american voters : Obama supposed links with terrorist is a first step . prepare yourselves to terrorist attack alerts few days before the elections.

36. Wyoming | 10.05.08

Typical Palin-speak:
“If we can be that beacon of light and hope for others who seek freedom and democracy and can live in a country that would allow intolerance in the equal rights that again our military men and women fight for and die for for all of us.”

Anyone who speaks with (incomplete) sentences this complex is
1) not “ordinary folk”
2) someone out to deceive

An honest person speaks plainly.

The fact that so many think Palin is so wonderful frightens me for the future of this country, a country founded by folks who wanted a little honesty and clarity in their leaders.

37. Diane | 10.05.08

If Palin/McCain wants to re-explore Ayers (and let’ not forget Obama was 8 yrs old can we re-explore the Keating 5 issue?
McCain was not 8 yrs old- he was in the Senate and accused of corruption. The Senate Ethics Committee reduced the charge to “Poor judgement” But this whole incident directly shows a window on McCain’s character.
He DID pal around Keating who went to prison for what he did. He was a close personal friend of Keating. Keating contributed to McCain’s campaign’s, McCain’s wife and father-in-law invested in a Keating shopping center, McCain used Keating’s jet- free of charge and used Keating’s Bahama’s resort home for free. it wasn’t until keating was publicly in trouble and the proverbial stuff was hitting the fan that McCain paid him back for those vacation stays.
Does McCain regret what he did? He has publicly said so.
But did we learn all the facts? Is there something more to learn?
Isn’t this what Palin and Mcain are trying to do with Obama? Suggesting that there’s more to learn when there isn’t?

38. WCFarmboy | 10.05.08

Well it’s starting. Palin is breaking out the heavy lies. I am ex-military and once had great respect for the soldier and the man, Mr. McCain. Now I am amshamed of him. He has lost his integrity in the hunt for power. No longer does he stand as the Republican epitomy of what is good in Conservative philosophy. He has joined the ranks of the nasty, lying, greedy, power hungry jerks like Bush. That group has turned conservatism into “the C word”. Added to the disgraceful economic idiocy that has ruined our economy, they have just gift wrapped the White House for Mr. Obama.

39. Nick | 10.05.08

I see the Koolaid drinkers are here. Its not just Ayers, its Ayers, Rezco, Raines et al. Its about talking a talk but not walking a walk. Its about having a half brother who survives in a shanty town on a dollar a month and doing nothing while you live in a multi million dollar mansion. Its about snide comments made regarding the very backbone of America, those of faith and those who own guns. the USA cannnot afford Sen. Teleprompter to become President Present.

40. KB | 10.05.08

Palin is the worst pick for VP in history! Not only is she a national joke but she is a global joke. Could you imagine the disrespect we would receive as a nation putting that idiot a heartbeat away from the presidency? I seriously wonder if the McCain ticket could be worse the the Bush Administration. She is an absolute moron and the fact that McCain could even think about picking her is proof that he will do anything to win before he dies.

41. Terr | 10.05.08

McCain/Palin=Dumber and Dumbest. Like W., Like Chaney

42. David | 10.05.08

McCain the “Maverick” has voted with George Bush 9 out of every ten votes.

His attempt to change political fundraising only came after he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar as a member oF Charles Keating’s inner circle. What about all the vacations that McCain took on Keating’s tab?

Even McCain’s record as a “war hero” is distorted. His cooperation with the North Vietnamese propaganda machine has been ignored, and his disasterous record as a pilot (losing five jets) hardly makes him a hero.

Once again, Republican strategists are showing that the facts do not matter.

43. herb fellows | 10.05.08

Ok, let’s take her at her word.

The New York Times is hardly ever wrong. If you took a summary of statements from the NY Times regarding the candidates, McCain would be in jail and this twit would be back in Alaska shooting wolves from helicopters.
As far as her exceeding expectations, she would have accomplished that by just not dribbling while talking! The expectations were so low, it would have been impossible not to exceed them!
It’s really very sad. McCain was a man I respected, even if I didn’t agree with him. He thought that he had a chance to really become president, and all his morals went out the window. This is not the same man that ran in 2000, not by a long shot! Foisting the choice of Sarah Palin on the American electorate is tantamount to spitting in the face of America.

Barack Obama did not just “cross paths” with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayres- he served on boards with him and helped raise money for Ayres still radical causes.
Look for the recent pictures of Ayres trampling on the American Flag!
Barry has LOTS of radical and nefarious connections in his background- Tony Rezko, Rev. GD America Wright, Franklin Raines- and on and on.
Check out the website:

and watch Sean Hannity’s America at 9 p.m. tonight on the Fox News Channel- where he exposes ALL of these poor choices in pals.
And then there’s Barry’s own words disparaging our great Nation and his wife Michalle “America is a Downright Mean Country” who wrote a very scray racist college thesis.
The truth is out there - all you Obama-mania media types.

Same Old, Same Old.

Lets get to the heart of the problem, THE ECONOMY.

Now the secret is out. Our economy is based 1/8 on housing and that market is in deep trouble; construction way down, housing prices falling. Manufacturing has gone offshore. 80 percent of our military purchases are from offshore companies. The insurance industry is in disarray, AIG and others. Wall Street has essentially collapsed. The Investment Banks are all out of business, literally. The financial market was based on non-collateralized Derivatives. Wall Street can’t even describe what a Derivative is; let alone justify them.

Now the economy pins its hopes on Applebees, Auto Insurance, Supermarkets and their unsafe imported foods, the Big Box Stores, all of whom import nearly everything from China or some other unknown place, and a few home grown attempts to run a business in the US while facing foreign competition.

How’s that working for us?

Not to well. The underpinnings of our economy are simply not there.

For too many years the politicians, notably the Republicans, have run up debts that are the largest in the history of the world, by any measure. Then they lower taxes which results in even larger debts as we borrow to pay the shortfals in tax revenue. However they believe they have found a silver lining to the debt crisis; namely, INFLATION. Inflating the dollar means that we can pay off those foreign obligations with cheaper dollars. Neat trick, right? Wrong. You know why. Look at the cost of goods in this country. Go to Europe and see how little the dollar is worth.

Until we balance the productive areas of our economy to provide stability, so a decline in one sector will not topple the entire economy, we will be at serious risk for another GREAT DEPRESSION.

I am not talking about protectionism, rather, developing an economic plan and tax structure that will favor production, manufacturing and services performed and provided by US companies in the US.

Obama is also an Illuminati puppet as the following links indicate:

Also, the following market analysis by Denninger indicates that the Bush administration, which is already affiliated with the Illuminati, deliberately crashed the markets by pulling out $125 billion from the markets, to drive public opinion in favor of Obama:

It is time that we stick to the issues and not try to cover them up with the swift boat tactics used during the John Kerry campaign. I find these kind of smear tactics repulsive. I would not feel secure nor respect a president who would stoop to the personal smear being used by Palin.

52. Tom | 10.05.08

Pathetic. If this type of comment is “Taking the gloves off”, then the Obama can start getting his “change of address” ready. McCain ain’t going anywhere. Darn. You betcha.

Obama sought a religion outside America because he probably did not appreciate American values. This is what Palin is talking about!

54. R U Kidding | 10.05.08

What do people expect of Obama and his associations? He had to rise to political power through the sewer of Chicago politics. Of course, he had to associate with Chicago political thugs and their mob connections, although his directly buying his own home and property expansion through them may not have been a good idea.

He is unlikely to pay these people back or give them undue influence when president. Most politicians are lying, cheating scum. Why pick on Obama for being more of the same?

The real issue is that Obama is a far left social democrat ambitious to push a socialist agenda. Combine this with a Democrat congress and real retrogression into socialism is a virtual certainty. If people choose to put their very freedom in the hands of neosocialists, does it really matter that Obama is poltical scum?

What matters is that he is lying through his teeth about the fact that he is a product of the far left with expansionist ambitions in the direction of state socialism.

By the way, it is apalling that you can’t spell paling.

Sarah Palin is a joke of a nonimee. John McCain should be ashamed of himself for letting himself get so handled by the neocons to pick someone who is supremely unqualified for the position. What a farce he is making of one of the most respected offices in the world. What a joke. What a pandering joke.

56. Songbird McCain | 10.05.08

Desperation

57. couger | 10.05.08

This is so sad…..everyone here and across the USA just cannot see that both sides are lying through their teeth. The current financial crisis has been years in the making. Since the Democrats demanded lower qualifications (read subprime loans) for mortgages so everyone could “own a home” back in the mid 90’s. THAT’S where this mess got outta hand.

Listen to me!! Obama is NOT a Saviour. Neither is McCain. Everyone had BETTER look at your Representitives…that’s where REAL “change” comes from. Not the President.

58. Shaun | 10.05.08

Funny how the media is in the “bag” for Obama. No mention of his middle name Hussien. No mention he was raised a Muslim when he was younger.

No mention he admitted on ABC interview with George Stephenopolus “my Muslim faith” and then backtracks and says “my Christian faith”.

No mention he used and sold drugs in his youth. No mention radical race hating Nation of Islam endorses him.

No mention that he sat in Trinity Church for 20 YEARS while Rev. Wright spewed racially charged sermons week after week but Obama never heard him say anything bad.

If Obama wins our enemies will be dancing in the streets of Tehran, Damascus, Pyongong, and Caracas.

The man cannot speak without a teleprompter in front of him do a Youtube search for “Obama no teleprompter”. Watch as he literally struggles to make a coherent speech without it.

He is a man in an “empty suit” no substance and no experience. Sorry but working as a “community organizer” does’nt cut it for job experience over McCain’s military background and government service. Even Sarah Palin has more executive experience than the “community organizer” Obama.

By the way how come the press never brings up the issue of Obama was not in the Senate in 2002 for the Iraq war resolution. Yet he tells us I did not vote for the war? Duh…Obama you could not vote because you were not even in the Senate to VOTE.

Yet he spouts this over and over and like gullible sheep the majority of the Democrats in this country go along with it. You think times are tough now wait if Obama wins this is whats in store for you. Higher taxes guaranteed, large scale social programs that will bankrupt this country more, military cutbacks and retreats giving our enemies more strength to attack us here and abroad.

By the way all you Obama loving fanatics do a Goggle search for “AOL Straw Poll” click on the result “Political Machine”. Take the poll pick your candidate Obama or McCain(if your sane) and then enter the 6 random characters thats stops you from voting more than once per IP address.

You maybe in for a shock if this poll is accurate. Being that over 300,000 people vote on it each week it must be. Wonder why the liberal loving left media never mentions this poll ever.

59. Gary Peschell | 10.05.08

Governor Sarah Palin - and all Republicans should be careful about accusing others of”palling aroind with terrorists.”
After ll, their party leader George w. Bush welcomed to the White House in March of 2006 Gerry Adams, political voice of the I.R.A. (Irish Republican Army), one of the best- known terrorist organizations on the planet.
Then there is Representative Peter King, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security - and long-time supporter and aplologist for the I.R.A. - at least until September 11, 2001.

60. Doug Christian | 10.05.08

Yeah, Sarah Palin is a great Christian. She really represents our values. Humility, kindness, tolerance, love, forgiveness. Oh no wait, I forgot. Our values have become persecution, retaliation, bloodlust, and intolerance in the name of God. Jesus wept.

Obama is a calm, steady, brilliant man. His crime here is kindness. This guy Ayers taught at the same school Obama did and worked in Chicago politics at the same time Obama did. I guess he could have walked off his jobs screaming “terrorist” but that would be ridiculous. And besides, the guy has been acquitted. I wouldn’t want to be judged by the past of any of my colleagues because I try to have a cordial relationship with them.

Please please please elect the real Christian, Obama, and deliver us from evil.

61. chillingaz | 10.05.08

the author of this article made a mistake. The correct headline is “paling around with terrorists”

62. pgchambers | 10.05.08

To me this is a mistake. It didn’t work for Hillary, what makes them think it will make a difference now. People have already made up there minds about this, and bringing it up again makes McCain/Palin look desperate.

63. Rob | 10.05.08

If only the old McCain hadn’t disappeared…and if he had chosen a running mate with a brain, I’d still be on track to vote for him. But this new attitude of desperation and deception isn’t so much the old maverick, but more of what we have seen from the Republicans of late. McCain did battle with them for a long time, but he lost and caved in to the Rove/Cheney doctrine and selecting Palin as a running mate was merely a strategy to get the Bible-thumping, hillbilly vote. While Obama may ultimately result in higher taxes for a few of us, he at lease presents sane arguments that have some thought behind them. Palin is too wacky. This desperation-when-things-get-tough approach of hers would make our foreign relation even worse than GWB’s wildest dreams.

64. Richard Eich | 10.05.08

The lies continue. The defender of the Palin lies, Mr K #26, invents an unsubstantiated further lie, amplifying Palin’s lie. Now there is a mysterious benefactor, Muslim extremists, UN-NAMED, who provided Obama’s college tuition. I wonder what the definition is, of extremism among Muslims. Would that be, not being like Mr K, #26? You betcha!

In real life, in this moment, Palin is being sued by Republicans, in her home state, to force her to confess her use of Yahoo to avoid the freedom of information act, and to force her to confess that she used Yahoo to do state business so she would be able to avoid audits of all legal kinds. The general term for Palin’s crimes is CALUMNY. It means fraud for the purpose of avoiding legal procedure. See VP Cheney, who claims to have “LOST” the all-important documentation of the run-up to the Iraq war. See, Palin’s crimes include using a system with no backup. That’s what Cheney claims he did. She used that tactic intentionally, to avoid Constitutional authorities in her state.
Two crimes, by Palin on her behalf, to say nothing of preventing her employees from using the state system too.

67. MrUniteUs | 10.05.08

Say it ain’t so Sarah,
Now that the debate is over, Palin wants talk about the past instead of the present, or the future.

Well by golly let’s talk about Palin
palling around with Alaskan seperatist.

Here ia a video Palin praising the separatist organization.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI

Vice President of the Alaskan Independence Party
states Sarah Palin was a member. Her husband Todd Palin was a member for several years. Apparently Sarah Palin thinks so little of this country that she would pal around with separatist.

Palin is married to a man that was a registered member of a group to succeed from America until 2002. He is now registered as an Independent.

Todd Palin broke the law by not showing up to answer questions about the trooper investigation.

There is no closer relation than having an un-American law breaking husband.

Obama was on a board with Ayers for worthy causes. Ayers is very respected for his work in education.

I do not condone the bombings, but I do respect people that protested a stupid war that killed about 50,000 American military and inflicted terrible wounds on hundreds of thousand military. In addition the US kill and wound thousands of innocent civilians.

McCain has tried very hard to stop the trooper investigation. They did not win the first court hearing. Now they have filed an emergency case with the Supreme Court.

Sounds like McCain is very afraid of the results.

70. Jim | 10.05.08

You are known by the company you keep -

A $15 trillion dollar (yes “Trillion”) per year economy will look after itself - the actual bailout of $350 billion represent 1/45th of our annual GNP - there have always been housing cycles; it is not the economy but the perception of the economy; democrats want to frighten the uneducated or unawares and fail to acknowledge this collapse is failed social engineering as much as failed montetary oversight.

So the real question for the election is who can you trust:

Obama - not just an acquaintance of but a friend of Mr. Ayers, a known terrorist and admitted communist; not just a friend of but a 20 year parishioner of Reverend Wright, who hates America; a man who married a woman who is only proud of American now that her husband is about to get his; who is being supported by women who use the term “privacy” to justify their position on taking the lives of innocents as opposed to using personal restraint (kill a kid but save a felon); advised by the thieves from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae; backed by a VP candidate who expoused Obama’s inexperience and lack of qualifications - we cannot trust Mr. Barack to lead or to defend America.
McCain - American hero of a line of American heroes; tells you what he believes even if you disagree with him; married to a strong American woman with executive experience; has a VP candidate who is also an executive and who has actually balanced budgets and understands the circle of life (all our early leaders were hunters who knows the cost of feeding a family); Senator McCain knows enough to hate war but also the cost of losing a war. I do not agree with all of McCain’s positions but would trust him not to sell America down the tubes.
Just ask yourself who you want to be in a foxhole with? McCain this year is the only answer.

71. Elwood Greene | 10.05.08

Ms. Palin is like a little yappy dog that people let drag them around the cul-de-sacs of quiet neighborhoods, in a passive-aggressive attempt to show their neighbors that they aren’t entitled to honest civility when passing on the sidewalks.

I emphasize little and yappy in the same sense as the offensive dog: it isn’t really dangerous, on leash, and so you can’t sensibly give it a stiff whack with a stick that a bigger, truly attacking dog requires.

There is a problem though. This little yappy dog, if elected, is a heartbeat away from the presidency. John McCain, regardless of his merits, is a 72 year old man, who by realistic insurance industry guidelines has a 24% chance of dying before the end of his first term in office.

Who among you truly wants a President who would gleefully do what Ms. Palin is doing now? All in favor ….

76. Bubba Tex | 10.05.08

Here it comes, America. All McCain has left is fear and smear.

We have one more big test before we can turn this dreadful page (a smear) on American history.

On a more positive note, I think we should initiate a special 30-day tax on the use of the words: “terrorist” “maverick” “change” “you betcha” and “socialist.” It will blot out the bailout and still leave a little extra to start cleaning out the Repub’s Aegien stables.

Bubba Tex

77. BTL | 10.05.08

McCain and Palin might want to think twice about slinging mud regarding acquaintances of Obama. The republican candidates have expressed dismay over protective behavior education designed to prevent children from being the victim of sexual predators, and have also come out as being opposed to teaching young urban children to avoid being infected by aids through discarded needles. McCain and Palin have little interest in protecting children from aids or predators. As far as I am concerned those that are opposed to protective behaviors education are either pedophiles or are protecting pedophiles, or both. Is this the motivation of McCain and Palin?

78. Jakop | 10.05.08

I had the opportunity to watch Saturday Night Live last night and watched actress Tina Fey deliver lines (as Sarah Palin). It never occured to me that Tina Fey was reciting those lines as her own - they were written for her and she delivered them with such realism that some uninformed idiot could think she really feels and believes that way. Mrs. Palin does the very same thing when she spouts off about the Democratic candidates. She,too, is nothing but a very good actress - I say good because so many people really believe her. The words are not hers and the uninformed ought to know that. Maybe when this running for vp thing blows over and she is back in Alaska, she might think about a job reading scripts. I really want a president-in-waiting to have independent thought, but she doesn’t have any.

79. Jane | 10.05.08

When Sarah Palin makes untrue, incendiary comments in order to get headlines, the media rewards the Republicans with headlines. Just stop it! When she has something new to say about policy, by all means, cover her. “McCain and I are mavericks” doesn’t count.

80. Rich | 10.05.08

What a shame that the most important positions in the country have degraded to a smear campaign from McCain and Palin. Neither of these two can speak to the issues in any intelligent way, but they have a very nasty combination of lies and will basically say anything to get elected. It is NOT “Country First” it is really “Candidate First”. I am disgusted how this has progressed from the republican side. This is how Bush was elected and I can only hope that this travesty will not repeat in our history, The country will not survive another “Bush-like” presidency.

Rich

81. Tom | 10.05.08

The McCain campaign is desperate. They are behind in the polls and have forfeited Michigan to Obama. Palin is being used to deflect the legitimate criticisms from McCain and Bush. It won’t work. They are underestimating the intelligence of the voters. They have antagonized the media, not a very smart move, and their campaign will only go down from here. There is plenty of dirt to dish upon McCain/Palin. As Alaskans become more aware of Palin, her poll numbers are declining. Three of her best friends in Alaska declined to state who they were going to vote for in the election. The Bush legacy will spell defeat for McCain in November.

84. Mike | 10.05.08

And why is this news and Palin’s membership in the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party not? The position of the party’s founder, Joe Vogler, was stated as “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.” She appears to be the real radical here. Once again, the McCain ticket attempts to accuse his competition of it’s own weaknesses. If this sounds familiar, just look to Bush 2000 and Bush 2004. The same folks that ran those campaigns are at work here.

Actually, I think that Tina Fey writes her own material. At worst, she wrote at least some of last night’s performance. This is more than you can say for Barracuda Palin.

I am really looking forward to the results of the Trooper-gate investigation. I am also looking forward to her retreating to Alaska after the election, tail between her legs, to become nothing more than a footnote in American history.

I am not a Christian but get upset that people who stoop themselves to the type of Republican behavior consider themselves Christians. Their behavior goes against the whole Christian philosophy -humility, forgiveness, and love thy neighbor- and makes all Christians look bad. I am sure there are some REAL christians that exhibit those qualities insted of those neocons that have ruined the name of Christianity. Shame on them and shame on Palin and McCain. AMERICA IS IN DANGER!
OBAMA’S POLITICAL CAREER STARTED WITH HIS AFFILIATION WITH WILLIAM AYERS AND BERNARDINE DOHRN, THE UNREPENTANT TERRORISTS … part of “The Weathermen” terrorist group which launched a campaign to bomb” the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. In the 90’s, both “Community Organizers” Ayers and Obama worked together for years, radicalizing the Chicago school system.

At a 1969 “War Council” in Flint, Michigan, Weatherman leaders Ayer and Bernardine Dohrn proclaimed that the time had come to launch a war against “Amerikkka”. The Weather Underground went on to claim credit for some 25 bombings over the next several years, detonating explosives at the rebuilt Haymarket statue, a bathroom at the Pentagon, the Capitol barber shop, the New York City police headquarters, and a variety of other targets.

BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA’S CLOSE ASSOCIATION WITH RADICAL EXTREMISTS PUTS AMERICA IN DANGER of being taken over by a group of radical terrorists that would “change” America as Obama has promised;…but the change would be to fulfill the dreams of the Weathermen of overthrowing capitalism and launching a race war against the “white” United States.

AMERICANS OF ALL PARTIES MUST COME TOGETHER AND DEFEND OUR COUNTRY against dangerous terrorists and vote for a True American Patriot, John McCain!

AMERICA FIRST!
JOHN MCCAIN AND SARAH PALIN

Guilt by association eh?

Obama has never even had dinner with Ayers.

McCain was a close personal friend and confidant and implied in the savings and loan scandle. McCain was one of the Keating 5 gosh darn it. It not only cost the taxpayer 1.3 trillion dollars (we are still paying) it also cost over 20,000 mostly senior citizens to lose everything they had as the Lincoln group used extreme predator tactics to bilk them out of every dime so they could invest the money in junk.

It was a nasty and gross episond of our nations history and McCain was amongst Keatings most personal friends and again, McCain WAS one of the Keating 5.

So who hung out with the biggest terrorist?
Obama who never personaly knew Ayers or hung out with him.
Or McCain, who was implied with Keating in the largest bailout in the nations history. One that cost us 1.3 trillion dollars and DESTROYED the lives of 20,000 mostly seniors as they took every penny from them KNOWINGLY with the intent to BILK them.

McCain should have great shame for trying to play the association game.

I forgive Pain, she knows not what she does.

93. John Locke | 10.05.08

Palin is doing what she should do - expose Obama’s terrorist, communist, and Muslim ties. The American people need to know the truth (those who actually want it!) That is because it matters - you cannot elect someone with a lot of theatrics, flash, but someone who has no substance, and any substance you may find, is not the right kind. It is not about republican, democrat, black or white, but WHAT the person represents, by their record (or, in Obama’s case, lack of one) however, his voting record proves two things: 1. either he does not take a stand that can be used against him later or 2. he votes 97% on the left. This proves he is not out to unite democrats and republicans, or anyone else for that matter. The radicalness of his former pastor of 15 years, The Rev. Wright, proves Obama is in the radical camp. He is not patriotic, or he would have a flag on his plane. He wants to be friends with our enemies, so the real issue is this: Whose side are you on, Mr. Obama? Palin needs to expose him, as the media has covered up every Obama skeleton. Americans need to be informed. That is what Palin is doing.

94. Sandra S | 10.05.08

Palin is no barracuda, she is a coward. Her surface appearance hides the ambitious, soul-less liar that she is. It is no wonder that a coward that would have animals shot from helicopters and condone wolf pups removed from their den and shot, would join in the low-life, sleeze campaign of John McCain.

And it is a laugh to think that a woman that doesn’t know what she reads, or distrusts the media, turns around and takes the words out of context from a NYT article which was disproved months ago. And form Obama’s fact site: “In 2004, Harold Simmons was the biggest funder of the manipulative smear group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. In 2008, Simmons is the sole donor funding a vicious attack ad in some battleground states that uses tortured logic and clumsy innuendo to invent a tie between Barack Obama and terrorism.

The ad goes completely beyond the pale by cynically exploiting the tragedy of 9/11 in an unfounded connection with Chicago academic William Ayers. Then it claims that Ayers somehow “launched” Barack Obama’s career — an assertion so outlandish that not even Simmons’ fellow discredited Swift Boater Jerome Corsi included it in his smear book.

The ad may even be a criminal violation of campaign finance laws. Simmons has previously been fined tens of thousands of dollars for campaign finance violations – including forging the signatures of his own daughters to make political contributions from trust funds.”

And now Palin has also shown what a criminal she is. Why aren’t these people in jail? We can see that Bush’s appointees to the bench are serving their masters well. I hope President Obama’s appointees will bring justice to criminals like Rove, Gingrich, Cheney, Bush, McCain and now Palin.

It is also interesting that McCain, Gingrich and Giuliani all left their wives for younger women - sleezeballs that they are; while Obama loves his wife and they have a marriage of integrity. Republican hypocricy grows more with each day. I will be happy when our country returns to decency under Obama and a Democratic Congress/Senate.

95. Rob | 10.05.08

Sickening. Reagan must be turning in his grave. Karl Rove has infected the GOP. Republicans need to stand up and take their party back from the smear crew. How can this happen in America?

96. aloha | 10.05.08

Outside perspective: In Germany we had, from 1998 to 2005, a government full of politicians who not only talked to homegrown left wing radicals in the 60’s, but supported some of them actively by, for example, hiding them from the police force. Our foreign affairs minister, Joschka Fischer, the guy who had the balls to confront Rumsfeld, even beat and hurt officers back then. But 30 years later all of them did an excellent job in office. Unemployment is half now from what it was before. So what’s the big deal then with Obama knowing somebody, distantly, who meant trouble a long time ago? I wonder what dubious friends McCain has to offer. The world comes in shades of grey.

Remind me, which candidate’s wife was it that was head of charity that supplied medical care to children in impoverished countries, but was also using the same charity’s funds and doctors to feed her own addiction to prescription painkillers?

Ok, so let’s not bring the spouses into this. They aren’t running for office, their husbands are. And as you can see, there’s plenty of mud sling from the other side as well.

J.Paul Kahler

Does this mean that McCain is responsible for the Kent State murders because he was in the military at that time? No, but he is responsible for advocating and supporting a war policy by Cheney and Rumsfeld that is a total failure. Does this mean that McCain is responsible for the Savings and Loan bailout because he and Charles Keating were best friends at that time? No, but he is responsible for the cause of the economic bailout because he advocated and voted for deregulation laws for the financial markets. Does this mean that McCain is anti-American because he hugged Bui Tin during the POW-MIA senate hearings, a North Vietnamese who tortured Americans during the Vietnam War? No, but he is responsible for picking unqualified Palin as his VP without properly vetting her, which proves that he is “Me First and Country Last.” Does this mean that McCain and Bush are one in the same because they are republicans? No, but if your voting record shows that you voted with President Bush 90% of the time, then you are responsible for the failed policies of the Bush administration. And, finally, McCain and Palin aren’t the solution, they are the problem because their action’s speak louder than their words. It clearly shows that McCain and Palin only care about themselves and will say anything to get elected. Thank God, there are a lot of Americans who see right through their hypocrisy! And, thank God to all of you Americans who aren’t drinking this tainted “Kool-Aid!” So, keep spreading the word and when you see these hypocrisies, oppose them and expose for what they are, the greatest hypocrites since Bush and Cheney!

Palin is overplaying this Joe Sixpack act. During the VP debate I sometimes caught myself thinking this must be the Fey impersonation. The folksy speak, the cuty winks and responding with slogans which were not related to the questions were too much. How far have we come if we can’t even be sure if our candidates are playing the clown or just plain dumb !

The comments and innuendo about Obama and Ayers put forth by the republicans, being so obviously trumped up to scare anyone out of voting for him, is the most disgusting thing I’ve experienced in this election so far. Anyone who could do that should not be leading our country because it shows that they care more about winning the election then the unity and security of the USA. If Obama becomes president how can we go forward as a nation with so many of us believing such accusations about him. Telling the public lies to get elected is not new and maybe some Americans except that as ‘par for the coarse’, but lies of this nature and others I’ve read and heard lately can only serve to tear us apart, or worse bring harm to him. One doesn’t have to be psychic to divine what the future might be like if Obama’s elected and close to half of us think he is evil or in some way trying to harm us. God help us all and pray this style of campaigning will cease, or I don’t see much of a future for our country. Please, please stop this stuff.

105. Will | 10.05.08

…And Palin touts herself as a Christian? In the Holy Bible, Exodus 20:16 reads “Thou shalt not bear false witness”. How hypocritical that she spreads lies, without winking a eye and represents herself as a Christian. On the campaign trail, she’s saying about Sen. Barack Obama “Our opponent though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.” ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE!!!” God isn’t pleased.

Wind up this Pit Bull and it barks too!. Palin is a mouthpiece for McCain so that he can avoid spewing slanderous remarks himself. Its a matter of honor, you know. Send out Palin. She will say just about anything and already has. . We are just entering the dirtiest phase of McCain’s already nasty but losing campaign. Obama will need to be super vigilant to fight this garbage and he will need to send out his attack dogs as well. The SwiftBoaters, Rovian dirty tricksters, Jerome Corsi, Willie Horton ads, Scary Sarah, its going to be like a Hollywood horror movie until we put the wooden stake into the McCain campaign on November 4th.

Furthermore, Palin is actually married to a documented secessionist, Todd Palin, who is a former member of the Alaska Independence Party. He was comfortable belonging to and being associated with a political party whose founder seemed to delight in denouncing the principles that hold our union together. Talk about consorting with people who hate America, Palin is married to one.

It’s easy to spot the fox ‘news’ addicts in the crowd here. Anyone that thinks you can get an honest assessment from Sean Hannity doesn’t know how to vet a news source. I understand that this type of ideology-driven ‘news’ coverage is very comforting to some, but that doesn’t make it real. Even if you hate the NY Times, remember that even with all it’s problems at least they fire people they catch messing with the facts. Fox has still not fired Hannity or O’Reily, neither of which would survive in any legitimate news organization.

US Census Bureau Statistics indicate that the higher your education level the more likely that you will vote Democrat. Actually most voters that support Obama are consider to be better educated. As a matter fact this is one of the points that’s has come out about Rural USA; the less educated general public is supporting McCain.

So the above would explain Palin’s appeal to the Republicans. They are not interested in intellectual dialoge and debates. Republican’s education levels can only digest sound bites, folksy says and don’t forget their favoriate …FEARMONGERING!! I find a McBush Presidency more scary than the prospect of terrorist. The Republicans have done more to ruin our Economy, our leadership status in the World and our Children’s Future, than Al-Quaeda could possibly have imagined or plotted. Every terrorist group must be having a great laugh at our expense. I am certain every terrorist organization is hoping American will be dumb enough to vote for 4 more years of McSame.

It’s out right SHAMEFUL that Palin would evoke the “he’s not like us” card. Her comments come across as racist. This race is over, Obama will win and Palin really put her foot for the last time.

For all of us that lived through segregation and the racist times of the 60’s. I am very insulted by her comments. In these trouble timeS we need a leader like Obama. That the McCain-Palin crowd dismiss his Community Organizer experience only highlights their ignorance; by saying “what is a community organizers” asked the person that started the right the vote, the person that fought against slavery, the person that fought for proper public education funding or the fight to remove lead from public buildings. To the the greatest men of the 20th Century Mathatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were “Community Organizers”

Palin the “Bull Dog with lipstick” must feel backed to a corner, you know what they say about dogs when they smell FEAR; they attack!!

I did a google news search on Obama and did not find a single news item mentioning him that was older than 6 years. How did the guy suddenly crop up? What special interests are backing him? Is it not a possibility that he’s an agent for those who seek to weaken America from within? As a presidential candidate does he not have to be above all suspicion? Atleast with McCain you know that America’s interests will not be deliberately compromised, can one say the same about Obama? Americans need to sort out the answers to these questions before they cast their vote. They owe it to the security of not just America but all of the free world.

113. SportRook | 10.05.08

John Locke, I implore you to read a real newspaper and stop getting your news from Palin.

It’s racist, yes RACIST to keep insisting that Obama is a Muslin, terroist or anthing remotely similar. It would be more honest of any Republican that believes this nonsense to come out and say they rather vote of an ingonant has-been beauty queen than to vote for a Black Harvard Law Graduate, Law Review President, Law Professor.

Don’t hide your racism behind the wall of patriotism. I dare you to find one reliable source that will stand by the fact that Obama is a Muslim or Terroist. Even the Republican Fox Media will not stand for these preposterous Palin sound bites.

I know this is a lot to ask; but Republicans READ!!! Or at the very least be honest and say you don’t want a Black President and STOP with the lies and fearmogering. Remember Independents and Democrats have higher degrees of education than your average “Six Pack Joe / Hockey Mom” Republican and we can read and recognize the truth from a lies!!!!

Word on the street is that Ayers has been a community leader and an advocate for education.

It is unfortunate that Americans had to resort to violence to get our government’s attention in the 60’s, but if you remember … that’s how it was. There was a stupid war that needed to end.

Samuel Adams was a terrorist.

“how could anyone in their right mind support or vote for obama ?”

Because, unlike you, we actually go out an inform ourselves (sometimes reading actual newspapers, rather than having them handed to us so we can take something out of context). And some of us even read the constitution, and know what the powers of the vice president are (how long did they have to coach her on that answer?)

A good book for you to read would be 1984 - pay particular attention to the ‘Ministry of Truth’…I think Sarah would relate very well to that.

This woman claims she is a Christian. To be a “Christian” implies you are a FOLLOWER and a DISCIPLE OF CHRIST of Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified for preaching the Truth and vindicated by God through the Resurrection. How come then that Ms. Palin tells LIES, the opposite of the One we call the “TRUTH”, with such ease? How are her LIES a testimony to her FAITH in Jesus Christ? Jesus, the Carpenter’s Son, never once in his life told a lie. Yes, Palin’s confession of faith in Christ, like Bushes, is nothing but A-WILL-TO-POWER. That is blasphemy. This woman is the epitome of what is terribly wrong with the Republican Party.

Why is it that Obama’s relationships with a convicted felon, a terrorist, and a racist preacher is off the table for analysis and discussion? The main stream media has spent days and weeks dumpster diving in Wasilla, Alaska, to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin. But Obama gets a free pass on Bill Ayers, Tony Rezko and Reverend Wright.

Let’s take Ayers. He was a member of Weather Underground, a domestic terrorist organization that planned attacks on the Pentagon and the Capitol, set off bombs and killed a policeman in San Francisco. Ayers has never apologized for this and in fact said he “didn’t do enough”.

All this happened while Barack Obama was a child. So there’s his defense: “What that man did Barack Obama has condemned. And by the way, he did it when Barack Obama was 8 years old. Come on,” Democratic senator McCaskill said.

But consider this: While Obama was a child during the bombings, he was certainly a grown up when he held his first political fund raiser — in Ayer’s private home! What kind of judgment does this show? And where’s the “condemnation” McCaskill refers to? Are we supposed to believe that Obama first uses Ayers to raise money, then later condemns him?

There is a long chain of bad judgment calls in Obama’s political life. He bought his house in a shady real estate deal from a man who was later convicted for fraud and is now in prison. His pastor for 20 years calls for God to “damn America” and claims that white people intentionally inflicted AIDS on blacks. His first fund raiser was held in the house of a terrorist, and he served on the board of an organization founded by this terrorist for years afterwards.

There’s no doubt Obama has given many inspiring speeches and has a charming and charismatic personality. But Americans should consider his actions, not just his lofty words. They don’t add up.

McCain supported this disastrous war that has squandered human lives, U.S. prestige, wealth, and lot more. He should not have deserved a second chance after showing such poor judgment. Yet republicans have offered him up as their choice. He has demonstrated extremely poor judgment again in selecting Palin as his running mate. Here is someone who idolizes Cheyney (the guy who has shown no remorse for all the things he has perpetrated on us - War, Gitmo,…..)!

Now we hear that McCain camp believes that this campaign is not about issues and that’s why they will throw mud everywhere to hide our understanding of issues.

I ,for one, do not understand what they mean by promoting a culture of life when they are for killing innocent people elsewhere in the name of national security, and for lax gun control that contributes to killing of innocent people within the U.S.

Can anyone who has watched Obama’s debates or website explain how 6.2 percent for $250,000 will help the economy significantly? I don’t think that would be enough to help the economy. I would rather see 10 to 15 percent straight with no loop hole and breaks.

I also prefer no bailouts of the economy (those that purchased recklessly should dig there own selves out of their holes). There’s a lot of industries that aren’t affected by the housing and lending problems. For example, toilet paper. Use of toilet paper isn’t going down by any stretch of the imagination.

126. Edward Smith | 10.05.08

Why all the hysteria from the left? Statements from #10 John (Mr. Special Forces) and #43 David inaccurately describing John McCain’s actions as prisoner of war are irresponsible. Why do those of the liberal left believe that it is reasonable for them to lie while in the same breath they criticize Republicans for the same? It really does sound like hate derived from fear. “What you don’t understand you fear. What you fear you hate.” Perhaps Gov Palin has hit a nerve by having the audacity to point that Barack (his middle name really is Hussein) Obama has demonstrated behaviour that many in the electorate find questionable. Take a deep breath, put your big girl panties on, and really examine your candidate.

Since when did being an activist become being a terrorist? Last i checked being an activist was about the most patriotic thing a person could do. Isnt that what America is all about? An individual speaking truth to the establishment?

The coorporate news media in this country has gotten so bad and one sided that i dont think it can even be considered news anymore. I believe all coorporate media companies need to say what they really are, propaganda machines for the right wing neo-con party.

I mean come on…I had to go to UTUBE to show people at work the other day the Sarah Palin video of her exorcism or whatever you want to call it. Nobody had seen it. But the William Wright video was played on every tv and media outlet across this country till all of us people were tired of seeing it and turning off our tv’s everytime it came on every 15minutes or so.

I cant wait till we get Pres Obama and some regulated fairness put back in the media of this country. I mean with the republican party basically waging a WAR AGAINST the MIDDLE CLASS of this country: backrupting our country and still asking for more tax breaks, Endless wars based on false, fixed, and corupted intel.
i’m ashamed to call myself an American anymore. When i travel outside the USA now i tell everyone i’m from Canada. I could only wish we had many more in this country like Bill Ayers: people willing to stand up to a wrong administration, wrong in every way and everything they do.

Funny how the media is in the “bag” for Obama. No mention of his middle name Hussien. No mention he was raised a Muslim when he was younger. (Except he wasn’t raised a Muslim and his middle name is constantly tossed around so, unless you’re living in a cave, it’s pretty difficult to not be aware of his middle name.)

No mention he admitted on ABC interview with George Stephenopolus “my Muslim faith” and then backtracks and says “my Christian faith”. (oh, and of course your candidates never make a slip of the tongue. Perhaps he meant to say “my so called Muslim faith”)

No mention he used and sold drugs in his youth. No mention radical race hating Nation of Islam endorses him.(Actually Obama wrote about this very subject in his book, so yes, it is common knowledge but considering how G.W. Bush did such a sterling job supporting the cocaine industry in his youth and his open confession that he smoked pot at Camp David during his father’s administration I don’t think you have much room to criticize. Many of us experimented with drugs in our youth but went on to become good citizens and taxpayers. Obama has no control over who endorses him. I’m sure the Aryan Nation supports McCain.)

I was considering voting GOP in my state’s (Wash.) governatorial race this year…but not anymore. Palin’s line of attack is patently absurd and completely false. If this is the best the Republican party can offer, don’t count on my vote for a long time. There is something inherently wrong with a party that can’t offer a competitive solution to our country’s problems, and instead has to sink to this new low in order to pander for votes.

It’s sick.

140. Nell | 10.05.08

Gov. Palin doesn’t seem to realize that every appearance she makes is a job interview – and that, so far, she is falling on her pretty face. Her inability to answer questions is mindboggling; we are not looking for a Chatty Cathy doll. And attacks on Obama make voters think she’s applying for the job of First Witch; so her preacher’s voodoo, sure enough, didn’t cure her of her witch-i-ness. The question is: Who or what will she jeer next? (Forget any of that thou-shall-not-bear-false-witness faith-stuff.)

SARAH, it’s time to tell us what you know on the issues that a world leader must address. Hockey moms and Joe Six-pack are trying to take care of their own kitchen table issues; they want someone who has demonstrated he/she has the background and readiness to tackle the problems that cross the desk of the POTUS. They don’t want someone like them; they want someone who is head-and-shoulders above them. So far, Gov, you’ve been the artful dodger in answering any and all questions - and have not demonstrated that you are as knowledgeable on issues as women who voluntarily study and discuss issues in the League of Women Voters. In the Trump tradition: Sarah, you’re fired!

And McCain-Palin should know that those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. John-the-fundamentals-are-sound McCain was not an eight-year-old when he and Charles Keating were buddy-buddy. That cozy relationship shows his lack of concern for the little guy, hockey moms or Joe Six-pack. McCain accepted big bucks in campaign contributions and a vacation junket and then met with federal regulators on Keating’s behalf. The Keating Caper cost taxpayers 124.6 billion when 747 S&Ls failed – and 21,000 mostly elderly investors lost their life savings. SO when McCain says he doesn’t know much about economics, his track record proves it. That’s straight talk.

Somewhere between the false attacks of the McCain campaign and the really awful behavior and performance of the Bush administration I’ve lost hope in the Republican party. Worse than that, I’ve lost whatever trust I might have had in them. All these lies - doesn’t the truth matter anymore? My neighbor lost his job because the furniture plant closed down… my friend cut from the restaurant as a waitress due to the slow economy, this is reality, these are real people.

I find the conduct of the campaign to be a sinful, deceitful disgrace. Everywhere I look all I can see are fools bashing Obama and calling people names like “Koolaid” drinker, “Obambis” and other weird things. It makes me ashamed for the party, really.

I’m so turned off from the Republicans at this point I will likely never vote Republican again. And that’s a shame for them I guess because I’ve got a lot of voting years ahead of me yet.

143. John Dell | 10.05.08

John McCain has put it all on the line and there is no going back. This is his last hurrah. When he is done he will not even have enough of himself left to stay in the Senate. Watch him in the next debate. See him failing physically and mentally before your eyes. He is too old and too used up. He is rapidly becoming a disgrace to his father, grand father, his party and his country. He cannot lead us anywhere but into his past.

We had hoped for so much more from you, John McCain. There is a time when honor demands that one straighten up and stop the nonsense. You knew this once but have forgetten the honor of your fathers and so become a mere player on the stage, bound by contract to finish your scripted lines before the curtain comes down.

Palin exhibits a lot of the characteristics of a psychopath. She is glib and a master of superficial charm (Tina Fey nailed it with, to paraphrase, can I can you Joe, cause I have a lot of zingers using Joe), has a grandiose sense of self worth (not only does she believe she is qualified to be VP, even though she barely understands what the job entails, she would seek a constitutional amendment to expand her powers as VP if she were elected), she is pathological lier (calling her opponent a terrorist without basis),
cunning & manipulative (ask all the Alaskan politicians she’s backstabbed),
shows lack of remorse or guilt (asked what her Achilles heel was, she can’t think of any because she always thinks she’s right), shallow, and is callous & lacking in empathy (caught smiling smugly aften Biden got choked up in the debate recalling the deaths of his first wife and daughter). I feel sorry for her family, especially Bristol and the baby Trig. They are her victims. Clearly McCain’s judgement is off. There were many more qualified candidates that would have appealed to the conservative and religious right. Even they are turned off by this nutcase. VOTE McCain -Palin!!”

Gentry - nice opening statement… You do nothing to further the public discourse by calling others “dumb”. Typical, because you lose if you debate the real issues.

However, before you call other “dumb”, maybe you should check your facts. Let me first say that I am no fan of Congress because, with the exception of a very few, they are all looking out for their self interests, at the expense of the rest of us. But to say that the Democratic-led Congress “are the ones causing all of these problems not the president”, is not accurate.

CIVICS 101:
The House and Senate pass bills they hope will become law. The President always has the ability to wield the VETO pen and tell Congress “No!”. Only if the Sentate has over 60 votes can the VETO be overridden and the Democrats are far from holding 60 seats in the Senate. Therefore, Bush (with the support of the GOPs in Congress) can veto ANY AND ALL legislation sent to him.

So President Shrub is just as responsible as Congress for any laws passed in the last eight years. Matter of fact, he GOP is wholly responsible for anything that passed prior to Jan 2007, when the slim Democratic majority took control of Congress.

It will take some time for the dust to settle, but there is a very good chance that objective observers will deem Dubya’s administration the very WORST presidential administration in the history of this country.

But I suppose it depends on your perspective… If you are the ultra wealthy, you have loved the last 8 years. But if you are one of the working stiffs that live paycheck to paycheck and have seen your buying power shrink under GOP rule, you may consider him and his cronies a waste of human skin.

Lastly, don’t forget that McCain has voted with Bush policies 90% of the time. Unless you are a millionaire, WHY would you vote for the party that, over the last 25 years, has completley sold out our country, with a huge movement of wealth from the average middle class citizen to the richest of the rich?

Educate yourself (if you can pass Civics 101)…

Hussein is a very common name.

It is from the Semitic word hasan, meaning “good” or “handsome.” Husayn is the diminutive, affectionate form.

Barack Obama’s middle name is in honor of his grandfather, Hussein, a secular resident of Nairobi, Kenya.

“Barack” is a Semitic word meaning “to bless” as a verb or “blessing” as a noun. In its Hebrew form, barak, it is found all through the Bible. It first occurs in Genesis 1:22 — “And God blessed (ḇāreḵə) them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.”

The Obama-Biden campaign is smart not to engage in similiar mud slinging that McCain and his cutesy Pit Bull is doing. They know that you don’t get in a “gas passing” ( I am being polite) contest with a skunk - for you will surely come in a dismal second.

Oh by the way the clip about lipstick, remember, a female pit bull is defined as a “bitch”. You can put lipstick on a female pit bull, but regretably, it is still a “bitch”.

Wake up, People!! It has been said, through the Ages, that we are judged by the company we keep. How many friends and associates does it take for all of you non-believers, that OBAMA has, and is surrounded by some of the most despicable people that this Great Land has ever known!! Bill Ayers, Franklin R., James J., Jeremiah W., Father F., Tony R., Sen. J. from Chicago, and only OUR LORD knows how many others, that helped bring him to the greatest possible, and most important position, in the entire Free World. He got there also, through the use of a great gift of Command and the spellbinding Appeal of Rhetoric, bellowed from the mouth of a man, who has mastered the delivery of the English language. He takes full advantage of the so-called “Poor Performance” of our present leader, George Bush. It is repeated, over and over, and over, constantly, by he, and his “Zombie” entranced followers, who he has under his only, too familiar, tired, spell, of worn out phrases. I grant you, that, I, too, would like to see some major changes made, but. is this the best that our America, can do?? I think not. Not only has this man fooled so many of the people, but, he has stripped so many people of much needed money, through their donations, and continues to do so. He is trying to get elected, at any cost (yours), and taking advantage, of his color of skin (90% backing), and WOWING the younger generation, with his “rock Star image”, and, on top of all of that, he has some of the major news media promoting his image, while, ignoring the Republican ticket, along with “bad-mouthing” them. I do give credit to such media stalwarts as Bill O’reilly, Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Glen Beck, to name a few (they have not been brain-washed). They stand tall, and refuse to be bought off, as so many others have. He has flooded the areas of most critical states, going door to door, to get people to register, and, to vote, (some, currently, being accused of voting more than once) for him, flooded the advertising markets, and mailings, all with your money, and your great numbers, of followers. He is trying to “BUY THE PRESIDENCY”. Wake Up, before it’s too late!!! We can do better than “THE MEDICINE MAN”, Barack Obama.

Guilt by association is a dangerous game. We might, for instance, point out that Palin has been sleeping with a man who joined a party that thinks so little of America that it advocates succession from the country. This didn’t happen when Sarah Palin was eight years old, and as a gubernatorial candidate she spoke at the party’s 2006 convention. As governor she told the party, “Keep up the good work!”

Palling around with people who don’t see America the way you and I do? Check the mirror, Sarah.

“You don’t have to be a Weatherman to see which way the wind blows,” and it’s blowing towards the politics of hate slander, thanks to the advice of Karl Rove and his henchmen in the McCain campaign. It reminds me of the advice to argue the facts when they are with you, and to argue the law when the facts are against you. Apparently, if they are both against you, you smear your opponent. There used to be some reasonable basis for respecting Senator McCain’s character, but I have lost all respect for him due to the way he is conducting this campaign, and due to his choice of a naive, ignorant, inexperienced governor because he needed to shore up the conservative Republican base, with no consideration given to the very real possibility that she could end up as the leader of the free world, due to McCain’s age and health. The thought of a President Palin is embarassing and frightening.

157. Roxanne | 10.05.08

I am surprised at some of the comments here, which support what Sarah Palin is doing. And who think that her attacks have any credibility.

First, as has been mentioned, the “Ayersgate” was brought up in the primaries and dismissed. It is a no issue. Second, let’s take a look at it. Ayers was a member of the Weathermen, and the charges against him were dropped and he was never convicted of any crime. However, even if he did take part in any bombings, it was 40 YEARS AGO. Obama was 8 years old.

Third, even though the McCain campaign calls him an unrepentant terrorist, I would like to know why they think he is unrepentant. He has gone on to become an esteemed professor of education, has worked to improve education and the juvenile court system in Chicago, and to work for poverty focused charities, which is how he met Obama. Is this man still a terrorist? Has he not redeemed himself? Is he still engaged in terrorist activities?

Apparently, Palin thinks that he and Obama were cooking up terrorist activities in 1995. Not that they happened to be on the same boards, and were doing community activity to improve the lives of people living in Chicago.

So what if he helped fund Obama’s campaign? It doesn’t mean that Obama is “palling around with a terrorist,” or has any relation to what this man did in the 1960s. He isn’t Obama’s friend, by the way, but just one of the millions who helped support his political aspirations.

I would like Palin, and any of you who agree with her, to furnish proof that Ayers is still a terrorist and engaged in terrorist activities. I would like you to furnish proof that Obama somehow is involved in terrorism, by virtue of a casual association with this man, who he hasn’t spoken to in years, by the way.

I see this as an act of sheer desperation on the part of the McCain campaign. Is this how you want your president and VP to behave? Instead of telling us what they plan to do as the leaders of our country, they are instead, slandering their opponents. Nice.

And I love how McCain sent Palin to do his dirty work for him. Let her take all the flack. The woman probably has no idea who the Weathermen were, and that they were active 40 years ago, and probably never heard the name Ayers until someone told her to go and attack. She can only repeat soundbytes and prerecorded scripts, so I would guess that she hasn’t a clue what she is even accusing Obama of.

Anyway, again, I am just amazed how anyone can support these ridiculous attacks.

158. Marta | 10.05.08

Poor Sarah Palin…talks about how Bill Ayers’s children and Obama’s children go to the same school, when all of Bill Ayers’s children are adults and probably not attending grammar school. Poor fact checker?

159. Acerbic | 10.05.08

So this Ayers guy is a terrorist? And he’s running free right here in America? Why is this REPUBLICAN administration not locking up this TERRORIST but letting him go just like they did with bin Laden?!? I’m so sick of these terrorist-loving Republicans! It’s time to let Democrats show what they will do.

I am always amused by these mindless Obamabot minions who show up in droves at blogs all across the web. Some of those folks are paid staffers, some are volunteers, many are Obamabot zombies.

Discussing Obama’s friendship with terrorist Ayers is fair game. Discussing Palin’s “Troopergate” affair is fair game. Discussing Obama’s decades long close association with “God damn America” Wright is fair game. Discussing Todd Palin’s past participation in this Alaska “secession” organization is fair game.

Those topics and many other topics are fair game while those discussing relate facts and truths. These issues point to a person’s character and judgement. Those issues are only fair game when discussed with maturity and common sense. Most, not all, but most of what I read being written by Obama staffers at blogs, most of this is simply not true. I also read “stretching of the truth” by McCain supporters, but much less in number and much less in wild claims.

Part of this disparity in numbers between Obama and McCain blog commentaries is Obama can afford to pay people to work blogs in massive numbers. McCain cannot afford to have the same done.

A point which is critically important is all these “bad” people associated with Palin or McCain, none of those people blew up buildings nor perpetrated violent terrorist acts upon our country. Yes, there is Troopergate and there is Keating, there are other incidents of not good favor, but none of those incidents involve widespread terrorist attacks on our country, much like the 9-11 horror. Ayers and his old friends are terrorists, this is beyond debate.

Very few, most likely no readers here would associate with Ayers. This would be like associating with Islamic terrorists. This is distasteful, this is inappropriate, this is selling out your dignity at a cheap price. Obama using Ayers to launch his political career, Obama maintaining friendship with Ayers, Obama simply being in the company of Ayers, is a slap across the face of our country and is for Obama to sell his dignity to further his political career. This does call into question Obama’s character and his judgement.

Obama associating with Ayers is like one of us playing golf with O.J. Simpson.

These issues are fair political game but must be addressed with fairness and truth. We cannot afford to play deceitful games; our country’s future is at stake.

CNN Factcheck:

“Verdict: False. There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now “palling around,” or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years. Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are.”

163. Antonio Sosa | 10.05.08

Palin is RIGHT! Obama seems to see America as imperfect as Castro, Chavez and other dictators who hate the U.S. tell us it is. An what is worst, his campaign, his slogans, his ideas, are almost identical as those of Chavez, Correa and other presidents who have become dictators, are ruining their countries, and are working with terrorists against the U.S. Chavez’ and Correa’s followers also chanted CAMBIO (CHANGE) and Sí se puede (Yes, we can) believing that anything they wanted to change would change. Chávez, Correa can also TALK and mesmerize crowds, just like Hitler, Castro, and Obama.

164. Antonio Sosa | 10.05.08

Shaun, you are absolutely right! The media is intent in making us forget that Obama middle name Hussien and that was a name he chose, and that he WAS raised a Muslim when he was younger. Wonder why?

They are not mentioning that he referred on ABC interview with George Stephenopolus to “my Muslim faith” and then backtracked and said “my Christian faith”. Wonder why?

They want to forget the fact that he sat in Trinity Church for 20 YEARS while Rev. Wright spewed racially charged sermons week after week but Obama never heard him say anything bad.

They want us to repeat that the “emperor’s clothes are wonderful,” when we can clearly see that emperor Obama is naked, naked of patriotism, naked of experience.

They want us to forget that Obama has been friends of people who hate this country and that he repeats slogans of Castro, Chávez and others who also hate us and the United States.

You are right, if Obama wins our enemies will be dancing in the streets of Tehran, Damascus, Pyongong, and Caracas.

165. SavedGirl | 10.06.08

Obama should be arrested for terrorism, this is completely unaceptable. In any case it completely disqualifies him to be president. This should be the top story on talk radio until the election!

166. tranchemontaigne | 10.06.08

Given previous concern raised about Joe Biden’s misattributing quotes, has anyone realized that Sarah Palin’s frequent references to the “city of light” as a beacon for the world comes from John Winthrop’s “A Modell of Christian Charity” and not Ronald Reagan? Winthrop was in turn inspired by the Christian scriptures…Matthew 5:14.

167. tranchemontaigne | 10.06.08

Has anyone stopped to consider that Joe biden is not the only one with a problem attributing ideas to people?

Sarah Palin’s continues to credit Ronald Regan with her understanding of the United States as being the “city on the hill” serving as a “beacon of light” for the rest of the world is wrong.

This idea (as applied to Massachusetts in the days of the English Colonies that became the United States) comes directly from John Winthrop’s “A Modell of Christian Charity” and was inspired by the Christian scripture, Matthew 5:14?

Mudslinging is the last refuge of the truly hapless, helpless and hopeless. It is a tactic favored by scoundrels and weasels. Sadly, it also invites retaliation in kind and any such retaliation will invariably be unkind. To wit: McCain’s entry into political life as a member of The Keating Five; his marital infidelity and spousal abandonment in favor of a younger, uncrippled, decidedly richer heiress; Cindy’s father’s business association (and the founding of the McCain fortune) with a Mafia-linked business partner; Cindy’s drug addiction and drug conviction resulting in the court-ordered dismantling of a medical charity miss-used as a front for phony, illegal prescriptions; McCain’s health issues and four bouts with melanoma (was it stage 2A or B?); increasingly bizarre and erratic behavior by a septuagenarian candidate (incipient Alzheimer’s) or merely senior moments?); medical cover-up?; McCain a compulsive gambler accepting perks and favors from that lobby?; tax issues w/ Palin failure to report per diem income; Palin Trooper-gate issue; Palin “witchcraft” prayer protection service at Wasilla Assembly of God; Palin children’s behavior in general (lots of allegations and rumors, none of which should be anybody’s d**n business); Palin’s taking a per diem and charging the taxpayers of Alaska for every night spent in her own home, as if it were a Motel 6; Palin’s book banning/burning activities as mayor; Palin’s intellectual fitness to serve and be a sick, 72 year old heartbeat removed from the presidency; etc., etc., etcetera.
It’s ugly folks anyway you look at it! It’s always wrong and NEVER appropriate. It’s tawdry, unseemly, unwarranted and unwonted in the political process. It besmirches the target and the mudslinger himself/herself. And… it cuts both ways. Both parties CAN do it. Up and until now only one has been so desperate as to stoop to it. Let us not open this can of worms lest we soon find them crawling all over us!

Wouldn’t it be fun if Obama did get in because of McCains lies? What if Obama really looked at what Bush did in the last eight years and prosocuted?
How about seizing the ill gotten goods that Bush and Cheney and Rove made in the last eight year. What would the country say about jail time for all of em? How about the world, if they knew we actually held politicians legally responsible for the heinous crime they commit?
Wow. Might even turn things around.

Can you believe the Repeblican Party thought women were so stupid that choosing that ignorant dits would draw the female vote. She can’t even manage her own family and we expect her to manage the United States. She needs to stay home and pay more attention to her children and maybe her seventeen year old daughter wouldn’t be pregnant and forced into a shotgun wedding. Palling around with terrorists as Obama does is a serious criminal act

who would want their own children to become liars, thieves like Obama

The Constition of the United States of America cannot be saved by liars, crooks and criminals like Obama and his gang.

Yes palling around with terrorist is not light matter, democratics have to grow up and stop horsing around with serious matters. If you want to destroy our youth just shot them, don’t lie to them about Obama

179. seeker | 10.17.08

I am so sick of McCain, Palin and the RNC. They are going to divide this country with such statements about “palling around with terrorists”. To make that statement, you have to conclude that there are a host of many others who are are also guilty by association.

One, you have to say that all the other people on that board, republicans included, were palling around with terrorists.

You have to also say that the former Reagan ambassidor who started the board was palling around with terrorists.

You then have to say that the President and heads of Chicago University are palling around with terrorists.

You then have to say that every professor at Chicag University is palling around with terrorsits. And then Ayers students for all these years were palling around with terrorists.

It just doesn’t fly people. And then we have Accorn where Obama is also guilty by association. Well that means that McCain is also guilty since he, just two years ago, gave a key note speach at Accorn and stated “What’s great about America is people like you”.

You can’t just pick and choose who you are going to point the finger at but give others a free pass when they had the same interaction as the one your blaming. It makes me sick!
