Palin on Saturday Night Live? You betcha’
By Jimmy Orr | 10.10.08
Maybe this is the super secret October surprise. Sarah Palin goes on Saturday Night Live and gives the Republican ticket a shot in the arm. And Lorne Michaels, single-handedly, gives the McCain campaign a victory in November.
Perhaps McCain strategist Steve Schmidt met with Karl Rove and Michaels in Dick Cheney’s secret bunker and they hatched the plan.
No confirmation from the McCain-Palin campaign so far, but the comedy prospects just seem too tempting to pass up. With all the watercooler talk about Tina Fey’s spot-on impersonation of the Republican nominee for vice president, it will mean great ratings for the network. And it sure couldn’t hurt the McCain campaign.
She’s doing it
The New York Post is reporting that Palin’s appearance on Oct. 25 is signed, sealed, and delivered.
Soccer moms and Joe Sixpacks, listen up. Get your beer, mooseburgers and caribou dips ready. Sarah Palin is doing “Saturday Night Live.” Not Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin doing “Saturday Night Live.” But the Sarah Herself.
She has already OK’d it. She’s booked. It’s confirmed. Done deal. Sketches are being sketched as we speak. She - eyeglasses, haircomb, designer jacket and trunkful of gosh-darns, golly-gees and gol-dangs - will be on “SNL” Saturday night, Oct. 25. Sarah’s rehearsal time has already been penciled in for Friday the 24th. And it’s because she wants to do it.
Palin’s a fan
That last sentence is definitely true. She told reporters earlier this week that she wanted to go on the show and meet her highly regarded impersonator, Tina Fey.
“I love her [Fey], she’s a hoot and she’s so talented,” Palin said. “It would be fun to meet her and keep on giving her new material.”
Many would argue that meeting Fey is not requisite in providing new material. All she has to do is stay on the ticket for that. Regardless, the comedic prospects are high.
Last night
There was hope that Palin might show up last night in a special Thursday night edition of SNL. Didn’t happen. But viewers instead got to see one of the original “not ready for prime time players,” Bill Murray.
The show featured a parody of Tuesday night’s presidential debate. Both candidates were fair game. Perhaps the funniest portion of the skit came when McCain (played by Darrell Hammond) drifted aimlessly around the set walking in front of the camera when Obama (played by Fred Armisen) was answering a question.
Bill Ayers
Obama (Armisen) later revealed a relationship with the co-founder of the radical Weather Underground group that many diehard McCain supporters undoubtedly believe is factual.
SNL Obama called Bill Ayers, “my best friend and my mentor. He told the crowd, “I’m telling you this because I’m so far ahead in the polls now, it’s not going to matter.”
The other race
Speaking of the real Barack Obama, we reported this morning that he bought 30 minutes of network TV time at a pretty hefty price to get his message out.
It’ll be interesting to see who wins this ratings race. Our guess? Palin in a landslide.

Funny–I wonder how the cast really feels about Palin coming on to their show. Also makes me wonder if they will crucify her in front of the national audience

So what if Palin (good for a laugh) appears on SNL…I betcha it’ll be on tape so she won’t have to hear first-hand all the boos from the audience! Too bad her appearance isn’t on Hallowe’en. We’ve already heard that life imitated art when a while back Palin supposedly dressed up as Tina Fey on Oct. 31!
If Palin appears on SNL and gives the Republicans a boost, then Obama will have to rescheduled his cancelled appearance and go on the last SNL before the election to give the Democrats a last-minute boost to ensure they win the White House! Go Barack!
5. J.Jay | 10.10.08
If they are pitted against each other, than NO. But if they are aired on separate date or time, Palin is getting landslide.
6. Dave | 10.10.08
It’ll be interesting to see if this actually happens if Palin continues being the hatemonger she’s shown herself to be over the last week or so.

Bill Murray was not an original SNL Not Ready for Prime Time Player, he joined in the second year when Chevy Chase quit.

If it weren’t for Ms. Palin’s increasingly venomous attacks on Obama’s character, it might be appropriate for her to host SNL. But hate isn’t funny, and having her host SNL might seem to condone an increasingly malicious campaign–largely consisting, now, of character assassination, as desperation drives the McCain/Palin campaign toward the Dark Side. Ms. Palin has a gift for putting a pretty face on some rather vile slander, and I don’t think she should be granted this form to spread her poison–a forum generally associated with comedic goodwill.
12. Zorak | 10.10.08
Yes, SNL has been a significant part of pop culture and has probably had an effect on politics throughout the years… But, what really needs to happen is : Space Ghost Coast to Coast (to coast to coast to coasts etc). I want to see how McCain and Obama react to serious questions from the best talk show host of all time. I have a feeling McCain would act like Jeff Foxworthy did when interviewed.
13. GG | 10.10.08
This is disgusting. Featuring the hate mongering Palin. No way I want this woman anywhere near the Whitehouse. I have watched her speeches with growing horror and won’t be watching this garbage.
14. John H. Holder | 10.10.08
Very interested in purchasing any/all videoes or CDs of Tina Fey’s
impersonations of Sarah Palin[i.e.,on “Saturday Night Live”]. Kindly advise ASAP.
16. midwestmidwife | 10.10.08
Agreed with #9, Steve. I urge everyone who is concerned about the attacks- the hate-filled messages and fear mongering to contact your state senators and say “no more, please denounce this type of campaign!” This is not the America that has progressed, come out of the fearful times of the 60’s of Joe McCarthy, of KKK…this is hurtling us back and preying on the darker side of human nature. You can also go directly on McCain/Palin campaign site and e-mail your concerns. The US Senator sites have been busy most of the day with Americans speaking out against their tactics. This is not what an American hero does…Shame on you, Senator McCain!! Bring up questions in a legitimate forum, perhaps to a person’s face but this slander and fear incitement can only lead to illwill and worse.
17. Paul | 10.10.08
What else can Palin do besides “pretend” to go with the joke. Tina Fey’s performance is genius and i do believe it damaged the McWar/Palin ticket. In the early days it was political cartoons now this is the new vehicle to parody the crooked government. I wish SNL would not give Palin a chance to be on this great show but i am sure there was pressure put on the Producers. I think wayne and garth can see russia from their backyard so maybe they can run for Vice President too!
18. L. Wallace | 10.10.08
If she does show up, at least she will be in her own natural element: Making a fool of herself and saying things that are gosh darn funny without even intending to do so. If people think she’s qualified and use this venue to vote for her, this country is in worse shape than I thought.
19. Mongo | 10.10.08
Whoa baby!…. You Palin Haters need to take a breath of air and consider the man you support. He hates the USA, He personally said he will side with the muslims if push comes to shove, he disrespected all Veterans when he recklessly tossed a rose onto the grave of the Unknown Soldier (you DON’T DO THAT) rather than gently laying it there. He has little experience other than missing key votes so as not to have to make a decision. When he was there to vote, he answered with “Present” rather than yea or Nay. His preacher is a commie racist, his wife is a CFR racist that FINALLY is proud of the USA because they nominated her husband. Obama hangs out with terrorists. Shall I go on?
Yes, McCain is nutz, Palin is a blind hawk, and frankly, I think they all suck. But please don’t get all high and mighty about the moslem you are worshipping. If you were educated, you would already know that Ron Paul was the man to lead us out of the dark.
Idiots everywhere I look.
20. Deke | 10.10.08
Wishful thinking … by bloggers and Republicans but highly unlikely. SNL uses people, they don’t let people use them.
21. eblair | 10.10.08
it cannot get more absurd than Palin playing her idiotic self and people loving her. Obviously the public perception of political office is so low that “Joe six-pacK’ actually thinks the idea of putting a creationist airhead one heartbeat away from the nuclear button is a great idea!
22. brownshk12 | 10.10.08
It’s a comedy show, they do comedy. If Palin goes on, let’s hope she’s funny. If it was me, I’d introduce Tina Fey, and then have Palin come on and do a Tina Fey impersonation. Now that would be funny.
23. Andrew | 10.10.08
Palin has NOTHING to lose in appearing on SNL. She’s preparing for her future in Hollywood! McCain can pack up and retire in his 9 homes…
24. bartstarr | 10.10.08
Sarah Palin has the most down-to-earth experience among the four candidates.
She was the only one who boldly told the debate audience to live within your means. And she knows how to stretch the family budget and put food on the table.
What she doesn’t know right now, she’ll learn quickly. Obama has a headstart becuase he has been campaigning for president since he was eight years old.
I have consistently vote for the Democratic tickets in the past. Not this time because I ‘m voting for Governor Palin’s ticket. The only one who will truly challenge Washington and Wall Street.
25. LI2FL2NC | 10.10.08
Palin on SNL = “Jumping the Shark”
Palin is just “Bush in a skirt” (now that can go MANY ways). As a woman, I’m embarrassed by her “Pageantry”. Yeah, let her be Governor of Alaska - how could she POSSIBLY screw up that state? VP? I’d move to Canada, but she’ll see my house from her’s.
26. Chad | 10.10.08
It’s not hate-mongering or scare tactics if there’s truth behind it. Every “claim” that has been made is backed up with hard evidence. Just because you all drank the Obama Kool Aid and are blindly marching behind the Anointed One doesn’t mean the rest of us will turn a blind eye to his lack of discretion. Also, if he’s so steadfast in his Christian (or Muslim–he said it, not me) faith, why hasn’t he denounced all of the “Messiah” talk and comparisons? I would think one so supposedly strong in his faith would abhor such a comparison to his Savior.
27. Annie | 10.10.08
If this is true, it’s a travesty. It removes all the satire from what SNL has been doing and it becomes purely partisan - and so close to the election: terrible! Placing this dangerous Palin in any humorous light will only serve to delude viewers into thinking she is just funny, when in fact, she and McCain pose great risk to this country. I had not watched SNL for many years because I didn’t think it was funny anymore but I had renewed interest when Tina Fey began “doing” Palin. If Palin “joins in the fun”, it’s something else and I won’t watch. For truly brilliant, funny, original, witty satire watch Stephen Colbert.
28. Scared? | 10.10.08
I don’t like Palin… but i would take a bulldog with lipstick over a Wannabe Marxist. I would just like to point out that last time we elected a DEM after a crash… he Nationalized private bank accounts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_American_internment
“The bill also gave the Secretary of the Treasury the authority to confiscate the gold of private citizens, in exchange for an equivalent amount of paper currency which was subject to later devaluation with relation to gold.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_Banking_Act
Then he made the social security, and if you are reading this… more than likely you will pay into that for life, and not get anything.
He inturned American Citizens, and placed them in prison camps.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_American_internment
and he ran for president FOUR times! giving us almost 16 yeas of bad choices…
Do you really want a DEM in office now?
i don’t.
29. Jerry Peragine | 10.10.08
Palin’s a natural, has a great sense of humor, and will go over well with the cast and the audience. If she stands side-by-side with Tina Fey it will be to Fey’s disadvantage - there’s nothing like the real thing, baby.
30. Jerry Peragine | 10.10.08
By the way, pretty funny disclaimer at the bottom of the page here, that “we will not publish any comments that we regard as defamatory”; I wonder just how vicious the comments about Palin would have to be to rise to the defamatory level for the Christian Science people.
31. Chad | 10.10.08
It’s not hate- or fear-mongering if it’s true. There is hard evidence to back up every “claim” that has been made. Just because you all drank the Obama Kool Aid and are committed to following your shepherd, the rest of us refuse to turn a blind eye to his lack of discretion. I don’t see any of you striking out against the media outlets such as the New York Times or CNN that have relayed the Ayers and ACORN stories, only at Palin. How convenient. You bloody libs preach your “fairness” all you want while you spew your venom and double standards.
Speaking of double standards, if Obama is so steadfast in his Christian (or Muslim–he said it, I didn’t) faith, why has he not denounced all of the “Messiah” comparisons and rhetoric? I would think that a devout Christian would abhor such comparisons to his Savior. Maybe Obama’s ego won’t allow him to think of himself as any less. That would actually explain a lot. All of the times that he has decided to change his story or opinions on a whim, and all of the lies he has been able to tell without thinking twice about it. Only a narcissist of his caliber could execute such transgressions against the American people.
But go ahead, vote for him. It won’t matter. The polls are cooked and the campaign knows it. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be campaigning in swing states, he’d be trying to sway the red states.
32. independant Joe | 10.10.08
Although is is truly sad to see tactics such as McCain is using to hang on it is really nothing new. American campaigns have always been full of this sort of behavior. From both major parties. When such great power is at stake the worst of humanity is always revealed. It is truly hard to fathom how a veteran politician with a rich history of service was not confident that his steady leadership and record alone would win out in the end. I do not believe Mccain needed to do this to win. In fact it may be his undoing…………. I am still undecided but I will turn away from John if his campaign continues to throw around attacks without providing CONCRETE evidence. Smoking guns mean nothing. Show me the proof positive and I will believe! And oh yeah. What will a President Mcain SPECIFICALLY do to unite us!
33. Josh | 10.10.08
…”I wish to god this was a joke. SNL is making a huge mistake and taking far to large a part in the Presidential Race.
I feel so ashamed that people are willing to vote for Palin, and I’m sure some will vote for her because she makes this appearance.
She has virtually no understanding of National or Foreign politics beyond what her advisers tell her,”…
So when SNL is either fair in their belittlement of political parties, or maybe even shows a republican in a decent light, they are taking too large a part in the race?
Are you serious? Have you missed the last two elections? Or is it only ok if SNL favors democrats like in the last two elections? SNL has been heavily left leaning for some time. The truth is that Palin is good TV - she draws large audiences, whether they love her or hate her.
I love that lefties riot about free speech until someone speaks out against them - then it has to be censured.
34. david | 10.10.08
wow Chris, its so funny how people like you actually believe that a black kid from chicago who went to Harvard on Affirmative Action who has served less than two years in the US senate knows so much more than Palin. Oh yeah maybe he does… he’s had about a year of coaching from his team of 300 foreign policy advisors spoon feeding lil’ obamas silver tongue. Your arguments are only fairly decent when you put Palin at the top of the ticket and ignore that there is a man on the top of Repub ticket who is light years ahead of your little man on the top of yours. Palin isn’t running for president and don’t pull out your “if McCain dies” ****. In that case, Biden is less desireable. He had his chance at running for #1 and the AMerican people DIDN’T WANT HIM. He got so few votes it was a joke. McCain is better qualified, has proven his love for our country, and is not afraid to stand up to friends and foes alike to do whats the best for our country. Your little boy hasn’t stood up to anyone.
36. Annie | 10.10.08
I don’t think most of you that have replied are any better than the remarks you make about others. Are you jealous?? Chalk up a lot of what is said in a campaign to politics. It always has been and most likely will always be taking jabs at others. Come on and get off your high horses. You just might fall hard when McCain/Palin win.
Check out this site and take the test to see if you really do agree with all of Obama’s viewpoints for us. It is a non-biased site. Socialism is a-coming to us voting for Obama. He couldn’t make it in the Illinois Senate (without destroying his competition) what makes you think he can make it to president. Polls are just that - Polls. People will say anything.
37. L. Wallace | 10.10.08
Bartstarr,
It’s not the audience who needs to be told to live within their budgets.
It’s the federal government. How much debt are we (the US0 in?
38. midwestmidwife | 10.10.08
“Only a narcissist of his caliber could execute such transgressions against the American people.” strange statement, are you an American??
this is off the subject of SNL and Palin, but I am interested to know what about the ‘bearing false witness’ of McCain’s in calling Obama the Messiah. It really didn’t require a reply from Obama. McCain was the one at fault to have made the insinuation. It did not dignify a response. Who bore false witness against his neighbor?
Chad: Judge ye not, lest ye be judged.
39. James | 10.10.08
Pretty sad Palin is too pressed for time to do more than a few interviews over several months, but hey, no schedule is too busy to go on an entertainment program. McCain/Palin is a travesty.
40. Rico | 10.10.08
Oh come on. It’ll be funny. That’s the point of SNL. I don’t really care if the appearance furthers your own political agenda, and neither does Lorne Michaels.
Tina Fey has already done incalculable damage to the McCain/Palin ticket. If Palin get a bit back showing she can take it all in stride, good for her. I’m voting Obama, too, but that doesn’t mean I think every TV show in town has to prop up my worldview.
41. Tim | 10.10.08
My god people! can you make a bigger deal out a comedy show known for it’s political satire towards all parties and people?????
Is Palin a fool? sure but come on people SNL is not some political force for the Republican Party if anything it could be argued it does more in favor of the Democrats.
Sometimes I think the real problem we face as a society is our ability to make something huge out of nothing at all. Our ability to over react, panic and ignore facts while embracing fiction, slander and lible (from all parties) will only further sink our country into darkness.
42. Whoa | 10.10.08
Is it coincidental that Beverly Hills Chiuaua is number one in the box office? With opinions like the above, I think not.
43. OffTopic SortOf | 10.10.08
Anybody that says they “were” going to vote for Barack Obama but now that Palin is running they are voting for McCain is lying or doesn’t have a clue why they vote. Loren Michaels is a McCain supporter and is willing to put Palin on to help him get elected. Palin has never gotten over 100,000 votes for anything in her life. Obama got over 20 million just in the primaries.
These states that vote republican are almost always welfare states such as Alaska. There is no doubt that Obama (and both of my dogs) are more intelligent than Palin. She has been the mayor of a town of 5,000 people and the governor of a state of 500,000 people, for 2 years.
Republicans were saying Obama didn’t have enough experience to be President but suddenly Palin has enough experience to be President? Hmmm. People in Alaksa like Palin for the same reason that all people in welfare states like their leaders, she gave them more money that they didn’t earn.
44. murray | 10.10.08
I believe I will not be watching SNL or 30 Rock anymore this year. In order to have her on the show, she will be trying to show “she Is Only Human” when anyone who has heard her hatred and Stupidity comming out of her mouth this paqst month will understand she is anything but Human.
45. jansy | 10.10.08
I can’t believe that SNL would do this, please say it isn’t true! What a huge mistake that will only help the McCain camp.
46. Mary | 10.10.08
The second time in a month Sarah Palin has demonstrated her cluelessness about her own state’s energy situation… she thinks Congress is banning the export of Alaskan oil.

47. Domingo Tavella | 10.10.08
If Americans voluntarily and freely elect to have someone as Sarah Palin in the White House, then they will fully deserve their highly probable Third World status.
It is indeed astonishing that after eight years of utter corruption and disdain for justice, knowledge, science, and decency someone with the characteristics of Sarah Palin should enjoy the degree of popularity she does.
It is even more startling that eruptions of blatant racism occur so openly, both at McCain-Palin rallies and during debates and nobody seems to notice - it takes the British press to even suggest that something like this happens.
There was no visible response from the black or white communities to McCain’s clearly racist and extraordinarily disrespectful “that one” angry remark.
If McCain-Palin get elected (their chances are much higher than polls would suggest) life in the US will become increasingly more like in a third world nation’s, where blind ideologies and passions rule over reason and understanding.
48. denise | 10.10.08
Go Sarah! Its just so hard to believe that grown adults act like grade school children when it comes to politics. Hating someone they don’t know, just because they stand up for what they believe in. So childish…..
49. Shawn, San Diego | 10.10.08
Open letter to SNL:
I wanted to voice my extreme disappointment in SNL for allowing Palin to potentially be a participant in your October 25th addition of SNL. Palin is in effect cherry picking events to get the most bang without having to answer real questions about her knowledge or foundation. Worse yet you are allowing a stage for a person who has spent the last week straight inciting fear, hatred, and potential violence by claiming that Obama ( a husband and father of two young girls) is “Palling around with terrorist” and “not like us”; getting their followers to yell statements like “kill him” and “Terrorist”. All this from a little known person who has been found today to be abusing her own power in Alaska.
It would be shameful to offer SNL’s rich and historical stage with this shameless individual; allowing her gain at all of our loss.
Please reconsider your choice.

I’m addresing #18: Maybe YOU need to look the facts. I am an independent and have been trying to look at ALL the facts. I’ve done my research and at least have not come to the ignorant conclusion that Obama is a Muslim. And just because Obama’s pastor said some pretty idiotic stuff does it mean Obama is also an idiot. Similarly, Cindy McCain was a pill-popper and that doesn’t mean McCain is one also–and he is married to her! So enough of the ignorance. Get yourself educated and don’t just believe the first thing you hear. As far as Palin is concerned, if she has “international” experience, then so do all the Olympians who have competed internationally. Obviously that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but does she? Doi.
51. Keith | 10.10.08
I’m actually glad that SNL is willing to balance it a little bit. They are historically so liberal. I cannot believe that people are voting for someone who has never made a hard decision in his life. He supported ACORN strongly and that organization is what has us in our current mess.
Palin has at least been in a position of the buck stops here in Alaska. Has had to make tough decisions.
52. Sheri | 10.10.08
SNL is acting inappropriately and too close to the Election.
No matter the party it is simply BAD TIMING.
I looked for the petition going around to send SNL but only came across a few posts, does it exist? They must cancel this ridiculous appearance. Especially now that she has been accused of “abuse of power”.
SNL is now endorsing her by having her as a guest.
After the Election another story……
53. Him | 10.11.08
To the poster who said “And she knows how to stretch the family budget and put food on the table.” Are you kidding me? Are you that brainwashed? She is NOT average “josy” six pack making minimum wage. You really think that Palins have to worry about paying their bills? Get real.
54. Obama Supporter | 10.11.08
All of this Palin hate just goes to prove how sexist this campaign has become. I read some of these comments from very uninformed people that are making character assassinations without the added asset of intelligence.
Palin doing SNL is no worse than my candidate dancing on Degeneres. Stop being so sexist…we should have run Hillary.
55. Flower Power | 10.11.08
Wow. The hate is really thick against the lovely Sarah Palin on this “Christian” Science Monitor website. Reminds me of when I lived in San Francisco.
56. Lou | 10.11.08
I consider myself a feminist, and I have worked while I raised my kids, but I really question the wisdom of a woman who has a daughter who needs her attention as she gives birth at such a young age, and has a baby who has special needs, taking the job of Vice President of the United States. It is a very selfish act. Her children need her full attention during this time of their lives, and the American people need a Vice President who will give his/her full attention to the job. It’s hard enough with a “normal” job to meet your children’s needs, much less a job like that. I can’t believe the conservatives are okay with that. And if he dies, and she has to take the reins, OMG! I mean come ON, America. You can’t be serious. I mean REALLY YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS. We know very little about her. We know she is attractive, and winks a lot and says golly a lot, and knows how to shoot a rifle. Oh, and says a lot of hateful things while flashing a big smile. I can’t believe this is a possibility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The American people are surely smarter than this. Oh that’s right, they RE-ELECTED Bush, didn’t they?
57. PJ | 10.11.08
Really? Obama is bringing Socialism to America? We’re finally going to join the other civilized nations of the world? Thank God! I wish I’d known about that sooner. Thanks for the tip. It makes my decision so much easier. By the way, I think Tina Fey would be a great Vice President. Or President for that matter.
58. Thom Rutledge | 10.11.08
Given recent developments — venomous expressions of hate (”kill him,” “terrorist,”etc) — at both McCain and Palin rallies, it is completely irresponsible for SNL to have Palin on as a guest unless she publicly renounces these expressions of hatred. Neither Governor Palin, nor Senator McCain have objected to what has been said. Strange, but true: we have come to depend on our comedians (i.e. John Stewart, Stephen Cobert, Bill Mahr) to be our political watch dogs. I hope to God that Loren Michaels and Company are not so focused on ratings that they become complicit in this hate mongering.
59. Roberta Peters | 10.11.08
I urge everyone who wants an Obama victory to barrage “Saturday Night Live” creator/producer Lorne Michaels with letters and e-mails urging him not to cast Sarah Palin on the show, and to further state that if he does go ahead and do so, you will boycott his show, its DVDs, and its commercial sponsors for perpetuity, and that you will advise all your friends to do so as well.
We need to send a mass email chain letter all over the net about this.
Isn’t his production company “Broadway Video”?
60. milo | 10.11.08
You know I’m fine if Sarah Palin goes on SNL…IF SNL keeps its end of the bargain up, i.e., they need to skewer her on live TV like Stephen Colbert skewered George W. Bush at the corespondent’s dinner. No free passes.
61. Janice Wilson | 10.11.08
I hate to admit it but McCain and Palin are liars. There’s no doubt Palin was caught red handed! The McCain campaign prides itself on straight talk and while inquiring “Who is the real Barack Obama?”. Maybe they can answer the question, who is the real Sarah Palin? The GOP has two candidates in the General Election with questionable judgement and temperment. This should have been the second time Sarah Palin was found guilty of Abuse of Power. The first time was when she demanded her teenage daughter to marry her boyfriend before the media realized she was pregnant. Coming from a female Republican, Sarah Palin was a horrible choice to put on the ticket. I’m removing my McCain-Palin 08 sign from my lawn. Sorry John McCain you lost my support.
62. Terry | 10.11.08
Although I feel it is wrong to help the McCain/Palin ticket keep in mind that Lorne Michaels is Canadian so he really doesn’t care about who you vote for, he’s just after ratings for his show which has received 49% more viewers since Tina Fey started doing Sarah Palin impressions. Getting them on the show together will be huge ratings. The fact that all the cast members make over $250,000 a year and are STILL voting for Obama should tell you something though. They obviously love America enough to not be blinded by skin color or by the sad campaign strategy taken on by the McCain/Palin camp and are voting with the Country’s best interest at heart.

I’ve been a fan of SNL since it first arrived on the national scene.
But I swear, if they put Sarah Palin front and center on their program I will never watch it again.
The woman is a disgrace not just to politics and intelligence, but to decency and truthfulness.
64. Mcg | 10.11.08
There have many posts and an ad taken out in the Village Voice calling for rolling protests during SNL on Oct. 25th. It’s funny that she won’t do an interview but she will go in front of a NY city hostile audience. America may be laughing at her and not with her.
65. independant Joe | 10.11.08
I am glad Sen. McCain finally made at least a small step to stem these angry and ill informed
outbursts and opinions. He should continue this improvement. With his many years of service to the US one might ask why he doesn’t simply hammer away with his SPECIFIC proposals on the different issues we face. With his experience he should be able to explain his agenda in far greater detail than Sen. Obama. No need to be so negative. John can take back the lead. There is enough time left. He has his base support already. He is the one who has a record of pushing for unity. PUSH HARDER John. You are so much better than you have acted lately. Negativity divides. Honesty unites. Get us all on the same page and you will be President. The Mccain I admire has been absent for months. PLEASE COME BACK!
66. MCaulfield | 10.11.08
It’s strange how Republican Palin doesn’t receive the same respect as her Democrat counterparts — Gerladine Ferraro, Nancy Pelosi, and Hillary Clinton. The media is so radical that they would portray Palin as the devil and the leftist, socialist female pigs as the saviors of femininity. Sarah is not perfect, but at least she would never sell out our country to socialism.
America isn’t voting FOR McCain/Palin…they’re voting AGAINST Barack Obama/Biden and their track record of radicalism. Robbing from the rich and giving to the poor doesn’t work. The Democrats, headed by Barney Frank, Senator Dodd and Reid, engineered the lending to unqualified poor people and then forced the tax payers to bail them out. Bush’s hands were tied, yet he and Phil Gramm get the blame. Do you think the Republicans could create this crisis by themselves — no, because the Congress is controlled by Dummy-crats.
67. OnActiveDuty | 10.11.08
I don’t mind SNL putting S.Palin onstage. No doubt it MAY win her some votes but I don’t really care about that. Its a free country as they say and if SNL wants to put her on so be it. But I voting for Barrack Obama this year.
The Repubs have lost the right to govern our country when they unillaterally invaded a soveriegn nation under false pretenses which cost the lives of thousands of Americans servicemen/women and crippled and maimed tens of thousands, arrested and “detained” thousands of people and sent them to secret prisons where they were tortured and denied their basic human rights to equal protection under the law.
I could mention the civilian casualties here, but I think most of my countrymen don’t honestly care about foreign kids. McCain is a veteran, but that doesn’t in itself make him qualified or the best candidate.
The best candidate is the one who will make a committment to ending these wars, turning the security of these countries over to their own governments and bringing our soldiers home to their families as quickly as possible. McCain is not the man to do that.
Barrack was right not to trust the Bush Administration when it asked for congressional approval for the use of force. Most congressmen believed it to be a bargaining chip (big stick diplomacy) but Barrack forsaw that the Bush white house would use that approval as carte blance to start a war, even when the UN inspectors said they couldn’t find any evidence of WMD. Barrack proved his sound judgement AND strength or character by voting his conscience that day. He gets my vote.
pss. Please don’t respond to this if you are going to spout nonsense about Obama being a Muslim, or palling around with terrorists or basically any of the BS thats been coming from Palin lately. Be assured I HAVE done my homework and know the biographies of both candidates pretty well.
68. Jo Ann | 10.11.08
Sarah Palin was a character on SNL because she is a joke. The last Tina Fey - Couric sketch essentially quoted what Palin actually said. So why would SNL do this. Are ratings that important that they would elevate this woman and help the McCain camp. I guess they are. What a shame. I thought it was the youth that still held on to their beliefs and stuck to them and as we got older we compromise more, so I watched the first SNL and through the years went back and forth, watched it in between raising three children and working and changes in my life, but it would appear that this 50 something woman has more character than the 30 somethings of today. What a shame.
69. DODGEBOY | 10.11.08
First of all, Sarah palin is more than qualified to lead our country, God forbid anything would happpen to John McCain, and far more qualified than Barack. Joe Biden is far more qualified than Barack. Second, what expierence has Barack had other than running for public office, which he has done for two of the three years he’s been in office. He and his wife both have questionable ethics about patrism, friends, religion and for accepting favors (i.e. a huge house in Chicago?). What can you say against John McCain, Sarah Palin or Joe Biden…absolutely nothing. Biden and McCain have both dedicated their life to our country; Barack can’t even lift his right hand to his heart during the pledge. Voting for Barack for President is almost the same thing as voting for Paris Hilton for the same office…people love to associate themselves with celebrities, small narrow minded people.
70. Jo Ann | 10.11.08
To number 66 on active duty, first of all thank you, I can’t even imagine how hard this is for given that we have found out that this country was lied to and the real victims are our service men and women and the people of Iraq. I hope this God this ends the way we both want it to. I beleive that the only chance this country has is to vote the Obama/Biden ticket. I don’t know why I am surprised that this is election is getting uglier and uglier, when a coward is cornered they fight dirty, so my husband is upstairs yelling at youtube videos because more and more people now think that obama is a terrorist. Read the latest issue of Rolling Stones, McCain article. The quotes of not from “terrorists”, they are from former POW’s that were with him, and Republicans that served along with him. This is dangerous. The republicans know how to scare people, and we are all afraid now, 911 has become a trademark, and I’m from NYC, so don’t tell me what happened that day. I resent it. I lived through it. My children lived through it. And I am not afraid, so why should someone in hicksville usa be afraid. Fear has crippled this country, it’s crippled our economics our education, every aspect of our daily lives, and this fear is fueld by lies. So God speed Obama, I have no idea why anyone would want this job, but American at it’s darkest times has always had someone come up and take us back into the light and it is you. So I am grateful. To #66, stay safe.
71. William | 10.11.08
I would love to see a REAl debate between Palin and Obama… she would shred him…. he says so many profoundly idiotic things, presuming his supporters are too stupid to check the facts…
72. mark martinez | 10.11.08
Lorne Michaels, desperate for ratings now wants to help someone who has demonstrated they are clearly unfit for office. Good comedy should have some aspect of truth, otherwise how are we going to laugh. Seems he’s committed to helping Palin with her racism and disinformation…didn’t you get enough of that the last eight years? Of course this is a decision consistent with SNL’s ill considered bigoted sketches aimed at Latinos, and specifically Mexican Americans.
I loved SNL for years, but enough is enough. They aren’t that funny anymore. Actually, if it wasn’t for this political campaign they wouldn’t have much of an audience, however, Tina Fey is great but she’s not a part of the cast anymore. I’ll watch her and then put on the movie.
73. Classic Coke | 10.11.08
Hysterical to read leftists in an uproar over the possibility that Palin will appear on SNL, particularly on the heels of them gleefully frothing over Fey’s impressions for weeks now. But, the minute SNL doesn’t tote their line, it’s a crime!
Forget SNL, leftists are utterly humorous and a great source of entertainment.
74. YeahWhatever | 10.11.08
Well gosh darn it! Palins goin’ on SNN! My friends, I truely hope she SCREWS UP! Not only is this a chance for some real comedy, but the less people scared away from her stupidness the better!

All of this Palin hate just goes to prove how sexist this campaign has become. I read some of these comments from very uninformed people that are making character assassinations without the added asset of intelligence.
Palin doing SNL is no worse than my candidate dancing on Degeneres. Stop being so sexist…we should have run Hillary.”
The attacks against Palin are NOT sexist. However, to suggest that Hillary should have been run because she is a woman IS.
I am a huge Hillary supporter and voted for her during the primary. B

To put a hate-monger that is searching for “her” public platform to spread her venom–this is absolutely wrong. She should not get any opportunity that the other 3 in the race would not be offered. Bring’ em all on, or none.
A person running for office to appear is one thing, but someone who is clearly the most deadly kind of Christian is another. And I am a Christian.
Please, please tell your friends to write Lorne Michaels and tell him that you will boycott his show, DVD, etc., and will encourage all your friends, co-workers and acquaintances to do the same.
Indeed, this is blasphemous.

It’s sad that votes have come down to meaningless agendas like who can pander to a TV crowd instead of who understands our nation’s state of affairs. Palin is completely unpatriotic and reminds one of a completely unqualified job applicant who knows nothing else than to use a lot of buzzwords to try to snow the reviewers. How can the governor of the last American wild frontier be so aggressive in killing wild wolves and destroying the unique habitat of majestic animals like polar bears? She cares nothing for America’s resources, only about using any tactics she must to put herself in a position that she can take advantage of getting her six-figure government salary for sitting at home with the problematic family she created and running her mouth constantly without actually saying anything.
She is a crook, a liar, and an embarrassment to women. What the heck goes on in Alaska that someone who is unqualified to be a human-being, much less a government official, can be voted in as governor of such a naturally beautiful state?
P.S. The Talibunny link in post #74 is hysterical.
82. CME | 10.11.08
From 1981 and the so-called Reagan Revolution, through the Iran Contra Affair, Bush 41s disastrous term, the Gingrich years, the hoax perpetrated by the “Moral” Majority and “Christian” Coalition, myself and other Americans have been told we are weak, unpatriotic, American-hating, elitist, godless, and worse. So here were are at the sunset of the Bush Administration (which was supposed to represent, in the words of Karl Rove, the end of the Democratic party for a generation). The economy is on the brink of collapse and we have become all but paralyzed on the world stage by our disastrous foreign policy . . . and the Republicans see that they are losing their grip on the minds of the electorate. The only reaction to their own hubris they can muster is to spread utterly ridiculous lies and thinly veiled racist invective about the man who will in all likelihood take them down. It’s really sad, but fitting. I, for one, have no empathy. Shut up and take it. You’ve been force-feeding it to the rest of the country for too long. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen. As for Palin’s appearance on SNL . . . as much joy as that show brings to my life, if she appears I’ll never watch again.
83. johny rico | 10.11.08
Won’t the NYC audience totally destroy her on stage? I wouldn’t be shocked to see her boo’d off. She was a joke to them before the last week, where she has become a monster. If they really think this is going to help then let them put her on. It’s going to be funny but not how they expect.
84. Carol Allenill | 10.11.08
How can so many people hate a woman they don’t even know. She has more executive experience than any of the candidates. Do you forget Bill Clinton had no foreign policy experience either as a governer. How can Obama lovers be so filled with hatred when Obama practically invented the word hate…OBAMA HATE THE USA…HATES THE FREEDOM THAT OUR COUNTRY STANDS FOR…HATES THE RIGHT TO WORK YOUR WAY TO THE TOP FROM NOTHING (UNLESS IT’S HIM) AND THEN PAY FOR ALL THOSE WHO DON’T.
John McCain and Sarah Palin have more honesty and patriotism than Obama will ever have in his little finger.
85. SteveB | 10.11.08
To Dave: I’d like to see your definition of a “hate-monger”, then you can try to defend why the mainstream media and Obama surrogates (probably you as well) have shown extreme hate toward Palin since she arrived on the scene 6 weeks ago. I want to hear you explain that one. It’s funny - liberals like you hold yourselves up as “tolerant”, until someone has a different view on issues (abortion, gun control, etc.). Then it’s suddenly fine to pound that person into the ground in the name of everything that’s right and true. Do me a favor and think about that one for a while, Dave.
86. SteveB | 10.11.08
To JoAnn: Do you really think that you sound that intelligent sharing with everyone that you believe the Sarah Palin is a joke? You can dislike her and her views - that’s fine - but your post was ridiculous, and you know it. I’m tired of people running around blabbing that Palin is dumb, when she’s a very bright woman, which is how she got to become a governor. Grow up!
87. SteveB | 10.11.08
To Sheri (#51): Appearance of SNL endorsing Palin? Are you kidding? They’ve spent the last month mocking her, while avoiding making fun of their hero -Barack Obama.
88. Doug S. | 10.11.08
How can NBC contemplate allowing Gov. Palin the free publicity of appearing on SNL when she won’t appear on NBC’s Meet the Press (or any other talk show, for that matter). By doing so, NBC would be complicit in trivializing the presidential race. Can anyone say with a straight face that she’s ready for the presidency (heartbeat away) when she’s not ready for (or allowed to appear on) any talk show?
89. Some Black Guy | 10.11.08

90. Jason87 | 10.11.08
Gov. Palin on SNL should be as funny as:
**** Nixon on TV: “I’m not a crook.”
W at 2004 WH Corresponents’ Dinner: “Where’s the WMD?”
Continuing the tradition of cutting edge comedy from the White House. How can it be not funny?
91. Jaylin Stone | 10.11.08
Good gracious…..Palin on SNL.
What horrors!
Sarah Palin is very good at putting on “THE FACE”
which means she is willing to go along the side of HATE
yet cover it up with a smile.
A puppet is what she is and having her appear on SNL
is very irresponsible.
She has been at rallies where republican supporters scream out “Kill” when
Senator Obama’s name has been called out and this is thanks to John Mccain, the hyprocrit and Sarah Palin, the puppet.
Sarah abuses power. Is indeed the barracuda she was named by her high
school mates, and would lead us into abyss of **** if gets anywhere
near the white house.
If the democrats were running a campaign in which the candidate
instigated his/her supporters to scream out “Kill” when it came to
the republican opponent, this would ALARM me, too.
Disgusting, that Sarah Palin.
Truly disgusting.
But she’s darn good to laugh at.

Give Palin a chance. She is good for all women. I believe the folks who dislike her do so because her being reminding them of thier moral and character deficiencies. Let’s show countries who oppress females that this country is one that doesnt and females can run the show.
94. Beverly B. | 10.11.08
I can’t wait to see Sarah Palin on SNL AND in the WHITE HOUSE. Some of you people are SO wrong. You should be scared of Hussien Obama. He has done nothing but lie about his ties to terrorist. He gets money and illegal votes through the community organizers ACORN. He has no experience. IF he is elected, he will probably have Rev. Wrong swear him in. Oh yea, that is what I want in our white house. Come on people, you need to wake up. John McCain and Sarah Palin are the ONLY ones that can get us out of this mess the dems have put us in. Go McCain/Palin 08

97. Mattchew7777 | 10.11.08
I find reading these comments more entertaining than watching SNL.
Most comments (I do have to say some are intelligently written) prove that voters on both sides are ill informed and have no clue what they are talking about, except to repeat campaign rhetoric!
98. Dave | 10.12.08
Typical left wing garbage over and over… since when in American politics is it hate or scare mongering to point out the obvious weaknesses of a candidate for the most powerful position in the world. Its amazing that anything that does not paint a rosy picture of Obama is considered hateful. Its a fact that Obama has questionable associations, little experience and his leadership in his current position is non-existent. People really have to look at this guy, he’s nothing but speeches in a fancy suit with a good delivery. People are letting their disdain for Bush cloud their judgment so much that they are willing to take a giant leap and vote for the most unqualified candidate in the history of America. What does he stand for… read his books look at who he hangs with and look at his lackluster career as a state representative and as a United States Senator.

It probably would be in bad taste to show the “Weather Underground” blow up
the few cops, and places in Washington back in the anti-war days of Vietnam!
Getting someone to sign a big mortgage contract, while living on SSI, might be a hoot! Especially if they had to grind on them to do it! Janet Reno, did a lot of the pressuring toward the reluctant banks, she’s always good for a chuckle. Maybe, an old couple who just lost their life savings, might mix up some special kool-aid, thanks to Barney Frank’s generosity with the bogus loans. Barney, is certainly amusing, Dodd with his sweetheart loan from the toxic banks, could be some funny SCHTICK. Obama working out the M.O. of ACORN, years ago, as a young lawyer, might be grist for the SNL mill.Ayres ghost writing the two Obama books, could be good for laughs, if Obama was making
some really poetic catchlines! Dems can be funny characters too! Some might be as goofy as the “Baracuda from Alaska”!
101. Dee | 10.12.08
When Hillary appeared we all were surprised. It was cute at the time. The country was stable, well, at least the economy was. Right now, we are losing our homes, our pensions, our children’s college funds, groceries prices are at an all time high, gas prices are still to high - I can go on and on. People in this country are weighing their options; some even weighing suicide. This is so typical of Republicans to put on blinders. This is no time for Palin to appeared on a parody show! Once again, it re-inforces how trivial Republicans think our situation is right now. Palin on SNL right now is akin to the AIG executive scandal — it takes really big . . . (sorry ran out of writing space here.)
102. Ken | 10.12.08
Let’s hope the SNL actors, stage hands and/or writers boycott this show because Palin is someone who has been shown to incite racism and hate.
103. Aaron Ververs | 10.12.08
I’ll make SURE I miss that particular broadcast. SNL used to be funny.
104. wendy miller | 10.12.08
Please no! Tina Fey is a perfect Palin impersonator and therefore the real Palin need not apply, or appear. It would not be a funny moment and SNL needs to be about fun. Satirical and cutting edge fun, but fun. Real people appearing as themselves should be banned during election season.
105. Paul | 10.12.08
“Cancel all substantial news interviews, Betty, until election day, but keep that lovely SNL appearance. I like that one, they have cue cards, and I don’t have to answer hard questions from those gosh golly jeepers meany peeny media elitists.”

106. Katie | 10.12.08
Jeez, don’t people understand that this country will go into turmoil if McCain and Palin are elected? John McCain has health issues, and what if he dies? Its a horrible thought, but entirely possible. Then, we would have this woman who everyone thinks is a joke running our country…umm, obviously, that would be a problem.
107. melanie | 10.12.08
Can you please explain how it is not defamatory to repeatedly describe Senator Obama as a “Moslem” (# 19, 26, 31, etc. etc.) that he “HATES THE USA” and “HATES FREEDOM” (#84) and to call him a “boy” (#34)? And that these comments by their very nature are not intended to incite a level of violence?
Civil disagreement, yes. Nasty name-calling and thinly-veiled racist speech IN ALL CAPS, no thank you.
Christian Science Monitor editors, do your job!
I’ll be surprised if this is published, but hope it is at least read by your internal staff.
108. Karen G | 10.12.08
Odd that Palin is willing to go on SNL but declined interviews from NBC. She must think this is a better way to win votes, since she doesn’t need to know anything of value. I won’t watch SNL that night, because I don’t want to put any energy into her popularity and I think SNL is supporting her candidacy by scheduling her at this time. Why don’t they ask Obama on, too, then.
109. MarjC | 10.13.08
I have read every comment on this page and was interested in both ’sides’ of the story. I must say, I don’t watch SNL as much as I used to…and will admit that in my opinion, seeing Sarah Palin on the show would be lame. Most posters on this page seem to be ‘thinking’ and intelligent people. I knew how I was going to vote before Palin was even announced as the Republican VP candidate and seeing her on SNL would not change my mind one iota. Please remember people…SNL is a comedy show. What more appropriate venue for Palin? She certainly hasn’t proven herself on anything more serious, so let it be SNL. Does anyone actually think she will come off any better there? I still have hope in the American people enough to think that watching a VP candidate ‘perform’ on a comedy show will not be the decisive point in their choice at the polls.
110. M. J. Norman | 10.13.08
Sarah Palin has gone FAR beyond comedy and laughs, she is a danger to not only women’s right’s and freedom’s, but
her extremely venemous, hate filled, lying, outburst’s during her campaign speeche’s, that provoke her “follower’s” to scream out horrible, disgusting things like,”off with his head,” “kill him”,” terrorist”etc., etc., etc.,are an obvious threat to any American wanting and hoping for A BETTER WAY!
She is truly a “gifted” speaker, and if she can’t “DAZZLE THEM WITH HER BRILLIANCE, GUESS SHE’LL BAFFLE THEM WITH HER BULL____! But why on SNL?
Anybody and everybody NOT interested in watching “SARAH” continueing to be the true ACTRESS that she obviously is, let’s all BOYCOTT SNL on “HER” special night. Gosh Darn It, Not that it will matter to SNL one way or another.
Obviously , they are unconcerned with her LIE’S, Extremely NEGATIVE,HATEFUL, and DANGEROUS attack’s against Senator Obama, and any and all of “US”, who don’t share her very scary, narrowminded, ignorant view’s.
Of any person–male or female– Sarah Palin does not need to be “show-cased” any longer.
Let’s just all, NOT WATCH!!!

There is nothing wrong with Sarah Palin. She is the real deal as far as a woman goes. She is smart, tough, open minded, already an executive. When you people say the negative things you say about her it sounds like fear to us out here in the independent voter club. You really sound scared of this woman who has done no ham to anything or anyone. She just might be the best thing that ever happened to the white house. The jury is OUT.
C’mon boys and girls…BUCK UP!

It was like the show on NPR, (FRESH AIRE) listing to Billy Kristol write the Republican Party should dump everyone today. I am enjoying watch a man, and his party defeat a former shoe in, and now the Republican elect, along with the religious right (neither right, or religious). (I have written more letters to Congress about abortion, then Sarah has!) This election, will be bought by no one, execpt the people, (no government funds) It will be a very convincing election, nothing left to the Surpeme Court to rule on. The middle class will win, FOX NEWS will lose, with Karl, Mike, Sean, Bill, andof course Newt! If you take the time, look back and see how you got to where you are. Lets wait and see where Sarah ends up. I think her tour of duty is almost over, and a change will gome in 10 Days.

117. Mary McCurry | 10.13.08
I’m really tired of reading all the hype about Gov Palin not being experienced. She has more experience that Barack Obama. And Biden, with his 35 years in the Senate with a supposedly foreign policy expertize made up totally fictitious non-facts during the VP debate about America pushing Hezbollah out of Lebanon (We never did. No one did) and in another instance talking about Roossevelt addressing the American people on TV after the Crash of 1929! How utterly pathetic. A high school student would know better - Roosevelt was around in ‘29 nor was TV. He’s been making up facts and stories since gradualte school and has learned how to smoothe people over with high sounding voice and fast talking mouth just like Obama - what a team!! Gov Palin accomplished more in Alaska’s Chief Executive Office than Obama has in his lifetime. And as for judgment - McCain is so right when he points out that Obama should not be making public statements about invading an ally against without their consent. That foreigh policy naivite if I ever heard any. And the economic crisis–just go back to when the first market plummet occured and Obama was spreading fear that this was the worst crash since the great Depression. It wasn’t. It was the worst in five years and we were no where near a depression. He has since talked about staying calm - maybe someone gave him a clue that spreading panic is not the way to lead. Obama is a smooth talking change artist and that’s the real change you can believe in. I’ve already voted for McCain/Palin and pray this far left Marxist who wants to re-distribute our money and personal property to suit his own ways gets pummeled in the voting boothes across America.

I think it is interesting how most Democrats call “HONESTY” by Gov. Palin (or any Republican) “HATE” remarks. Is it wrong to speak the truth about Obama & his ’side-kicks’? I pray Obama loses the election. Most votes for him, I belive, will come from those that are continuelly asking for help from “Big Brother Government”. Where is the old INDEPENDANT–TAKE RESPOSIBILITY FOR MYSELF–AMERICAN KNOWHOW?” When we get everyone on Welfare, who will be left to work & pay taxes to the hot-shots in Washington to keep the bums on the freebies? Yes, i know there are folks that truly need help. And they should have it. But most of the others has become a ‘life style’ for them. 10-14-08

I sent SNL, NBC, and GE Corp personal letters about this,
and I will say it again:
If SNL has Palin on, UNOPPOSED, scripted & cute, doing any kind of self-promotional skit,
and McCain gets ANY noticeable “bump” in the polls or worse yet, it affects the outcome of the election,
I WILL BOYCOTT NBC, SNL, their SPONSORS, and GE Corp products INDEFINITELY,
and I ADVISE EVERYONE ELSE TO DO SO.
NO FREE UNOPPOSED CAMPAIGNING on network tv for Palin, Obama or anyone.
BOYCOTT SNL, NBC, and GE Corp if this happens!!
The boycott will be organized on Huffington Post and Moveon.org.

I can’t believe Loren Michaels or NBC would allow this. After being a loyal fan of SNL since the 70’s, I will not be watching the shows anymore.

Come to think of it, I don’t recall any politician in recent history having ever been elected to office, after appearing on SNL, and McCain blew off Letterman as well, around the same time as Palin’s appearance. It could be good news for Obama supporters if there is an SNL curse. I seem to recall Dukakis doing SNL, and look where he ended up!?
On a similar Note I also recall watching Richard Nixon on “Laugh In”, saying, “Sock it to Me?!” Need I say more?
I think while it is true that most good comedians would make great politicians, not all great politicians would make good comedians. (Wait a sec…Let me re-phrase that!)

Isn’t it ironic that hatemongers use the word hatemonger when describing someone?

When I was busy working as a professional engineer I personally had no time for or a real concept on how bad the real world is with much too many liars, thugs, bullies, abusers, distorters, racists , thieves, now too.. and someone how next I could not help but encountered many of them, but I had by now learned how to best deal with them.
It is a two fold approach, first the Public exposure, the pen is mightier than the sword, and a good name is worth more than any silver and gold. But next also there is rightful demand, a need for their termination of employment, their real prosecution of the guilty, bad persons.

So far people have talked about Obama not having enough experience to be President, or that his “300″ advisors filled him in on this and that…yada yada yada. But let me point out the different between HIS advisors and McCain’s advisors: Obama’s advisors, got him this far, and doing, I’d say, pretty damn well. McCain’s advisors: Chose Sarah Palin..they knew what they were doing. There was a reason they chose her. But, they didnt do it well enough, especially in the beginning. McCain’s aides even admit that they didnt do it right, and prep her enough.
In regards to OBAMA: I should point out that JFK was also young and did NOT have much experience when he became President. But, I will let history speak for itself. We were also able to get a man to the moon and back in one piece, within a decade, as he said he would. That’s a Visionary, and a Legend in my book. A sad, sad time in american history when he was assassinated.
So, the whole “Obama is too young and inexperienced” notion is BS. Even for Palin. Also, think about this: If Palin was prepped by (heaven forbid) Obaba’s advisors, she would be able to walk the walk and talk the talk like Obaba or Joe Biden currently does..or even like McCain. But, when it comes down to real core issues, I wont vote for someone like her and her ideals: Pro-Life, Anti-Gay rights (I am Hetero, but I definitely support their rights), Pro-Abstinence vs. Real Sex education, Anti-Wildlife (she would remove the protection on Polar Bears and their natural habitat to drill for oil) and she supported Killing wolves from Airplanes and Helicoptors as a means for animal control and game hunters. I am by no means a hardcore wildlife activist. But, I respect the land, its animals and its ecosystems…at least I try to.

Sorry. The release of atomic energy has not created a new problem. It has merely made more urgent the necessity of solving an existing one.
I am from France and learning to read in English, tell me whether I wrote the following sentence: “Ecg provides detailed information on ecg, ecg course, ecg cross reference, ecg semiconductors and more.”
Best regards :-), Demetrius.

I wish to god this was a joke. SNL is making a huge mistake and taking far to large a part in the Presidential Race.
I feel so ashamed that people are willing to vote for Palin, and I’m sure some will vote for her because she makes this appearance.
She has virtually no understanding of National or Foreign politics beyond what her advisers tell her,
Is that really suppose to be funny?
If McCain knows they answers why is he not sharing them, do we have to wait til he is in office?
The rest of the world is watching truly afraid that McCain/Palin could win. I’m glad SNL thinks this a big joke, because the rest of the world will think we are one too.
