Hmmmm... Granholm's White House visit - just tailpipes?

Michigan Governor Jennifer 'laugh a minute' Granholm will appear with President Obama tomorrow to announce a tailpipe strategy. Her appearance also fueled speculation that perhaps she could be talking to the president about the soon-to-be-vacant Supreme Court seat.

A tailpipe strategy?

The only one that comes to mind is from that scene in Beverly Hills Cop when Axel Foley eluded Detective Rosewood and Sgt. Taggart through the strategic placement of bananas.

We're assuming that's not the national tailpipe emissions strategy that President Obama will unveil tomorrow.

Even if it is (and that would be newsworthy), it's the appearance of one Michigan governor that has a lot of pundits speculating.

Granholm

Jennifer Granholm, the current Chief Executive of the Wolverine state, is scheduled to attend tomorrow's event.

She's no stranger to the Obama White House. In fact, during the 2008 campaign, she's the one they called in to prep then-Senator Biden for the high stakes vice presidential debate.

And considering Biden's loquacious nature, this was a titanic assignment. And considering that the debate was not Titantic-like, it speaks highly of Granholm's abilities.

The reason the Harvard educated, former Attorney General's appearance even raises one antenna is that there's a soon-to-be-vacant seat on the Supreme Court. And she's reportedly on the short list.

Gibbs

When asked about her appearance tomorrow, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs punted.

"I think the governor's primary objective in coming is an announcement we'll make tomorrow on a different topic," he said.

Might there be a secondary objective? Gibbs punted again. "I feel good about my first answer," he said.

Interview

Gibbs did say that the president could begin interviewing for the post sometime this week.

He threw out the regular non-quotable quotes as well like, "He is going to interview people he thinks that are qualified, and make a pick as to the person he thinks is best qualified."

You can watch President Obama and Governor Granholm tomorrow during the national tailpipe strategy event at 12:15pm tomorrow. We understand it's BYOB (Bring Your Own Banana).
