Limbaugh rips into GOP chair - “Republicans hang up on you!”

By Jimmy Orr | 03.02.09

Maybe this is all part of a plan.

Perhaps GOP Chair Michael Steele is fighting Rush Limbaugh now so when the next election heats up, he’ll have honed his debating skills.

Moon crash

Far fetched? Who knows, look at the Chinese government. Yesterday they crashed a lunar probe into the moon. Crashed it.

What happened? Oh, it was on purpose.

According to Information Week, they did it to get “lunar landing experience.”

Spin

Now, that’s good. That’s Ari Fleischer and Michael McCurry good. That’s Drew Rosenhaus good. That even tops Baghdad Bob.

They crashed a satellite into the moon to get “lunar landing experience.” Awesome.

Steele’s experience

So maybe this is what Michael Steele is doing. He’s taking on a pit bull who’s the most listened to radio host in America. He’s taking on the guy who can get a crowd rabid like Hank Williams, Jr. at a NASCAR event or Sarah Palin at a tractor pull. Or Joe Biden at a

And Limbaugh did exactly that on Saturday. Sure, he was in friendly confines. He was speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference. A conference that Chris Matthews compared to a Star Trek convention.

Regardless, Limbaugh’s got a lot of juice left. And taking him on can bring back mixed results.

This is CNN

Today’s issue was over what Steele said while appearing on CNN Saturday night.

First of all, the GOP chair didn’t like it when host D.L. Hughley said Limbaugh was the de facto leader of the Republican party claiming that was his mantle.

Then, Steele explained away Limbaugh’s recent press attention as unworthy because “Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer.”

“His whole thing is entertainment.,” Steele said. “Yes, it’s incendiary. Yes, it’s ugly.”

Limbaugh responds

The “entertainer” line ticked Limbaugh off. Actually, every line ticked him off. For a full 20 minutes, Limbaugh went after Steele this afternoon.

“So I am an entertainer and I have 20 million listeners because of my great song and dance routine,” Limbaugh said. “Michael Steele, you are head of the Republican National Committee. You are not head of the Republican party. Tens of millions of conservatives and Republicans have nothing to do with the Republican National Committee…and when you call them asking for money, they hang up on you.”

“I hope that changes,” Limbaugh added.

There’s more

But before it changes Limbaugh launched a few more missiles at Steele, like:

  • Why are you running the Republican Party? Why do you claim you lead the Republican Party when you seem obsessed with seeing to it that President Obama succeeds?
  • I’m not in charge of the Republican Party, and I don’t want to be. I would be embarrassed to say that I’m in charge of the Republican Party in a sad-sack state that it’s in. If I were chairman of the Republican Party, given the state that it’s in, I would quit.
  • When you send those fundraising requests out, Mr. Steele, make sure you say, we — we — want Obama to succeed. So people understand your compassion.

Divert

What’s the RNC’s response to this mess? Diversion.

“Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats know they lose an argument with the Republican Party on substance so they are building straw men to attack and distract,” RNC spokesman Alex Contant said. “The feud between radio host Rush and Rahm makes great political theater, but it is a sideshow to the important work going on in Washington.”

Huh?

Rush and Rahm? A feud between Rush and Rahm? No one’s paying attention to that.

Although Limbaugh was discussed at the White House press briefing this afternoon, the Democrats get a free pass on this one. They can sit back and watch the show.

You expect “great political theater” between the two parties. But when it’s happening internally, why look anywhere else?

Sounds like the Dems did a great job throwing that piece of meat to the pack of rabid wolves. RIP GOP, LOL!

2. timetolisten | 03.02.09

We need to take the theater out of politics… This is the problem with our country, we are so concerned on who wins and loses, that the policy issues become a distant second to the politics. And in the end, the American people lose, while we are wrapped up in taking sides like it was a football game. There is a lot more at stake here than the superbowl though… We need to hold our elected officials accountable to answer to the people, and work to fix this country. And we should be ignoring all of the talking heads who do nothing but distract us from the real issues at hand.

3. wtobias | 03.02.09

hey we get screwed obama screwing us the rep just screwed us the banks the auto industrys wall street who is left so i guess maybe when they get there fill of money maybe there will be something left for the chinese to take

4. Timmy | 03.02.09

As a card carrying Republican, I am so embarrassed that the best we can do is muster that fat slob blabbermouth as our mouthpiece. Man, we gotta lot of work to do…

5. George Finklestein | 03.02.09

Shrewd move, Rush: Americans must be true to their leader in times of crisis (except when the leader disagrees with your fundamental beliefs). Therefore, hope Obama fails. But the same logic, applied 4 years ago, was intolerable, according to Rush. Further proof Rush is an entertainer–a rhetorician without a serious bone in his body.

6. Alex Mac Donald | 03.02.09

I think the song part The Entertainer’s show deserves about 20,000,000 listeners, especially if they are hearing-impaired. Though I have pretty good sight, especially when I wear my glasses, I have never seen his dance routine. That must be magnificent. When does he do it? And where? On the radio? If so, he should not be allowed to do it during rush hour on the freeways.

7. Michael | 03.02.09

Its a pleasure to watch the GOP melt down, what a bunch of losers!

8. greg johnson | 03.02.09

Rush has lost his way. He has throw the baby out with the bath water. Mr Steele has his job, because he is the ONLY black guy that applied.
Greg

9. john | 03.02.09

“Spin

Now, that’s good. That Ari Fleischer and Michael McCurry good.”

should read “That’s Ari…” etc.

10. hank_v | 03.02.09

I’m seventy eight years old and a REpublican all of my life. but I would hang up on Mr. Obnoxious also just a quickly as I would hang up on four-eyed Mr. Obnoxious from NBC

11. Richard McDonough | 03.02.09

The porcine drug addicted radio person whose name one dare not speak, is an appropriate spokesperson for the party of Steel, Jundal, and Palin. Meanness, cynicism, stupidity, oral flatulence and very little substantive meaning. The party of Politics Over Progress, the wounded dwarf elephant heading for the graveyard of this century.

12. AJC | 03.02.09

Rush Limbaugh is the future of the GOP! He should run for President!

13. Skip Mendler | 03.02.09

Delightful, delightful, delightful Rush is pulling his own “Operation Chaos” - on his own party! Wonderful. The division of the GOP into warring factions, each trying to out-conservatize the other, can only lead to its continued descent into political and historical irrelevance. This development should be cheered by all - not only liberals and progressives, but principled conservatives who realize that they can be nothing other than one part of a diverse populace, and must perforce learn how to coexist.

14. IndieSol | 03.02.09

I know nothing of Sebelius, I know only of Howard Dean. He’s a good man who would have been a great leader at HHS, in addition to being a class act. It makes me nauseous the way he’s been trivialized since 2004. The fifty state strategy he was so widely panned for after taking charge of the DNC is a major reason Obama got elected.

If the dems continue to leave him out, it will be at their own expense.

15. tjohnson | 03.02.09

Why do people listen to Rush the drug addict? The Oxycontin has fried his brains. He took so much he could not hear for a while. We might as well listen to the junkie on the corner talking to himself. It would make about as much sense.

16. bamajim14 | 03.02.09

Go get him,Rush. This guy is a sample of what’s wrong with the GOP.
I for one have given my last penny to this party unless I see major change, starting with a new leader!!!!!

17. ReignForrest | 03.02.09

Well, Limbaugh is indeed the de facto leader of the GOP. And it is a real travesty that the party of Lincoln and Reagan can’t dislodge someone from who has assumed that role strictly on the basis of his bombast and misanthropy.

I KNOW there are erudite, articulate people in the GOP. Are they all in deep slumber? If they stay this way, it’ll have two simultaneous consequences, one good and the other terrible:

- The Dems will continue to forward their progressive agenda.

- The country will further cleave into a progressive majority and an inward-looking misanthropic, ultra-conservative religious Right.

18. Brian | 03.02.09

I hope Rush becomes the leader of the GOP….Nothing better than to divide and conquer the GOP…..GOOOOO RUSH!!!!!!! Rush and Palin, 2012..lol.

19. Steve | 03.02.09

While I like a bit of snark as well as the next guy, I don’t think comparing the Chinese lunar probe to politicians makes you look very well informed. Those who follow space exploration know that the lunar probe was at the end of its scheduled mission and that, like the early lunar probes of the USA and USSR, it was never designed to land softly on the moon. De-orbiting satellites (which in the case of lunar orbit results in a crash) is common practice to reduce space junk and has been done countless times with American satellites in both Earth and lunar orbit. (See the Wikipedia page “List of artificial objects on the moon” and you will see China’s probe has a lot of company.) If you’re willing to do a little background research, you can see the planned mission time was stated quite clearly back in 2007 when the probe was launched.

20. Kathy | 03.02.09

I don’t care if you hate Limbaugh or not-that’s not the point. Buck up and listen to the man and then google absolutely everything he says and disprove it. Same goes for Coulter, google, fact check and again disprove-you won’t be able to. Liberals love to think of themselves as rebels. Sorry to disappoint but liberals are no longer the rebels but are the mainstream. Liberals were rebels in the 60s-not any more.

21. Sam | 03.02.09

A request to Rush and Steele…Please carry this on, till everyone from the newer generations are ticked off and democrats build a permanent majority.

22. Adam | 03.02.09

I think Rush has taken the bait and is actually aiming for some recognised political power and discretion. I wish the best of luck to him, that would be the final nail in the coffin for that joke of a party! Hopefully the conservatives can find another party willing to come forward from the woodwork to represent them. One can hope for change. Ironically.

23. Bible Belt Bob | 03.02.09

Yawn … the modern proliferation of all sorts of pop-news outlets across all sorts of media outlets (internet, radio, cable news, etc) means that even the smallest “not news” stories are blown out of proportion to try to get people to click on / tune in to get ad dollars.

Yes Rush is an entertainer or else he wouldn’t call it “his show” it would just be another news feed with as little bias as possible. Since these media outlets are like 7-11’s in the South, look to the BBC as an example. And the fact that he makes wild comments (like Ann Coulter) to get attention is a trick right from other entertainers (like Madonna, 50 Cent, etc) who do and say wild things to boost their own sales. Again, yawn.

24. dfasdfsdfs | 03.02.09

stupid. both parties (limbaugh and steele) are being stupid…. its a time of rebuilding, not division.

25. Mark | 03.02.09

As a life-long Democrat, hooray Rush. Keep it up. The GOP is pretty much dead in the water and you’re just hastening the end with your maniacal behavior. Go pop another oxy Rush. Maybe it’ll bring that ego of yours back down to Earth.

This is too funny. LOL

26. fiendish avatar | 03.02.09

What cracked me up was when Rush stated that the media would get this wrong, that they would make this a feud, a schism of sorts, when it is in reality (according to Rush) a groundswell of conservativism. The fact that the head of the RNC and Rush Limbaugh are butting heads is somehow evidence that a sleeping giant has awoken–not that key Republicans disagree with one another.

I love it.

Rush built spin right into his diatribe, classic and *gasp* entertaining as always.

But you’re right: even though it’s infinitely more important that the Republican Party is fighting inside of itself, there will be those parroting the party line and claiming that Rahm is trying to distract us (which, really, he may be–but that’s what Dems and Repubs do).

27. Messagero | 03.02.09

The GOP is in a state of confusion. Limbaugh’s reach as an “entertainer”, exceeds the grasp of any of the Republican Party leadership just now. And he needn’t censor himself as do politicians; he can be as candid (rude) as he likes. He can fan the anger of the conservative base, who seem to be reacting to the likes of Palin and Limbaugh in lieu of anyone of substance. The more credible Romney only received a 20% plurality in the CPAC straw poll. Jindal is a bright young man with a future, but he has already compromised himself in allowing creationism to be taught in Louisiana science classes as an alternative to evolution (and on many other issues). Jindal has a biology degree and knows better. As a Louisiana voter, I am deeply disappointed by his willingnes to say anything to grow his influence in the GOP. So they even have the smart ones talking like simpletons, and repeating the old, mantra of cutting taxes and spending, shrinking government and catering to the richest and most powerful so they can save us. Oh wait; weren’t they the greedy people who got us into this mess? Sounds like a recipe for failure to me.

28. l3lessed | 03.02.09

I consider myself a moderate and I am all behind Steele’s remarks. Limbaugh is nothing but an uneducated talk show host who uses people’s ignorance to inflame party politics and create a harmful division among American’s. Anyone who wishes bad things on the president of the United States, if the president is a Democrat or Republican, does not put America first. He is nothing but a leeching, hateful, divisive, lonely man who causes far more harm to this country then any one should let him. It saddens me millions of people listen to him, just like Bill Mar. They are the same two Evils just disguised oppositely.

If we are to survive people we got to learn to respect each others differences and try to help one another prosper no matter political party, beliefs, ect. Wake up America and stop letting others think for you. I know it’s much easier, but you are selling yourself far to short.

29. Chris | 03.02.09

Steel is right — Limbaugh is little more than a sensationalistic info-tainer, just like O’Reilly and most of the Fox and MS-NBC crowds. Sure, they CAN be entertaining, but rarely interested in the truth or a thourough discussion. C-SPAN is often boring, but at least it’s uncontaminated by those “nattering nabobs of negativism” (remember them?). Personally, I consider Limbaugh a self-absorbed ‘Blovinator’ not worth ignoring. Who really has time to listen to talk radio anyway? It’s just a way for country music stations to fill air time when nobody is listening anyway … except when Paul Harvey came on.

30. Kay Butler | 03.02.09

This is almost as much fun as watching Keith Olbermann.

31. Steve Kerr | 03.02.09

Look at this photo. And he’s not an entertainer? This is his “Here’s Johnny!” Jack Nicholson impression right out of “The Shinning”

32. Paul Stewart | 03.02.09

Note how Rush would deal with it if he was head of the Party - quit. And he wants Obama to fail. Great leadership Rush! If you were head of anything people would Rush for the door…. And, by the way, Steele has it right, you are an entertainer, despite you may think you are serious and a heavy weight. You are a fringe player with a fringe game. Not what America needs, some wedge player, skating the game from center ice to out of bounds. Come on, get with it everyone and forget Rush, he is not worth listening to. Really he isn’t.

33. someyunguy | 03.02.09

They have nothing left other than to turn to cannibalism. Please keep it up, Rushhhhhh. :)

34. Roy Berger | 03.02.09

Every time he opens his mouth I can see his feet move.

35. Angel | 03.02.09

Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot! Look at his blubberly neck,he is a heart attack waiting to happen!

36. Jameel | 03.02.09

Am I the only one here who noticed the massive booger hanging out of Limpbaugh’s left nostril???

37. gene | 03.02.09

both parties suck!!! the difference between them is like the difference between coke and pepsi…..rush is correct, I wouldnt give a dime to these yellow back losser’s in place today……………

38. Tyler Daniels | 03.02.09

Rush it right.
What you liberals don’t realize is that Rush is speaking on behalf of alot of Americans that don’t want to see the country become socialist. look what Obama has done to the country - and he hasn’t even finished his first hundred days. Have you looked at your IRA lately. Count it quick before the Democrats wipeout your investments completely. Comprise with the Democrats by the Republican leadership is always a losing deal.

39. KS2 Problema | 03.02.09

The central analogy of Limbaugh’s explanation for why he wants Obama to fail in the attempt to salvage the U.S. economy says it all, I should think, the former drug addict (under court control following his arrest for illegally obtaining prescription medicine) going on at length about how his desire for Obama’s recovery plan’s failure is no different than wanting the football team opposing his own favorite team to fail.

The fact that someone who sees the future of the United States in terms of an us-against-them football game is cast as the de facto fead of the Republican Party should be more than a little frightening, it seems to me.

I was a Republican for about a decade, seeking, fancifully, I suppose, to try to reconnect with the spirit of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt that had been so central to the GOP when I was growing up.

That’s gone. The buffoons, simpletons, and street thug kingpins are running the show, now.

Maybe I AM in “the party of Lincoln” now — now that I’m a Democrat.

40. brad t | 03.02.09

That pic of Limbaugh looks like Jabba the Hut with a booger in his nose.

41. Gary Starr | 03.02.09

Unbelievable, listening to you libs eating your own vomit as Obama and Pelosi destroy the country.

42. robhon | 03.02.09

After having hated Limbaugh for soooo many years you just can’t believe HOW MUCH this life long democrat is relishing the entertainment that Rush is now providing us all. I keep waiting for him to pop a vein. LOL

43. malaka5 | 03.02.09

If steele knew half as much as limbaugh He might try shutting up. He was elected to do a job for the RNC not lose votes or money. I used to think He was alright but now see he’s not going to help the RNC.

44. Robert Castle | 03.02.09

The RepubliCON Party, the Party of the neocons, religious parasites, and one-issue radicals, is in its death throes. The RepubliCAN Party is in a holding pattern waiting for a compassionate conservative to emerge and take charge of the Party.

45. Diocletian | 03.02.09

As a conservative, and one who respects and admires intelligence, character, and true ideas, I am appalled by what the Republican party degenerated into and by the people who presume to speak for conservatives - Limbaugh, Hannity, Malkin, Beck, Coulter, et al. And Palin? An embarrassment. (We won’t even mention Joe the Plumber.)

No wonder we lost to Obama and the Democrats. We deserved to.

The Republican Party, as currently constituted, is a travesty.

And until it becomes something else, until it reconstitutes itself with true conservative ideas, and the depth, integrity, and character of of a George Will and a William F. Buckley, it deserves to - and will - continue to keep losing.

46. thebob.bob | 03.02.09

Go Rush Go! He’s the epitome of the Republican party devolved. As long as he’s front and center, Republicans will stay in the margins. In the next election, they will lose the Senate and be relegated to the dark corners where their hatred can fester. After thirty years of failed policies, and failed ideology, Fear, Hatred and Division is all they have left. Go Rush!!

47. Josh | 03.02.09

I don’t know why so many people here think the GOP is dying. If anything it will kick some liberal A$$ in 2012. as the dow stands it would seem all the liberal spending has done nothing but take it to an 11 year low. unemployment continues and they have no plan. nothing that has ever proven to work. ever. If the stock market continues to slide along with american jobs Obama and the dems have 0 shot in 2012 especially when I’m thinking Jindal a republican gov. in a liberal state will be running. have fun spewing your garbage for the next 4 years, but remember since january you can’t blame bush anymore.

48. Greg | 03.02.09

If this is the best the GOP can deliver, I’m afraid this will be the extermination of our party. The sooner Limbaugh is excommunicated the better. It’s no wonder the Dems are in the forefront. They do little blindly and strategically execute every move. The “shotgun effect” is miserably failing for the GOP. We will see in 2010. If they blow it again, I fear it will be too late. Limbaugh is a self-serving drama King with no real substance, but isn’t drama what people thrive on?

49. Tom | 03.02.09

Rush Limbaugh wants Obama to fail? That doesn’t sound like politics to me.

What it sounds like is treason.

While Limbaugh has a right to his opinions, to hope for Obama’s failure at this point in history, where Obama is forced to clean up the god-awful mess made by the Republicans over their 6 years of exclusive power, is to hope for failure of the United States. I’d like to hear somebody refute that without turning to specious arguments.

This guy can’t really represent Republicans, can he? He is the worst of the worst, and should be shunned by people who love this country. Democrats aren’t great, but they are what we have. When you hope for failure, you are just plain sick.

50. MIKE M. | 03.02.09

LOOK HE IS RIGHT WHEN RNC CALLS I HANG UP TILL THEY GET A PAIR AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT CONSERATIVES WANT LOWER TAXES GOVERMENT OUT OF OUR HOMES.
LOOK DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WE WOULD SAVE IF THERE WERE 4 AND 6 YEAR TERMS IN THE CONGRESS AND SENATE NO PENSIONS WHEN THE TERMS ARE UP YOU GO HOME TO YOUR OLD JOBS

51. oregonrepubturneddem | 03.02.09

The Republican’s should be ashamed of their entire agenda. It’s clear that politics have trumped the important issues of turning our country around. The GOP screams about the money being spent and how they have the better plan…that doesn’t wash with the last 8 years of druken spending and it doesn’t wash with the realities of what’s required NOW to fix the egregious errors of the previous GOP led administration.
The GOP is reactionary and cannot lead. Palin, Limbaugh, Jindal….these utterly transparent “leaders” tactics only reinforce the anacronistic and sinking platform and strategy that is the trademark of the Republican party. I am sick and tired of these lame politics and THAT is why I switched from Republican to Democrat.

52. Bill | 03.02.09

The Republican party has nobody to blame but themselves for our implosion. For the past 8 years we have strayed from traditional Republican Value and have focused on arm twisting and political thuggery, while pursuing personal vendetta’s the our beloved country was left in ruin.

53. badgervan | 03.02.09

Limbaugh best stay away from the dinner table before he literally explodes on the air. Wow… the guy must put away a whole cow daily. When you’re that fat, it’s gotta be tough to keep the self-hate from spilling out… and Tubby ain’t doing a very good job.

54. BrandNewDay | 03.02.09

It’s interesting to see so many Republicans saying they want change now. Posters #2 and #4 above are correct - we all (us Americans) need to reject the politics and the theatre and make our “leaders” do their job and try to fix the important stuff. Karl Rove took Rush’s hate and vitrol to the precinct level and got a real dummy elected…twice. (Well sort of, but it counted.) And now we all (us Americans) are gonna suffer for quite a while as we try to get back on track. Politics aside, there is no denying our macro-economic problems were hidden by ten years of people using their homes like ATM machines and spending like crazy. And everyone sold the risk downstream with no government oversight from the Bushies. Change indeed is needed.

55. rushanidiot | 03.02.09

Rush is nothing more than a fat pill popping wind bag. The fact that 20 million folks have nothing better to do with their time than listen to this drug addict is to me what is really disgusing. Guess some folks are simply too lazy to think for themselves so they turn to idiots like Rush, what a waste of air…

56. Pinocchio | 03.02.09

Jameel, that’s not a booger in his left nostril. It’s a Pinocchio cork. He’s lucky he “blew-out” the stopper in his right nostril or he would be more noticeably bloated and less trusted!

57. Chuck Adams | 03.02.09

Tyler Daniels wrote: “Have you looked at your IRA lately. Count it quick before the Democrats wipeout your investments completely.”

Really? Your IRA just started to tank in the 7 weeks that Obama has been president? Wow. Mine started to tank more than a year ago under GW Bush. In fact, long before Obama took to oath my 401(k) lost 40% of its value. A generation of greed and deregulation finally caught up with us.

You people are a joke… and jokes not even based in reality. The mental gymnastics it takes to blame Obama for this mess is nothing short of staggering. It immediately causes anything said after such an accusation to be viewed as intellectually suspect, at best.

Harness your hatred for something good.

58. FlaJoe1 | 03.02.09

A few years ago I heard an interview with Limpbaugh were he described himself as an “Entertainer”. Money is the only thing he cares about and he’s found a great way to make it…..

59. John Gluhak | 03.02.09

It’s like a breath of fresh air when Michael Steele tells it like it is. Lumbaugh is a master of deception, he takes a small innocuous event and blows it out of the universe. Too bad the Daily Worker Pravda is out of business. He could be the managing editor in spades. I see him as no less than a colossal trauma to every one’s posterior. He is not elected and answers to no one. I believe he is now smoking crack!

Mr. John J. Gluhak

60. Stray | 03.02.09

I have been a life-long Democrat, and this cannibalism within the Republican party should encourage, or at least, amuse me. However, the very fact that a mindless, reckless dolt like Limbaugh can have such an influence on the American political scene deeply saddens me. In the short run, he will only drive more moderates to the Democratic party, but in the long run, this bumper-sticker patriot is doing harm to the very country he claims to support.
In reference to comment #20 by Kathy: ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Fact Check Limbaugh? Limbaugh has been shown repeatedly to be the LEAST factual source of news on the air! Stop drinking the koolaid, darlin, and come up for air!

61. SamHoward | 03.02.09

Rush Limbaugh has a deep-seated emotional problem: He suffers from narcissism. This is a condition of arrested development or at times a regression to an infantile stage. Unable to cope with this excessive self-love and self-admiration by finding true fulfillment, such an individual strikes out in anger, anger directed toward himmself but manifested outward against other persons or objects. Rush’s vitriolic attacks now, as in years past, can only be understood if one sees them as a subconscious flailing of himself while directing his disstisfaction with himself outward against his “target”. The GOP, Obama’s budget, the RNC, etc are not the “real” targets. Rush is the “real” target, though he will never realize this. He will live out his years creating the same little ‘tornadoes’ via radio, speeches, whatever - until his final hour.
He is the real target but every arrow he shoots goes in a wrong direction.

62. Rudi | 03.02.09

Well I’m still waiting for Rush to bring on some real ‘entertainment’ like perhaps coming on TV wearing 7 veils and doing an Egyptian belly dance. That would be a sight to see. A jewel in the navel of a belly that would take up the whole of a 72 inch plasma screen.

Or perhaps he could come on dressed as a Sumo wearing just a loin-cloth, and do the Limbo Dance under a pole — which of course would need to be at least 5 feet off the ground to enable him to even lean backward.

Now THAT would be entertainment worth switching onto Faux-News channel for, even if you needed an eye-wash afterwards!

63. Suzanne | 03.02.09

I am a liberal socialist Democrat, who has been in the entertainment business for over 40 years, and has listened to Rush for years just to get my daily laugh. But no more. He has become completely irrelevant. His slander and hateful, hurtful dialogue is passe. I used to think he was funny and would laugh out loud whenever he would say the word ‘liberal’. But a man who ‘hopes for Obama’s failure’ no longer deserves my time, nor my laughter. I place him in the ‘traitor’ category. In hoping Obama fails, he hopes our country fails as well. Disgusting.

64. Bob W. | 03.02.09

Everything you need to know about the ethics of former MD Lieutenant Governor Mike Steele- Mike lost the 2006 general election for retiring Maryland Senator Paul Sarbanes’ senate seat to Ben Cardin. According to The Washington Post, the Steele campaign arranged for buses of homeless and low income people from Philadelphia to distribute fliers at polls on election day. The flyers contained incorrect information, including a statement that Steele was endorsed by prominent state Democrats and African American leaders who had not, in fact, endorsed him. The homeless people were falsely identified as volunteers although they were paid, and the campaign funds used for this purpose of hiring the homeless were not timely or properly reported or attributed to the campaign. Even if we can live down Dubya, it’s hard to be a Maryland Republican these days.

I am a visitor from Belgium working temporarily in the United States. I work in an office where am subjected to listen to Mr. Limbaugh’s (Gas Bag) (GB) in the future) commentaries from 1pm to 3pm. Each day, their is enough “hot air” generated to supply many of your small towns with enough electricity for FREE.

What is happening in this country, for God’s sake? How can you all let yourselves be brainwashed by GB and the other, Sean Hannity, for example? How can you be so dim-witted and stupid, and continue to listen to the same s**t everyday?? Personally, I’m fed up. I go home on Sunday and it will be a big relief for me. By the way, we have contributed almost $500,000 to your economy.

I lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years I left when President Clinton was still in office.

I agree. The hillbilly heroine addict took the bait hook, line, and sinker! It’s incredible there are 20M more like him out there! Those of you that listen and agree with his drug induced rhetoric, need to get a life.

The hate and animosity this entertainer (and I use the term very very loosely) spews forth is nothing any American of any character should embrace. You all should really find someone with honorable character, dignity, and intelligence with whom to associate your beliefs (oh I forgot, those attributes aren’t defined in your dictionary!).

When you are insecure, filled with hate, and quick to blame everyone else for your failures then taking refuge behind an egomaniac addict of this ilk should ease all of your pitiful shortcomings. But….20M Limbaugh buffoons that take themselves seriously? My, my!!

I’ve criticized the Chinese National Space Agency more than once regarding the Chang’E 1 - but I’m content to allow future forensics to discover how hard and fast their first lunar orbiter impacted Mare Fecunditatis, late last week.

But, until then, the argument that a controlled terminal descent with what remained of whatever steering fuels may have remained, is a perfectly plausible explanation for the “de-orbiting” of Chang’E, however unlikely it might have seemed. Close lunar orbit is a tricky thing to maintain. While the United States has Vanguard still orbiting Earth after 51 years, such an accomplishment would be impossible around the Moon because the lunar mass is not smooth. The Japanese first lunar orbiter Kaguya, which arrived within weeks of Chang’E, following the example of Lunar Prospector in 1999, has been in close polar lunar orbit for more than a year. JAXA has recently announced plans to “de-orbit” late in the Summer, but not before being committed to an even closer lunar orbit.

While there are other illustrative examples, Apollo 10, in May 1969, purposefully dropped its lunar module descent stage within 50,000 feet of the Moon and it was deliberately crashed, as General Tom Stafford and Captain Gene Cernan kicked the ascent stage back to rendezvous with the Command Module and headed home. The question is why the Chinese won’t avail themselves of the experience learned in many a controlled descent and crash in Soviet and American lunar landings beginning in 1959.

The evidence may say “spin,” and I don’t disagree, nor am I willing to give CNSA the benefit of the doubt, since the science grandly released from the mission is almost laughable, and the mission has been highly secretive. Nevertheless, a controlled terminal descent to test the capabilities of new systems and hardware is not beyond the realm of possibility.

The sad thing about Rush, and the Republican Party in general, is that it has become so out of touch and doctrinaire that it fails to act as the very necessary balance any two-party system needs. Case in point: I am a lifelong Democrat, but am bothered by actions such as Democratic legislators from California who saw an early “concept car” prototype electric car at the Detroit auto show, ran home to CA, and proposed a law mandating a minimum percentage of electric vehicles be sold in the state the following year - which was many years before such a vehicle would have been practical. The Republicans could help restrain such excesses of impractical zeal by letting the public know when these proposals defy reality. In doing so, they would be fulfilling their basic pro-business philosophy. Instead they blindly ridicule energy-saving and environmentally friendly efforts as “loony” and “anti-American”, thus losing all credibility with people who might have otherwise listened to them as a reasonable counterbalancing viewpoint.

The G.O.P. will rise again, soon thanks to the Democrats sacking of the country’s economy and plundering everyone’s retirement funds.

Wow. Look at how quickly we shake our finger at the other party, as though our party of choice has actually fulfilled their political promises and maintained a high level of morality. Democrats and Republicans, in practice, have become two sides of the same coin. Falsehood is par for the course. The once clearly defined lines have become blurred nearly beyond recognition.

Whether we agree with it or not, change is inevitable. We can choose to be spectators who watch and criticize, or we can choose to be catalysts who take the reins. Either way, to align ourselves with the idealism of either party as a basis for nearsighted nitpicking seems highly unproductive. Good fun, perhaps, but certainly unproductive. A better alternative might be to roll up our sleeves and attempt to realize the ideals we uphold by living accordingly. Rather than blame others for our state of affairs, maybe we should instead accept our own share of responsibility and better ourselves. Just a thought.

Obama did not rigg the election, as the GOP did twice. He was elected by a majority of smart honest Americans who were sick of blatant lies, dogma, corruption, repression. So, to hope for the demise of our popular president is not democratic, and advocates, inspires and conspires for the demise of the republic. Anti-American Rush should be sent to gitmo. He used to stand for “my country right or wrong” but now he stands for “my country right and wrong!” Socialized medicine sounds better than the abusive, egregious rip off conspiracy insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and American Medical Assn medicine for profit have been allowed to cripple, rob and kill us with. Thanks Rush and GOP. Credibility? Man + dinasaur = Fred Flintstone

I will make sure to keep Mr. Steele in mind when I get a donation request for the RNC. If Mr. Steele’s views represent the RNC, then I’m not giving a dime. Mr. Steele, wake up and take a look at the mess we’re in, then stand up and be a man. Stand up for what is right in this country, and not for your own political popularity. Is it so important that you’re liked by the democrats? Then you don’t belong on the right side.

73. B. Ursua | 03.03.09

Go Rush Limbaugh! I applaud you for your honesty. It’s about time someone spoke out. Yes, I hope Mr. Obama fails at his attempt to help our country fail. I don’t want my kids to grow up in the kind of country he is trying to make it into, a welfare getting, single mom, government run slum. All this while Mr. Obama and his cronies sit in the lap of luxury. My husband and I have worked too hard to have to give it all away because of the idiot president that we have. Give people a chance to work and make an honest living - don’t keep them imprisoned in the life of welfare and poverty. Come on Democrats, wake up and look at the real picture. The democrats gave President George W. Bush **** when he was in office, and held nothing back. They helped me realize that I don’t have to sit back and keep my feelings to myself. Let’s stand up and say what we feel and think. Mr. Obama is out to ruin our country. Let’s not let him.

My most recent emailers and DC Congressional fax’s are entitled Has Adolf H. Obama>>>Invaded>>>America? And after his SPEECH in front of the evil one, gestapoite Pelosi, it was Obama CHEERLEADER &/or EGOMANIAC? In the opening of the first, it states that, “never in the **** of US history has there ever been such a ruthless, dictatorial president/congress. In the other, it’s President O’Welfare equates to, I’d Gladly Pay U Tuesday 4 Your Vote Today and thanks for your support special interests, Unions and welfare minded recipients/entitlement people. Because this new American mindset deserves, no needs to be rewarded for complacency, for being “lazy”. Or rather, the ge-stop-Obama of the Pelosi regime has arrived. Folks this gov is not at all about We the People,,, but moreover about perpetuating FRAUD. Yes, we are dealing with a win at all costs self-serving party of greed and OBAMIALISM, “change” you can’ believe in. Fellow CITIZENS, stop this insanity and speak out now. “FOR THOSE WHOSE CAUSE IS JUST, FAILURES NOT AN OPTION.” Dave The Pool Doctor/cfsm@citizensforsocialmorality.org

It is people like Rush Limbaugh that give the GOP a bad name,he talks negative, and he got people thinking that all GOP are nothing but a bunch of racist people. I hear Rush is a member of the ***. Rush make all republicans look bad,Are there any republicans out there who can stand up and truly defend themselves and tell the public that not all GOP are not racist?
This why so many people don’t support GOP because they think GOP are racist. Lot of people do not want another GOP to be a president because they fear a GOP will turn their backs on anybody wanting a change for the better,I mean we need people who are genuine. If they cannot be positive for the people like Obama, and stop telling people “you gonna do this for the people,or you gonna do that for the people,no need in trying to run for president.

Just as the financial industry incrementally created it’s own eventual demise, so to,the political machine in this country may create the seeds of its own eventual destruction. The polarization of Left and Right, and the consequent alienation and disenfranchisement of the Middle leaves moderate voters no voice and no other choice but to vote for an independent, or a badly fitting Democrat or Republican vote. A third party in this country is sadly overdue to represent the vast majority of Americans who look at the Left and the Right with a mixture of justifiable horror and contempt, and to counterbalance the power of the two parties. Unfortunately, I am very much afraid that there are no such people left with influence, integrity and vision who would be willing to risk all on such a venture. Two private groups, (the Democratic and Republican parties)hold America in the palms of their hands.

78. SNOB | 03.03.09

Rush need to stop making himself look like the jerk he truly is,nobody wanna hear all that negative stop coming out his mouth,GOP are getting tired of him anyway. Both him and Micheal Steele both need to sit down. Why all the sudden when the tables get turn and we get a black president, people start hating on Obama? Why is it because he give a damn? well people who are out of work and people losing homes and banks who suffering sure can say something different to you. Wake up people,Obama is helping this country come out of recession. We are so blessed and very privileged to have a man like OUR PRESIDENT who wanna reshape America. This is why God allowed this man to be voted in the white house, just to see how big of an *** they make of themselves when people real racist side show. All you people sitting there talking crazy nonsense need to re examine your way of thinking and look at the way you think. I mean some of my white friend who claim to love black people all the sudden began calling Obama ANTICHRIST,or the Devil. Why say that. Well get ready things gonna change from now to eternity. Blacks are gonna have more advancement in a lot of things. So be ready America be very ready.

79. Gordon | 03.04.09

Given the state of the conservatives, I think he should quite that as well. Rush has given conservatism a bad name. But conservatism isn’t really his thing. More like a conspicuous capitalist or a neo conservative gourmand.

80. Happy24U | 03.04.09

Rush and Palin 2012!

81. Eric | 09.08.09

As someone who votes Republican, I am so embarrassed by those 2 jerks Beck and Rush because do not speak for conservatives. They are in it for the money and don’t give a rat’s ___ about anything except listening to each other. I hope we start a Conservative party and distance ourselves from them. Anyone who follows them must think they are gods. It is beyond belief any American can feed their egos by listening to them. Same goes for left wing extremist. We need to get back to some civility as they are all bad examples to the next generation. Besides, one is a recovering alcoholic and one is a drug abuser. Certainly, I would not want my kids around them. I’m sure they hold some deep dark secrets they don’t want anyone to know about.
