Speaking to Alaska National Guard troops in Kosovo yesterday, Sarah Palin (not pictured) responded to a John Kerry joke aimed at her by turning the tables and launching her own joke at him. By the way, the photo is of a new Sarah Palin action figure on sale now.

Sarah Palin fights back — slams John Kerry

By Jimmy Orr | 06.26.09

Well, how about this…

Sarah Palin fights back. Two weeks ago, she successfully got David Letterman to back down and issue an apology. And now she’s going toe to toe with Massachusetts Senator John Kerry.

Speaking to Alaska National Guard troops in Kosovo yesterday, the Alaskan governor responded to Kerry’s non-creative joke with her own non-creative joke. Dumb? The jokes are. But the exchange is still funny.

Palin was setting the stage for her comic gold extravaganza by recalling Kerry’s jab. “So the governor of South Carolina disappears for a week,” Palin said imitating Kerry. “Well, shoot, of all the governors in the nation to disappear — too bad it couldn’t have been that governor from Alaska.”

That got a few chuckles from the audience before she transitioned from Kerry back to herself.

“He looked so frustrated and looked so sad,” she said. “I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say, ‘John Kerry, why the long face?’”

In other news, a ham sandwich walks into a bar and orders a drink. “Sorry.” says the bartender. “We don’t serve food here.”

John Kerry has been lost ever since returning from Nam. He thinks this country is his home, but thats only a Utopian dream he is living in. He is far better suited for the new People’s Republic of Vietnam. Maybe, just maybe “JANE” could go with him.

Found your site via twitter. Visit me sometimes at my blog Totus.

2. MAWC | 06.27.09

Ms. Palin needs to take the hint and just fade away. She had her 15 minutes. Good for Senator Kerry for gently trying to break it to her that most of America is very tired of hearing about her and her family. They entire lot of them need to go on a long vacation.

3. dmax | 06.27.09

The governor is speaking at a podium in a t-shirt?

4. greg | 06.27.09

You can see the entire video of her 10 minute address at Conservatives4Palin.com.

5. James Huffer | 06.27.09

Seems we have a bunch of children in government these days. They both are an embarrassment to intelligent Americans and have little credibility in the real world. They have become like so many other politicians, irrelevant.

6. Sheryle in Florida | 06.27.09

As a citizen, I am tired of comedian politicians. I don’t mind a little levity in Washington, I appreciate it when our President and/or congressmen are smart enough to tell a truly entertaining topical joke. But I am tired of our representatives doing “stand up.” Leave it to John Stewart, that’s what I watch him for. Not everyone can be funny, not everyone is funny, and I am fatigued by them acting like they would be in Vegas if not for this “gig” in Washington. I am also tired, just tired, of Sarah Palin and I wish she could be quiet for just a week or two.

7. Maryse | 06.27.09

Excuse me but it is not her job to “fight back”. Her job is to govern her state and be there for her kids and husband. I too found David Letterman very offensive but when I found out he clearly misunderstood and thought it was Bristol he was talking about, I said to myself “well Sraah you reap what you sow”. You only have yourself to blame when you let your underage daughter get pregnant then decide to let the whole world know about it by running for vice president of the United States. I supported her then but I became very uncomfortable. She had a 4-month baby with special needs too, and it was clear she put her ambitions ahead of them. Now the election is over but she is still doing it, what a tragedy for her children.

8. Bluejeans | 06.27.09

First of all, Palin was busy VISITING OUR TROOPS! Just exactly why do these men consider her to be such a threat? Kerry is the same moron who suggested that the United States of America needed a regime change and that the Secret Service should shoot Dan Quayle. Interesting that he has to hoist his sad butt onto the back of a woman to get any publicity at all.

9. MattE | 06.27.09

Watching this just reminds me of the grace, humility, and humanness that Gov. Palin displays … in such STARK contrast to the hubris and frightening arrogance of His Holiness The President Obama.

If I have to hear one more person speaking in reverential tones about Obama’s “intellect,” etc., I think I might puke. He is the world’s #1 con artist, someone whose hate is palpable in his inability to laugh and smile, like a normal human being. I can’t wait until he is relegated to the dust bin of shameful history.

As for Palin… good for you, Sarah, for making light of the petty politics exhibited by John Kerry.

Oh, and for any Obama lovers out there, I’ll ask this: what IS IT that you like about him? Think long and hard. Really try to pinpoint what it is.

What is his essence?

I think you will find that the answer might give you nightmares.

10. Marco | 06.27.09

John Kerry has been exposed as not only a self-promoting liar, but he sadly tries to act as if he is still important by bashing others.

11. annie | 06.27.09

Oh Snap! Way to go Sarahcuda!

Palin 2012!

12. wklewis | 06.27.09

You know … A contributing Chicago Sun-Times columist recently wrote “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.” I’ve reached that point where I’m sick and tired of politicians, political parties, supposed comics, broadcasters and especially bloggers, continually sniping at each other. Will everyone GET A LIFE, please! C’mon people, the economy is in the toilet. We need to roll up our sleeves and turn this thing around and move forward. It’s time to stop with the distractions, the pettiness and continual finger pointing. Just present the facts, vote and move forward. Now how hard can that be?

13. Jim Campbell | 06.27.09

As a retired Infantry Officer, I realize John Kerry went to Vietnam to get medals to advance his political career. Sad to think the people of Massachusetts don’t see through this self serving politician (word politician implies greatest degree of scumbag). For him to look down on the Palin family (ordinary folks wtih problems like the rest of us) further identifies him for who he is…. jwc

15. Conservative | 06.27.09

tear em up Palin. Palin 2012!!!

16. rannan3 | 06.27.09

dmax , since she was visiting her troops,
what would you have her wear — a tiara ???

Sad when you have to criticize every breath, every
move this governor takes. Speaks volumes –
about you !

17. Robin from Colorado | 06.27.09

Palin 2012 is such a delicious thought! Oh, I so hope the GOP picks her to be their candidate! If there are any intelligent, educated Republicans left in the party this probably won’t happen . . but it makes me salivate at the thought of it!!

18. rannan3 | 06.27.09

just curious, Maryse , how do you ” let your daughter get pregnant ?? ”

Since I have 3 daughters I would really like this explained. And from
your statements, you seem to have all the answers as to what ‘ not to do ‘.

And while you’re at it, please tell me how you STOP teenagers from doing
what they choose to do, I could really use that answer also.

19. bill | 06.27.09

>just curious, Maryse , how do you ” let your daughter get pregnant ?? ”

By teaching abstinence only instead of proper sex education.

20. ObjectiveViewer | 06.27.09

“And while you’re at it, please tell me how you STOP teenagers from doing
what they choose to do, I could really use that answer also.”

Take responsibility for your child’s actions and well-being; be a parent.

I Love Her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

22. Mel from VA. | 06.27.09

It is such a pity that the Liberal media/people who know no better/and do not recongnize or have the ability to recognize the fact that our country is being run by people who are loking out for their party first. The last thing on John Kerry’s mind is ‘what is right for our country’. The only thing he is after is putting down anyone that may get in the way of his party destroying this country. If you are not aware of this, take a good look at what already has happened since the Democrats took over congress two years ago. And take a look at how they propose to fix their problem. They are on their way to bankrupt our country. The only thing in their way is the few Republicans in the House and Ssenate that still care about the goodness of our nation and want it stand. Put sarah Palin in there two with the good republicans. Sharah Palin represents what is good about this country. Sharah Palin knows what is good about this country. Naturally the Liberal machine is going to try to put her down in any capacity they can find. They are afraid of her. She is someone that could bring our country back to the people and take it away from the politicians who want to bring us down. I hope and pray for two things - One is that voters in this country wake up to what is going on in Washington, forget about party affiliation, and voice their concern to their Representatives and Senators to rid our Congress of the blind decisions that are being made by the Democratic party. The other hope is that it is not too late already. In the last 2 and one half years, this country has seen the worst economy and the worst decisions by our Congress to combat our problems of all time. It all can be blamed on Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Barick Obama. Listen to this Not George Bush, Not Sharah Palin! Put criticism where it should be!!!!

23. IndySkeptic | 06.27.09

With all this “defending the world against bad jokes” work, when does Palin have time to run Alaska?

24. rannan3 | 06.27.09

no bill, ‘let’ denotes consent or permission.

I raised 3 girls, none had ‘consent or permission’ to make wrong-
headed, dumb choices.

Unless you can watch a teenager 24/7, mistakes can and do happen.
Doesn’t mean you’re not a fit parent, though some are not. In most
cases I think it proves kids are human too.

And can you show the site or link that proves Gov. Palin’s daughter
did not receive ‘ proper sex education ‘ ??

I know her Mom promoted abstinence , but never read where her daughter
was not educated properly……..

25. JP | 06.27.09

Kerry wasn’t right to make his comment - funny though it was - but leave it to Palin and the Republicans to make it personal but slamming Kerry’s physical features. Sounds like Palin’s been watching “Heathers” and “Mean Girls” again.

26. Jim | 06.27.09

John Kerry makes a general joke against a prominent figure in the opposite party….Sarah Palin decides her best defense is to make fun of a specific physical attribute of John Kerry.

27. rim jim | 06.27.09

She is gentle, kind, forgiving. she is rough, tough, she has inferiority complex and she fights for silly thing.

28. rannan3 | 06.27.09

Objective Viewer, I took responsibility for all my kids actions.
That did not STOP any choice they ever made, so that dog won’t hunt.
While I bear the responsibility, they still make the decisions.

( like the daughter who made the choice to be a nurse, or the one who
made the choice to be an attorney, or the last who became a dentist — those were their choices, their actions, their decisions )

You can only blame parenting up to a point, after that personal choice
will have it’s way.

29. bill | 06.27.09

>I know her Mom promoted abstinence , but never read where her daughter
was not educated properly……..

Well, let’s see…. Oh yeah, she got pregnant by having unprotected sex.

30. Claire | 06.27.09

You forgot to mention that all the soldiers roared at Palin’s joke and applauded. Lurch will do anything to get SOMEONE to pay attention to him since his own party has put him out to pasture.

31. Kaitlyn | 06.27.09

Wow! How can anyone suggest that John Kerry would go to Vietnam just to get medals to further his political career? Republicans talk the good talk about patriotism, service to country, etc., but they can’t seem to find anyone that has actually walked the walk. Not George Bush. Not Sarah Palin. She is just using money from the state of Alaska to further her own political career. Is that like going to Vietnam to get medals to further her career? And to even suggest that Sarah Palin is like the rest of the everyday Americans out there is the height of stupidity. She drags her kids around using state money, she has a husband who never seems to go to a job of his own, she wears shoes that cost more money than the clothing budget for my family for a year. She is not the everyday American she claims to be. Plus she is too stupid to even be considering a run for the presidency. The thing is too many people think “Miss Joe Six-Pack” would run the country in their interests when all she ever does is act in her own self-interst. I don’t want her anywhere near the center of power anymore than I would want my local garbage man or bartender to be the next president. I have nothing agains garbage men or bartenders; I just don’t want them to run the country. So conservatives and Palin supporters, wake up!!

32. Mary | 06.27.09

Since Sarah feels free to ridicule someone’s physical traits, it must be ok if we point out that she has eyes that float around in their sockets…never quite coming to a standstill. Is that ok, too?

33. basementfrog | 06.27.09

SECESSIONIST…

“The fires of **** are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government… And I won’t be buried under their damn flag,” - Joe Vogler in 1991, Founder of the Alaska Independence Party…..“I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.”

Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd, was a member the Alaskan Independence Party, a radical group working for Alaskan secession from the United States. Todd Palin registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party and remained a member until 2002, when he registered as undeclared while his wife ran for political office. She is more than sympathetic to the cause of secession; she sleeps with a man who is committed to the idea of destroying the unity of the United States.

Sarah Palin and ‘first dudes’ political alliance with a terrorist who was murdered in 1993 during “a plastic explosives sale gone bad.” Todd Palin joined the party two years later. Neither Sarah nor Todd were 9 years old at the time.

Dexter Clark, vice chairman of the A.I.P.: refers to the American soldiers in Alaska as “occupying troops.” Michael Hill, a representative of A.I.P., stated on Glen Beck’s program that the goal of the A.I.P. “is to dissolve the United States and the Constitution.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI

Sarah congratulates the secession party on their political gains.

Yea, she’s a great American. The kind the GOP loves: destroy america and the american people.

34. joseph | 06.27.09

Joe Biden and John Kerry the Paris Hilton and Perez Hylton of the liberal political class !!!

35. RonniNY | 06.27.09

But the irony is that the joke she used was originally launched nationally by, none other than David Letterman!

Her adoring supporters have been belly laughing all day, celebrating how hysterically funny she is, while not even realizing the joke was told YEARS ago by the very guy they went all vigilante on a few weeks ago.

The best stories just write themselves!

By the by, one of the first comments here mentions that the full 10 minute video can be seen at conservatives4palin.com . If you’re up for a mind rattling insight into the psychology and sociology of celebrity adoration, you owe it to yourself to wander there. Spend some time reading the comments, especially the ones having to do with Palin’s trip to Kosovo and those having to do with the “desecrated photo” that has them up in arms and ready for battle. Interesting stuff. (and that’s such an understatement)

36. rannan3 | 06.27.09

well Bill by your standards, only the uneducated make
mistakes. Or is it just people who choose to blame
a lack of education for poor choices ? I choose the latter.

37. Big Dave | 06.27.09

Sarh Palin is fantastic! John Kerry is a fake! It is a Liberal set-up AGAINST Palin when (duh) NO FEMALES like Clinton scream for (female) Palin’s rights! (Or for Iranian female rights) GO SARAH! At least her grandbaby isn’t in the medical trash but IN HER MOTHER”S ARMS!

40. MosonGrayson | 06.27.09

As far as I’m concerned the USA as we knew and loved it is gone and lost forever.
Any attempt by politicians to change things is just a pointless and meaningless exercise in futility.

41. lisa | 06.27.09

I would say something, but I’m worried Palin will attack me next.

42. alaskalivedotnet | 06.27.09

I agree with MosonGrayson

This country is just like a snowball rolling down a huge hill, headed for ****.
God Himself should apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah if He does not punish this country.

I am ashamed to be called an American.

God has effectively been kicked out of our schools and country, why would anyone want to vote for a woman who Stands for God, the God of the Holy Bible and Family… that would step on too many toes.

43. alaskalivedotnet | 06.27.09

Re: basementfrog

The Bible tells us to be separate, to come out from among them…
It would be great if states would start separating from the United States…
The United states is corrupt from the federal level all the way down.
Corrupt Media, Corrupt Politicians… Why would any state want to be a part of a Corrupt Nation?

Think about that?

44. Badger | 06.27.09

While all of you slam Palin you seem to forget Kerry lied about his service to this country and who cares if Palin or Bush did because we know no one in the o administration served to protect your rights. And as far as the whole pregnant daughter who cares. If that is all you can get her on then go Palin and I cannot almost guarantee the military would support her in heartbeat over o. Wait until she is running for president anything she did would be better than this current administration. Go Palin

45. George | 06.27.09

Palin scares the devil off the liberals…their attacks on her prove how dangerous she is to them…I am happy with her recent replies to windbags like Letterman and Kerry.I think she’s done putting up with the abuse from the left. I can’t wait to hear her fix the next reporter who tries to ambush her a la Charlie Gibson…I suspect his or her head will be handed back, particularly if other networks get a chance to broadcast the exchange.:-)

46. Sisu | 06.27.09

I am a long time friend of Sarah’s parents. It’s too bad people can’t respect her and her family

47. Donald Hyatt | 06.27.09

Sara Palin and John Kerry. A beauty queen and a Viet Nam War veteran. A person who can see Russia, and a U.S. Senator. A person who ran for president and a person who ran for vice president. We have a man who served in the army and woman who ran for a beauty title. We have a person who graduated from a well known school and a person who did not. What has each person done? That is the question. Who has made a difference?

48. jay | 06.27.09

The “mainstream” Repubs talk a great line (long face, ha ha), but the fact of the matter is they can’t seem to get a majority to vote for anything. They’re reduced to back-biting and sniping at one another, and getting in the way of anyone who would try and get on with cleaning up after the Bush administration. They can’t figure out whether Steele or Limbaugh or Cheney run the party, and they think maybe Sarah Palin is the answer. Please nominate Sarah Palin for president in 2012–apparently Ensign and Sanford are off the table–and the American people can again resoundingly vote her off the island. The Repubs have again demonstrated the bankruptcy (and hypocrisy) of their ideas and their inability to squarely address a single crucial issue in this country with anything but a cynical, cronyist attitude. The future of the Republican party lies in people like Ron Paul– a man of integrity, thought, and ideas– and not in whatever Sarah Palin represents.

49. conservativethinker | 06.28.09

To Alaskaalivedotnet: It’s rather alarming how much you sound like Al-Qaeda. Maybe you’d prefer an Alaska that looks a lot like Waziristan, eh?
As for the governor, she could have let Kerry sound like the stuffy dullard he is by not acknowledging his ridiculous comment. Moreover, Letterman is just doing his job and the viewing public is taking this stuff too seriously. Unfortunately for the GOP, the problem is that Palin is simple and slow like GW Bush and some people actually think that would make her a good leader, and the truth is that she wouldn’t need to defend herself if she were legitimate. On the other hand, Kerry’s still miffed about the Swift Boat Veterans ads and should just be quiet. Our task is to avoid being so gullible about these has-beens; this isn’t much more than a simple rehash of the Jerry Springer Show, which, sadly intrigues us.

50. Suzi | 06.28.09

Liberals are not afraid of her. The GOP should be though.
She is a laughing stock.
Do you people listen to her? She is not bright.
Palin represents America in the worst way.

51. moscott | 06.28.09

good for you sarah! the only conservative that knows how to fight back with humor! uhh…reagan?

52. libertarianman | 06.28.09

All this sniping back and forth, democrat this, republican that, you’re all laboring under the illusion that there’s actually a difference. The problem is carreer politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle. These parasires have been bellied up to the public trough for so long that they all think they own you and everything that’s yours. When the founders of the Republic set this system up, a guy left his farm or his factory or his store in the care of family and friends and went to Washington for a couple of years to represent the interests of his neighbors. Now we’re right back where we were at the beginning of the nation. We have taxation without representation and are subject to the whims of a ruling class who have no idea what it means to live in Amwerican society. I’d take a Palin, who actually has a life outside of politics over a Kerry, who has proven to be a political parasite, any day. WAKE UP AMERICA! VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS EVERY CHANCE YOU GET! And vote out that scum Obama at the FIRST opportunity.

53. Melinda W. | 06.28.09

She would have done better just to ignore it, instead of getting into a mud wallowing contest with him. It was right for her to fight back when her kids were the target, but this was just stupid. She should have risen above it.

54. Marik Casmon | 06.28.09

I can’t imagine why anyone would vote for Sarah Palin, but if enough people do, she will be President.

I’m pretty sure she will continue the Bush-Obama approach to executive power continue to expand it.

In addition, Washington and the nation’s corporations/lobbyists will eat her alive, and nothing will change for middle class Americans.

55. JohnR | 06.28.09

Palin just isn’t very bright but that’s OK, neither are most of her supporters. She represents dangerous mediocrity. Kerry is an arrogant, out of touch, typical ultra-rich senator. Many people I know who are willing to give Obama a chance do not see Kerry as a good choice for President.

Obama is very intelligent. He communicates well. He can string together thoughts. He is taking decisive action in many areas. He will try to balance the interests of all Americans. He is not trying to play different groups against each other. Will he be proved an excellent president or a disaster? Time will tell. But Bush ignored many critical issues for eight years. Obama is confronting serious issues. So far, he looks like a courageous leader. But these are new and scary times for many out there in America. People hate change. But waves of change were rolling in, regardless of political outcomes.

56. PB | 06.28.09

Palin is a space alien sent here to eat what’s left of our brains.

57. Bruce O’H. | 06.28.09

I like Sarah, I guess I’m one of those Stupid People. Because if I was REAL smart, I’d like a Chicago politician who can’t string together a solid sentence unless he’s reading from a teleprompter. I admire that the Palin family stood by their beliefs and principles and chose life for her grandson. That was their real sin in the eyes of liberals. Everyone knows that if the Palins were REAL smart, they would have thrown the child out with the rest of the “medical waste” that the Left has been responsible for by the ton. Their unholy sacrament. If I were REAL smart, some of my cultural heros would be, lets see, Perez Hilton and Barney Frank! Just two of the finest fellows to admire. If I were REAL smart, I’d think that Castro, Gueverra, and Chavez were heros of “the people.” If I was really, really, REAL smart, I would spit on anything good and call it evil, and I would call anything evil and anti-American good. God bless Sarah Palin and her family, and thank God I am not REAL smart like all of those REAL smart Liberals.

58. katiec | 06.28.09

How anyone can view Palin as a viable candidate for president is beyond me.
Get serious people.
She supported one of the most negative campaigns in the history of our country. She spewed hate, anger, unrest and division of our country. Her lies, accusations went way beyond what a responsible, respectable politician would do.
She paraded her family constantly, doing anything she could to grab the headlines. She most certainly does not have the intelligence to lead our country. She is part of the RRR’s which we voted against.
Truly think because of her ambitions, quest for attention and power, lack of substance she will self destruct. At least, hope so.

59. Obama is the Messiah | 06.28.09

oh how i hope she runs, wins and then irradiates the cancer known as ‘progressive’ that has infected the body politic of the USA.

for some reason, we are to beleive that ’secular’ equal intelligence, and Judeo Christian equals backward and ignorant. It’s like calling illegals undocumented workers, it the power of language.

It was the Christian oriented founding fathers and a belief in a higher power that created the greatest nation on earth, now the as the pendulum swings, it will be the psudeo-intellectuals who destroy it. One activist judge at a time.

60. Michael Stout | 06.28.09

I love Palin. I want Palin to run for President this time around. I hope she talks and talks and talks…

61. John Carpenter | 06.28.09

“Palin has had her 15 minutes of fame”….

That line is so old it has a beard, not to mention she is sitting on a huge book deal that will certainly bury the sales records of Obama and both Clintons.

At the same time, she negotiated a brilliant triangulation between Alaska and two bitter rivals–Exon and Trans Canada.

As of the moment, she has rising popular appeal betwen evangelicals, catholics, and independents while Obama’s
ratings are sinking like a stone (down 10 in approval since April).

Ladrokes verifies this: early in the winterhe was a 1-5 fgavorite to recapture the White House; today he’s sitting at
8:5.

Fifteen minutes of fame? Maybe if you’re clocking it with a sundial.

John Who?

63. PCL | 06.28.09

I’m not a big fan of either of them, but Palin’s jab was funny; Kerry’s sounded a little too bitter to get more than a disturbed chuckle. Neither was born to be a comedian, though.

64. shardo | 06.28.09

wklewis couldn’t have said it better.

65. Jan | 06.28.09

The comment stating Sarah has Alaska pay for her and her families expenses is not any different than President Obama flying all over the world with his family. What about the over $100,000 it cost the taxpayers in security and travel for the President to take his wife to the theatre and dinner in New York City. I don’t see the point of all this mud slinging between parties because they need to work together and quit raising our taxes. The new Cap and Trade bill that is in the works will be one of the biggest back door taxes. Businesses just pass that cost on to the consumer. Politicians should have to take a test before they can run for office to prove they have an understanding of economics, fiscal responsibility, a historical background, etc.

66. OnTheBrightSide | 06.28.09

You’re all going into Analysis Paralysis.
Thank you John and Sara for keeping it fun!

67. Vince | 06.28.09

Palin likes to use the victim role, but she is hardly a victim. She’s rolled in enough mud and slung enough mud to hardly claim the high moral ground in politics. I think everyone should just ignore her…

Someone has to have the balls to stand up to Stupid Self serving Rich men
Who is more like the american people? John Kerry who has not balanced a check book in 30 years and is financed by mrs Heinz Ketchup

I am going with Sarah, She has worked her way up just like U and Me

Ted Kennedy has a Signed Poster of her….

69. horatio | 06.29.09

Why do all all these blogs ended being personal attacks and juvenile rhetoric instead of just discussion of the issue at hand?
As for Palin as a legitimate candidate,I am concerned that her personal belief and her church believe that America would be better off if the gov. and military were a run by people of her faith exclusively! That is a radical ideology of theocracy. She is a wolf in sheep clothing. We don’t need extremist in our government, the middle east should be proof enough of that mentality.
Kerry served his country in a war, then had the courage to speak against the immorality of his government, that’s integrity. That’s American.

70. there-in-60 | 06.29.09

There are still alot of us around from the left in the 60’s fighting for change of policy in the military (ie the draft) not the military members like you John Kerry. We wondered who you were then and what you were then, and where did a guy this messed-up appear from and who appointed him as our spokesman the media perhaps? A new self appointed leader of the left who totally misrepresented and twisted the majority view. Maybe that inside view has changed today..I couldn’t be as sure today as I was then. This was the most asked question of the day.. when you and your small group of punks trashed our freinds coming home from Viet Nam. Of course we all knew there were communists, drug addicts, and strange folks on our side fighting for the change…but you may take credit for the biggest and uglyist change that brought most of the grief the left has to suffer today. Thanks John Kerry still not buying your loser approach. We wished you would quit then and we wish you would quit now, just go away John you’re so over. Actually when I think about it you never really happened you were just a guy on a bad trip. Do you really think you can keep distorting the past in order to bring forth your agenda? There are too many that know you John. It is really scary to think the the young and innocent of today will naturally gravitate to the left and find you their spokesman. I guess our work is not over until it’s over.

If you want to attack Governor Palin do it on the issues.

Criticize her family or her wardrobe or her persona and you simply recruit more fans to her corner.

Is that what you want?

72. dale t | 06.29.09

PffT! Is that a Sarah Palin doll or is it really Peggy hill from “King of the Hill”?

Poor Sarah, struggling to appear relevant.

As for Kerry, who would have expected a better joke from him. He’s not the first person one thinks of when jokes are being told.

As for those who will defend Sarah for her ‘abilities’: wow, you really aren’t too picky when it comes to selecting leadership.

If you don’t think a J.D. with a Magnum Cum Laude from Harvard is intelligent, you probably don’t know a J.D. is, nor what Magnum Cum Laude means, and you might not be too sure just what Harvard is, either.

I am very sorry to admit that I voted for Palin (for Governor) and am now ashamed of it. Now we have a beauty pageant runner up pretending to be Governor. Palin again and again shows her lack of maturity and seriousness when it comes to her job. We need someone who will actually stand up for Alaskans instead of focusing on their own political career.

>>> As far as I’m concerned the USA as we knew and loved it is gone and lost forever.

“lost and gone forever” ?? Lost perhaps, but gone forever? Yeah, sure, if WE THE PEOPLE (who, if you read your Constitution, are who should be running the country) just give up. Sorry, mosongrayson, I for one am not ready to give up. Just because so many of our politicians have lost vision doesn’t mean I have to shut my own eyes or teach others to do the same.

>>> I am ashamed to be called an American.

alaskalivedotnet — Then call yourself something else. Yes, God has been “kicked out” of the public arena — but again, why just give up? Stand fast in your faith and teach your children to do the same — or sit down and whine about it.

In response to Kaitlyns comment:
“Wow! How can anyone suggest that John Kerry would go to Vietnam just to get medals to further his political career? Republicans talk the good talk about patriotism, service to country, etc., but they can’t seem to find anyone that has actually walked the walk. Not George Bush. Not Sarah Palin.”

So when you are saying we cant find ‘anyone’, you werent really referring to the person we nominated to run against President Obama? Lets see now, how many years in a POW camp? He not only walked the walk, but he still holds the scars fromt he injuries he sustained while doing so, without remorse or regret. He didnt get his injuries by have shrapnel from his own rifleshot hit him, he was tortured by the enemy. Yes, the same enemy that John Kerry went to visit with Jane Fonda, while they declared that people like Sen. McCain and my father were all murderers and criminals. You named two people who were not in combat in Vietnam, but neglected the one who was our choice to lead us, and he was there more then anyone else I know of.

Was it just my Mother, or did anyone else get told that “Two wrongs don’t make a right”?

78. Frank Meoff | 06.29.09

John R. Your comment shines a bright light on your liberal bias. How can someone who claims to have visited 56 of the 50 United States, and believes he still has one left to visit be considered “Bright”? How can someone who cannot express a coherent thought unles he reads it word-by-word from a prepared script (e.g. teleprompter) be considered a “good communicator”? How can someone who spends our children’s wealth be considered a leader?

After reading the Monitor’s article about this Alaska Governor I kinda think the C.S.Monitor’s writer does not favor this lady. The video was barely audible and think the humor was insignificant. I respect integrity and intelligence from people especilally men and women. Does the this Monitor reporter have respect for the Governor of Alask?

80. marshal | 06.29.09

@Bruce
yep, all that makes you stupid. But, that’s alright, most of US is right there with you. You are just living off the legacy of the smart people.

81. Linda | 06.29.09

Senator Kerry’s comment was disgusting and Governor Palin has a right to defend herself. Something is seriously wrong with the people who laugh and applaud Kerry for his remark, and then berate Palin for her comment. It is such a double standard. Sarah Palin has more decency in her pinky finger than John Kerry does in his entire body!!!

82. Jeosutin | 06.29.09

Well it was a lame response but really it was the only thing she could have said. At least she didn’t create more controversy with it.

I sure hope that the next time someone takes a jab at Palin, they give her a better setup than Kerry did. Both of them resorted to really annoying cliches.

At least Arnold got eggs thrown at him. And he asked for bacon too. Now that’s funny. See how it’s done?

83. foofighter | 06.29.09

The Christian Science Monitor is much too classy of a paper to have blogs like these, which are filled with hateful, useless, embarrassing bickering. Just don’t have any blogs! What purpose do they serve but to let stupidity rant and rave?

86. Matt Clark | 06.30.09

I love how Sarah Palin, the “politician,” spends all her time and energy defending herself from jokes made by comics. Maybe next she will begin defending herself from the hundreds of millions outside the US who unanimously agree she is a fool and increasingly mock the US as a result.

She emboddies much of what intelligent people dislike about America (liberal or conservative).

I am truly surprised that the GOP hasn’t just squashed her yet. I mean, get her out of the limelight already. This is so embarrassing to us moderate conservatives.

87. k.a | 06.30.09

Everyone is so quick to judge Obama and his administration now… but it took Bush Serving TWO TERMS (keep in mind that a lot of the people complaining elected that air head) to see the damage that he was doing to this country. All I see is people talking a lot of garbage making ridiculous jokes instead of finding solutions to the problems that we are faced with. There is no right party it is all just a huge popularity contest. If voters would just take the time to do a little research and pick the candidate that the feel better suits the needs of America (and there ARE options other republicans and democrats) then maybe we would be in a better position. Oh and to the person saying that Palin is a bad mother because her daughter got pregnant, it is true that teaching abstinences to children is very important BUT you cannot control what a person with there own thoughts and emotions does when you are not around. Parents can guide children in the right direction, but cannot micromanage there life and prevent children from making mistakes. It’s not possible. If you smother your children the first chance they get they will go against anything you say.

88. Tom E. | 06.30.09

Please, nominate her to run in 2012. She’d be the absolute best choice for the Republican Party. Maybe Rush Bimbo could be her vice. The American people deserve this choice, so we can re-elect Obama for another 4 years. We’re all laughing at you Sarah and you just don’t get it. Sad thing is, as a former long time Alaskan, I’m embarrassed.

89. Ace | 06.30.09

How sad that Sarah chose to make fun of John Kerry’s physical appearance rather than his good/bad accomplishments. Is that her style of family values?

90. Guy Macher | 06.30.09

Although it is not common knowledge, John Kerry served in Viet Nam. I heard him say that once.

91. Pat F | 07.01.09

Tell John K. to take a hike. What’s wrong with a T shirt? Is that all the “dems” can do, is to run down people? Get a life? (Like the blogger in Alaska?) Get a real job and “work” eight hours a day!!!

93. Mini | 07.01.09

Go Sarah! I am beyond baffled why the highly competent, successful and classy Gov. of Alaska is still being attacked by Democrats. I guess they need to have a fallback distraction from all the money they are wasting at the tax payers expense and the incompetency coming out of Washington these days. Whatever. Keep drinking the kool-aid Sarah haters…

94. RW | 07.01.09

TOM E.

At the current rate of the Obama spending and taxing, you won’t have to worry about electing The Messiah again in 4 years……there won’t be an America left!

95. Roger K | 07.01.09

Why after all these months is Sarah Palin still getting kicked? Are the libs afraid of what she stands for? She is critized for haveing a daughter that made a mistake (those of you who haven’t can throw the first stone) but somehow Clinton’s immorality while President is overlooked. Can someone explain that! And Joe Vogler, had lots of discussions with this very intelligent man. Really right wing but his hate for the US was because the US violated one agreement after another which they made with Alaska when it became a state. No other state has been violated and controlled by the Fed. Gov’t than Alaska and he had the courage to speak up. But as right wing as he was he didn’t hold a candle to Pelosi and company.

96. Snowhare | 07.02.09

It is interesting to see in these comments - well, interesting? rather confirming what I suspected anyway - that those who like Mrs. Palin find confirmation for their feelings in this ‘battle of jokes’ whereas those who dislike her see their view confirmed.
So, please stop calling each other stupid! There are simply two views of the world clashing. My guess is: people who like Obama hate Palin and vice versa. It’s the way they appear in public, the way they speak.
At the moment, it seems the majority is still with the president they elected about 8 months ago. To those who don’t like it, I can only say: perhaps your time will come again. But don’t waste energy shouting at the ‘liberals’ you will only harden their views.
To the Palin haters: the same: If you anger the Palin fans you will only make them more determined to stick to her.
Save your breath, people, and get to work!

97. Barack | 07.02.09

Not a Palin fan, but surprisingly, I got a chuckle out of her comment..

98. BrooklynGirl | 07.02.09

“Because if I was REAL smart, I’d like a Chicago politician who can’t string together a solid sentence unless he’s reading from a teleprompter.”

But I’ll bet you were okay with supporting a 5″2 functionally illiterate cowboy from TX who couldn’t speak in complete sentences even when he used a teleprompter.

99. Tom Tom | 07.02.09

Sarah Palin has all the Leftoids in panic and 2012 is three years away. Can’t you imagine the terror they will actually experience in 2012 when Sarah Palin in elected to the White House? Sanity will return to America. Too bad it will take the cleaners in the white space suits 6 month to exterminate and scrub the democRAT stuff out of the White House. Take that John Kerry, Hero of Cambodia on Christmas Eve…
