Sarah Palin on 2012: No, not at all, not at all, no
By Jimmy Orr | 01.29.09
You know that political action committee that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin set up a couple days ago? You remember, SarahPAC.
There was a lot of hoopla and buzz about it like this was proof that she’s running for president in 2012.
What about Obama?
Many of our readers wondered if Americans could give our current president a little more time on the job rather than focusing on 2012 election coverage. After all, he’s only been in office for nine days and his approval rating is quite high.
So, yes, we think Obama’s presidency is still newsworthy. Our reporters are all over it.
In other news … back to Sarah Palin’s PAC.
She spoke about it yesterday. And she said - just like her PAC spokesperson said two days ago - that this is not about running for president.
“No, not at all, not at all, no,” Palin told the Anchorage Daily News.
She set this PAC up so she could hit the rubber-chicken circuit.
“It’s helpful to have a PAC so that when I’m invited to things even like to speak at the Lincoln Day dinner in Fairbanks, to have a PAC pay for that instead of have the state pay for that because that could be considered quasi-political.”
No dough
She further explained that the PAC’s formation is necessary because she doesn’t have money to eat at Lincoln Day dinners like past governors.
“Other governors in the past they all had a fund to be able to travel for things like that. I do not. But now we’ll have an available source of funds so that we’re not coming close to any ethical line to be crossed in terms of travel or participation in events that will help Alaska but could be seen perhaps as not worthy of state funding,” she said.
So mystery solved. Sarah Palin is not running for president in 2012.
Big book deal
If you’re like us, however, you’d still like to hear her take on the 2008 campaign. We told you that she’s shopping a book deal and it could land her huge money. Like $11 million.
To put that into perspective, former First Lady Laura Bush received $2 million for her upcoming memoirs. And former President Bill Clinton last year made $4.7 million making speeches.
No dough
The reports of $11 million though don’t add to Palin though.
“That $11 million figure that I read about also is laughable. That’s out of anybody’s realm of possibility of consideration,” she said.
If she writes a book, she says, it will be only if it benefits Alaska - not her pocketbook.
“If there were an opportunity in the future to, again, do something to promote Alaska, I will do it. But I will only do it if it’s in Alaska’s best interest and it doesn’t harm my family,” she said.
Unless a liberal media ghostwriter somehow sneaks into the project, she should be able to prevent harm to her family. After all, she’d be the writer.

And yet their are still 26 % of America that will believe that even when she runs in 2012. But if you do Gov. Palin do this American a favor. Study ! spend less time on your control issues ie your brother inlaw and your grandson. Have your staff spend less time on racist email and more on research. Because God help us if you do get in. Its not about popularity …. its about competence. Its not about cute little small town gips but about communicating. Its not about energising the base its about the american people. So the people will understand these cute little political lies . But watch out for what you wish for.Cuse if you are not ready for prime time…. You know what you get. BUSH

Thank You, Jesus! I am SO relieved that she is recognizing her limitations for the good of the planet, and will NOT be seeking the presidency.

Please let this woman fade into the obscurity she richly deserves. However, it is really nice to know that Republicans can change, such as the issue of acceptance of unwed teenage pregnancy, which Sarah Palin’s daughter is the poster child for.
6. Eva Chasida | 01.29.09
If Sarah Palin were really all about Alaska’s best interests and looking out for her family, then she would cease her endless efforts to keep herself in the limelight in the narcissistic quest to remain relevant until the next presidential election cycle. Other than her ability to effectively depict a national icon of demagoguery, Palin demonstrated no particular intelligence nor governance skills in the course of her last campaign. Most likely, the reports of anyone willing to pay $11 million for her life story are originated within her own camp, in their desperate effort to create a buzz and keep her brand in the public eye.

I was a college student in the 60’s. As a Christian I was not willing nor did I want to get involved in the activities of some of the women who were fighting for equal pay, etc. for women. I did not at that time nor do I now think that the sexual and immoral activities of these women were a help. I was surprised that because I was a Christian that I and my fellow Christians were dismissed and even hated by these women. We still stood up for our rights and fought for equal pay, etc.
I saw this mentality again with Sarah Palin. They and those like them hated her because she had morals and believed in an unborn baby’s right to life. Now just as then, if you are not immoral, angry, and vicious the same group who said they were fighting for her right to express herself tried to stop her.

Palin is quoted:“Other governors in the past they all had a fund to be able to travel for things like that. I do not. But now we’ll have an available source of funds so that we’re not coming close to any ethical line to be crossed in terms of travel or participation in events that will help Alaska but could be seen perhaps as not worthy of state funding,” she said.
If there’s a remote chance that this person runs for office and wins, I will move to Mexico. Can you imagine trying to decipher the “English” she speaks after enjoying Obama’s mastery of the language? yikes.
9. Bill Ayers | 01.29.09
Jimmy Orr is still drinking the (Berry) Hussein Obama grape juice. He needs to focus on some real issues hurting this country. Something to the affect that where is all of this bail out money coming from, or how will it effect the future generations of Obama grape juice drinkers. Look, the messiah spent 150 million on an inauguration and then froze the wages of the white house staff. What the????? This is the same old propaganda of, do what I say, not what I do. I think the messiah should freeze his own pay and than donate it to the IRS tax fund to help pay for the bail out plan. Oh, that’s right he don’t do that. You know the giving thing. Hope a woman with a good head on her shoulders runs like Palin.

Hmmm…in the front-page splash picture on the sarahpac.com web site,
isn’t that black suit one of the items purchased for Palin by the RNC?
You know, the clothing that’s been reported to be sitting in plastic
garbage bags in RNC headquarters?
If yes, it’s newsworthy. No?
11. Mike Clapp | 01.29.09
Genuine.
I think those in America that didn’t like Sarah dispise people who don’t put up appearances and false personalities like them.
Love her last comment to have everyone pile in and she’ll take them across town. LOL You may have to suffer through her thinking through issues out loud, but at least you know what you are getting. Anyone else think we might have gotten Bush on crack with Obama?
Bumping up funding on international war and not a single executive order limiting the executive powers or FISA powers instituted under Bush. His first day he says no country can be required to accept missle attacks without response, and then on his second day he bombs Pakistan. Why can’t Russia bomb NY if their secret agents uncover terrorists that are a perceived threat to Russia…even if they are american?
Don’t wonder where we were spending our money, you always knew it. It sickens me that the republican primary candidate Ron Paul has proven out to have been far and away the best choice we had. No one can say we didn’t have a better alternative.
Well, the approval rating may be 75% but the approval rating of his sitmulus package is worse than Bush ever had. It will rub off on him, because deep down most people are real like Sarah Palin and know a real pig with lipstick.
12. JB | 01.29.09
Why does the media continue to cover her? The recent stories about Sarah Palin have as much relevance as those about Brittney Spears & Jessica Simpson.
13. jerry w | 01.29.09
Sarah who?
Nothing else newsworthy going on today?
If she could get her baby’s baby daddy’s mom to make oxycontin deliveries to Rush Limbaugh,
then she would be seen as earning her public air time. Otherwise, not so much.
Back to obscurity (AKA Alaska) with her…..
14. hamishdad | 01.29.09
If Sarah wants to keep her name in the news, why doesn’t she just get pregnant?
15. Molly McDonald | 01.29.09
I think Gov Palin will do anyhing to get her name in the news. An environment-hating, animal-killing Alaskan is more than even Republicans can stand. If she is a ‘real’ person, God help us all!
16. j-damn | 01.29.09
*Thank You, Jesus! I am SO relieved that she is recognizing her limitations for the good of the planet, and will NOT be seeking the presidency.*
That’s what the headline says. That’s not what Sarah Palin says. Of course, you’d know that if you read the story.
*Many of our readers wondered if Americans could give our current president a little more time on the job rather than focusing on 2012 election coverage. After all, he’s only been in office for nine days*
I’m sorry, who was it again who drove around with bumper stickers counting down the days until the end of the previous President’s term?
18. tom shane | 01.29.09
Palin is a personality. That is her only skill. Unfortunately, for many of us Americans being a personality is the zenith of accomplishment: how we can equate it to having the skills necessary to lead our country is beyond me.
19. Originalist | 01.29.09
Sarah is a Class Act!! We need more politicians like her. No ego, no greed, only what’s best for the people…not for reelection.
20. AnotherMark | 01.29.09
I too am praying she runs in 2012. She brought an amazing amount of energy and hilarity to the 2008 race. I don’t remember laughing so hard in past elections. I hope more and more people back her and support her run. It would help lock in Obama for eight years.
As a side not, I want to mention her amazing and unique take on sentence structure. Where can I order a transcript for the video/interview above? I wonder if it looks as funny on the page as it sounds when she ’speaks’ it. I can feel english teachers across America cringing…
21. G Hopkins | 01.29.09
For all of you dye in the wool republicans that just love Palin to death. Please, I encourage you, in fact I will even give money to her PAC if you can get her nominated. If you want to put your republican party back another 10 years just keep bleeding your god and country gibberish (the party only has 2 or 3 talking points any more all involving religion). Most people hopefully are not like Palin, if they are then god help this country.
22. edg | 01.29.09
Judging by the comments here, an (another) ignorant leader to lead what is now predominately an ignorant country, would be perfect.
This is the BEST a party can choose to sit in the HIGHEST office: Sarah Palin! LOL.
It doesn’t really matter which party is “in” anyway. If you pull your heads out of your soap operas and superbowls, do some research and WAKE UP. This is all just a comic sideshow. The government has not been of government “of the people” for quite some time now.
23. Jim Dandy | 01.29.09
I guess President Obama must speak with Palin. After all she is a Governor. But I wish he could snub her. She accused him of being a terrorist sympathizer. She based her and her dishonorable running mate’s campaign on lies, bigotry, fear-mongering and hate. People like her are not true Americans. Best she stay in Alaska and spend her time trying to get everything she can for herself and her trailer park family. She has shown that she does not have any real regard for the best interests of the US and its people. It is probably obvious that I do not like Palin and everything that she stands for.
24. EMMANUEL | 01.29.09
If Sara Palin is the best of what the republicans has for 2012 ,they might as well register their party along the line of what used to be,may be dinosaur.if clueless is a talent congratulation PALIN as president of Jupiter
25. Chris Wells | 01.29.09
I hope the next candidate is an Atheist. There is nothing worse in this day and age than the religious and no religion worse than christians.
26. Kai | 01.29.09
Do any of those politicians write their own books?
Word of encouragement for Sarah (who almost has a solid BA) - it’s like a really long paper but you have to pretend you know what you’re writing about.
I have the feeling it would be a short book.
27. Bobaloo | 01.29.09
Run Sarah run. See Sarah run. Run run run. See Obama win. Win win win. You hillbillies ought to know a loser when you see one. Run Sarah run. See backwoods Barbie guarantee us another election. Wake up, Sarah is over, over over. Done, done, done. Toast, toast toast.
28. debra o | 01.29.09
Um, J-damn, Bush ran this country 8 years…right into the ground. Yes, by golly, I was counting the days til he left! And darned relieved when he did! It cracks me up to hear you dyed-in-the-wools criticize Obama after, what, 8 days in office! Like one other illiterate Bushite said in my local paper, Ohh, Obama hasn’t done anything!..wait, he’s done a lot in the last 8 days. He’s done exactly what he was hired to do…un-do SOME of the harm Bush inflicted on us all!

The only reason Sarah Palin gets any votes is so 8th grade-educated bumpkins can have one of their own to root for.
32. Dave Wesely | 01.29.09
It is nice Sarah is back in the news again. Too bad we don’t understand why. My understanding of it is that she is a distraction from Huckabee. McCain took a hit for the GOP corporatists by selecting her as VP elect. Why? The corporatists love the religious right voter, but not their leadership. Huckabee is a real threat because he is an electable member of the religious right. Palin is inevitably unelectable and therefore safe for the corporate sector. She also pulls support away from Huckabee. So, heh, Go Sarah!

34. dharper | 01.29.09
How does Sarah Palin get so much coverage?
The media, you dummies! If the media, of all stripes, would not peddle their butts up to Alaska to ‘ferret’ out some type of trashy story no one in the lower 48 would care.
That holds true for any personality that they wish to diss.
The media is as inconsequential to the American public as are politicians. Neither group is objective. The media is, and has admitted to be, decidedly left of center. Politicians have always been for themselves regardless of what nonsense they espouse when out on the election trail.
We have long since lost a “government of the people, by the people and for the people.”
It has become a “government of the politician, by the politician and for the politician.”
Just review recent history: the guv of Illinois - the mayor of Detroit - the mayor of Boston - the Dem Party machine of Chicago, etc. One can go on endlessly and show examples of complete malfeasnce.
But folks, we continue to put the same type of mental midgets into office term after term. The most recent election has just re-enforced that tenet with the election of Obama. When you come out of Chicago politics you can never, and I repeat never, scrape all the dirt off that is required to be a part of the corrupt machine.
Once the ‘bloom is off the rose’ and reality sets in there are going to be a lot of people disappointed in the ‘next coming Savior.’

It amazes me that…
there are still people who think Palin was denigrated because of her beliefs - no that was an add on by, some - she was denigrated largely for her pompous, above the law attitude and her obvious lack of the knowledge required to sit in the Oval Office.
It amazes me that
there are still people who don’t do enough research on their own before opening their mouths. Please tell me again how all these great Republican ideas have helped the country to proper? Oh yeah - those same ideas that fly in the face of so many economists - like the 200+ that wrote Congress and Obama concerning the fallacy of tax cuts and the importance of internal investments - even with the current deficits.
I’ll take the wisdom of the five Nobel winners and their cohorts over your insipid opinions any day.
36. Jack | 01.29.09
I really hope Sarah runs in 2012, 2016 and 2020. We need to keep the Republicans out of office as long as possible and she would do just that. No sane person, with at least a middle-school education would willingly vote for this woman. We need to move away from the religious right, they are the kind of people that Jesus Christ would call, “false followers.”
37. Chris | 01.29.09
The woman is on tape having spirts removed from her body. sure you evangelicals may not have a problems with that, but i find it about as disturbing as if she was on tape using a voodoo doll. (and if you allowed yourself to be objective you would too.)
38. Michael | 01.29.09
I really hope the Republicans choose her to run the party. I further hope she chooses as her running mate another crazy right-wing celebrity so we win 40+ states and 500+ electoral votes next time.
Palin-Limbaugh 2012!
39. becca | 01.29.09
Self-absorbed as Palin is, you would think even she would understand that our President has much to do right now. For example,he’s trying to get this country, which is in dire straits, shambles, a huge gaping wound of a country ruled into ruinship by W, and the lawless people he employed, back to some sense of sanity.
Just look around, everywhere there is the stench of corruption, and lawlessness. The DOJ, the CIA man accused of rapes in Algeria, are just two examples out of thousands.
Palin thinks President Obama should chit-chat with her? Maybe she should be just a tad patient. I know there are thousands of parents still waiting for Mr. Bush to let them know the REASON WHY their children died for the Iraq INVASION, and that he, eventually was not that interested in catching Bin Laden.
Meantime, how’s that convicted drug dealer felon, the one whose son fathered a child with your teenage daughter, doing. Get in line, Palin, take a number, and pretend to be just a little bit humble.

If Sarah Palin talks to Barack Obama and Barack Obama “palls around with terrorists”, does this mean Sarah is now palls with terrorist? And by the way, I hope she runs, and runs, and runs. Best thing to happen to the Democrats in years (I can see Russia = foreign policy experience. Who could argue with that logic? Except maybe a 5th grader!)
42. Laura | 01.29.09
Sarah Palin is not really all that awesome. Come to Alaska and we’ll show you what we mean…
43. Emily | 01.29.09
People who are against Sarah Palin are just jealous that she is so much energized by Americans who voted for her. Gov. Palin is proof that you do not need to be highly educated, intelligent, or even a good speller to be a popular leader. The time is right for a righteous person to serve as President, even if that person is not up on a lot of the details about the world and history. Since when do you have to be a college educated person to serve political office in this country? That’s not in the Constitution, and is not what politics should be about. Abe Lincoln proved that. Only the liberal media think that because they are smart everyone else should also be smart. Talk about imposing values! Go Sarah!
44. a reader | 01.29.09
“…she should be able to prevent harm to her family. After all, she’d be the writer.”
LOL! Palin has a wonderful talent for putting her foot in it, all on her own. In fact, she seems to insist on doing it. What a hoot!

My, My, MY the hate the upper left rains down on the head of commoner who dares invade their exclusive hold on American politics…..class warfare of the most despicable kind…”trailer park family”…beats having Bernie Madorf as your investment counselor, or Barney Franks as your diction coach.
Her state of the State address given in January is must reading for conservatives in America, R, D, G, or I.
Get used to it, Palin is very much the same product of the mass media as Obama was; only she reaches down to a different strata in American Society…Single moms with ’special’ kids; selling the plane on eBay…how many pointy headed HARVARD grads know how to make money on eBAY?
Anyway, she’s a huge part of the Republican resurgence and being joined by other young upstarts—Jindahl, etc. Arnold/Palin ticket? hmm.
46. djcb | 01.29.09
Oh the irony. Just months ago Palin accused Obama of palling around with terrorists. Now Palin is coming to Washington in order to have the chance to pal around with Obama.
Obama signed the equal pay for equal work law today, however the Republicans rallied to have funds dropped for women’s reproductive health from the stimulus package. I suppose women will be treated equally for health benefits when men can give birth.
47. The Hammer | 01.29.09
It would be a sad state of affairs if she was ever in the list for candidacy. It’s not because she is a small town lady, it’s because she is completely incompetent to be in the position of the Presidency. I don’t care how you slice it, she is entirely incompetent. Let’s look for people that fit the role with intelligence, not with the cutesy-folksy small town speak.
48. Michael | 01.29.09
Guess the few idiots left that still support the GOP want another brain-dead leader. I am sure these are the people who still think Bush did a good job.
Funny how you are all whining about Obama spending money on infrastructure projects, while you ignored all the money Bush wasted for 8 years.
The Republcan Party really has nothing to offer this country, best if you just disbanded.
49. Roy | 01.29.09
Sarah Palin will look a whole lot smarter by 2012; when your Jimmy Carter 2 plan fails as miserably as Jimmy Carter 1.

If Sarah is truly dumb …then she is NO threat to ANYONE !!…WHY why on earth is everyone raving and ranting the moment her name is uttered ? Is it because she sends shivers downs the spines of those who hate her with vitriolic venom ??It is time that some decency surfaces in the US and we realise that despite our differences , everyone has a right to choose what they want to do ….Ultimately time will tell what sort of legacy each one will leave behind …and the destiny of any nation & any individual is surely drafted by divine plan & intervention !

53. Sarah Palin | 01.29.09
Please vote for me in 2012. I’m sexy, religious, a mom, have a college degree and best of all, I’m just like all my other fellow “real Americans”. I will rid our country of the scurge of SOCIALISM and usher in a new age of completely unfettered capitalism. I will no longer tax anyone making over $250k so that they can hire people to work for them and grow the economy and create jobs. I love America. God Bless you.
55. Larry Linn | 01.29.09
The Republicans nominateing Palin for President will guarantee the re-election of Obama. Sarah Palin is correct. The American Press gave her a tough time, …and she could not handle it. Someone is to blame, but not her? The Vice President, let alone the President, should be able to handle the American press as well as the foreign press. Those damn talking heads. Since she used to be one, she should know how to handle the interviews. When someone asks what newspapers and magazines that she reads, she could have easily stated the last ones that she read, People Magazine, US, TV Guide, or whatever. Any candidate the uses their children as back-drops and props for every television and photographic opportunity should realize that the children will become political fodder. It appears that Palin presumes that her fecundity is equivalent to family values. Senator McCain, accepted the results and handled the results professionally. He went back to work. Does she make any constructive comments upon the bailouts, budget, unemployment, as well as wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Gaza? No! She is guilty of what Phil Gramm calls whining.

Sarah Palin should apologize to Obama for all the incentive remarks made during the last few months. Upon apology, Obama should grant her a dinner some time in 2009, perhaps Halloween.

“If Sarah is truly dumb …then she is NO threat to ANYONE !!…WHY why on earth is everyone raving and ranting the moment her name is uttered ?”
Well, perhaps because the fact the GW Bush somehow made it to the top spot indicates that there are a lot MORE “truly dumb” folks than just Sarah…

Chris Wells wrote: “I hope the next candidate is an Atheist. There is nothing worse in this day and age than the religious and no religion worse than christians.”
Whatever happened to freedom of religion? Every religion has (or at least should have) equal standing in America. The equality that so many espouse today seems hollow when they are willing to raise everyone else up at the expense of one group.
I see. The Constitution must not mean anything anymore. Maybe America *should* have a dictatorship for a while.
62. John Carpenter | 01.29.09
It’s almost sad to see the unprecedented self-deception of democrats. They believe Obama is the Joe Lewis of American presidents and Palin would be “the tomato can of the month” in 2012. Perhaps some of you should watch a replay of the 2008 Belmont Stakes, the February 22nd, 1980 hockey game between the U.S. team and the Soviets, m not interested in sports? How about “Shakespeare in Love” beating out Save Private Ryan” for best picture.

I am 100% in support of Sarah Palin for President in 2012. I believe she can really help us all as Americans. People don’t like her b/c they know that she has the gonads to win. I think that she will use these 4 years wisly and be able to come back into the spotlight. Watch out Obama….Palin is kicking your so called “Change” and shouting “REFORM”!!! GO PALIN YOU ROCK!!

As a lifelong Democrat and a diehard Obama supporter, all I can say is… I LOVE SARAH PALIN! Seriously, please, PLEASE run for President. Run for everything. Become the face of the Republican Party. Go head to head in debates with Barack Obama, the greatest orator of our time. Go for it, you betcha!! I saw firsthand how you delivered 27 votes in Florida to Obama. Next time, you can give us Missouri, North Dakota, Arizona, Georgia, and Texas! Sarah Palin, thank you. You are the best thing ever to happen to the Democratic Party. I’m contributing to SarahPAC right now!

Ms. Pailin is probably a good Governor and parent, but would make a lousy president , unless she goes back to college and get herself better educated and more in contact with the real world. Her 15 minutes of fame are over, she lost, had a nice opportunity to wear nice cloths and offend every other politician and show how easily she can split and divide. Who wants a person like this be in charge of a country of this caliber? Stay in Alaska and take care of the border. As far away as possible of the civilized world, please.

Sarah, I sure do hope that you think about 2012. We need you to help turn things around. Obama scares me and just in nine days weve gone downhill. Sorry for how the press treated you and your family. They were scared.
As for Cecilia she was scared to. President Sarah has a great ring to it.

Re: Palin…60%…
George Bush (aka “The Great Satan”) early in his first term had a popularity rating of 90%. He exited office at 29%.
I’d bet my lungs President Obama never sniffs 90%.
The FACT of the matter is that it doesn’t matter today what Palin’s popularity is. When Richard Nixon lost to Jerry Brown in ‘62 in his run for the governor of California, legendary journalist declared Nixon’s “concession speech” his
“political obituary”.
Six years later he was in the White House and the democrats run of winning six of the previous nine presidential elections was over.
The point? Palin’s current regard (or the lack of it) for fitness to hold the office is meaningless. Ronald Reagan looked like John Adams after a disastrous Carter presidency.

she lost because people didn’t want her to be the 2nd most powerful person on earth should anything happen to Mr. McCain. grow up people, get over your prejudices or crawl back into your ’50s bomb shelter

Republicans?!? Don’t they ever give up? Swallow your pride and admit defeat

I sent SarahPAC $25, and will volunteer (along with 2 other friends) to help her campaign if she does run.
Why? Because we truly hope she gets the GOP nomination for president in 2012. NOTHING could do a better job of KEEPING Obama in office.
Thank you for bringing the “LOL” back to politics Sarah, I wasn’t sure what would happen now that Bush is gone.

conservative tend to think of competence in public office. Some people in life are passionate about getting involved in politics. They have a cause, a problem to be solved, a desire to improve the general well. Sara Palin joined a yoga class in Alaska and go involved with some heavy hitters on local politics

I’m backing Sarah for president in 2012…along with lots of other Americans. I’m praying that she wins and makes President Obama a one-term president…just like his all-too-similar and failed Democratic buddy President Jimmy Carter.
